One Ring To Win Them All (Or Maybe Just One) [Open]

George had volunteered to do something. She was actually doing something other than slobbing about, or leaving the work to everyone else - but then again, this was something she cared about. Not specifically the ring toss, which she was in charge of for the time being - it was the act of giving other people joy. Or annoyance, as the case may go, but it made her genuinely smile when people won. And faire's were fun, everyone knew that. She was being more fun, by being appropriately dressed for the occasion.

She felt fancy as hell. Like the bloody Queen or some shit. But better.

Now was not a good time to be commiting treason. Or was it blasphemy? She was confused. And it didn't matter right now.

"Want to toss some rings? Everyone wants to toss some rings." She said, in her most charismatic voice. She pointed at one passer-by, "You know you want to."

Apparently they didn't, because they kept walking. Their loss. She didn't lose confidence, though. Or energy. She could do this all day. "Toss some rings, win something. When I say toss some rings, however, I do not mean rings of value, such as wedding rings. I am not a scrap woman, and you do not want to be in that situation. I will not buy your jewelry." She spieled, going completely off track, but it still related to rings, so it wasn't so distracted from her purpose. "One ring to win them all~! Except you only win one thing and you have more than one ring. Huzzah!"

That calling out business wasn't exactly necessary, but she was enjoying herself. Hell yeah~!

Andreas normally wasn't what one would consider a 'fun' guy under the contemporary edition. But... This summer event, whatever it was to be called, it was something special, a semblance of the human world outside of the meta school. This was, of course, despite the fact that most of the events were run by meta students.

His dress wasn't too colorful or popping. Long, if not a little tight around the waist blue jeans, a regular crew-neck t-shirt, one of his signature hats, and some cheap shoes. But what was 'faire attire', anyways? There was an odd, serene enjoyment out of watching these things happen. For once there wasn't a whole lot of division. His mind even wandered, daydreamed a bit. People shuffled for the flashier events all around him. Book tucked under his arm, Andreas strode at his own pace.

Admittedly, he was going to, as well. His likeliest course of action was to browse, watch some of the events, pop a book, then leave. Of course, his stride was interrupted, he was snapped to reality when he was isolated from the crowd. An older student he vaguely recognized pointed him out, beckoned him in with her cheerful disposition and kind-of Lord of the Rings reference.

He was about to pretend he didn't notice the Zatanna look-alike, keep on going. After a brief consideration, he shrugged, and approached the little stand, sliding the book on the counter. Coincidentally, it was a collector's edition of Tolkien's first book in the series, slightly marked, but otherwise looking like it'd just been plucked from Middle Earth.

"Why the hell not? What can I win?"

Success! She had a customer/participant/something or other! In simple terms, someone possibly willing to do stuff! Objective complete, motherfuckers - now for stage two. Entice the bastard.

"Before I say anything, might I just say I love your hat and I love your book," Not trying to suck up to him, she was just telling the truth. She pulled out a cane from behind the counter and began her beautiful spiel which she rambled off without a script or any such aid.

"You get three hoops - you hook one of these bottles," She signalled to the lowest of the three tiered structure behind her, "You get a thing from this basket of your choice." She pointed to a little basket near to the boy, which contained cheap whittle water pistols and other plastic-y shit. Her cane went back again, "You hook one in the middle, and you can get any of these," She signalled towards lots of small toys on the sides of the stand. One final time, she turned and pointed, this time at the top row, "And if you get one of those bastards," (woopsie doopsie, bad word) "You can get one of these." She waved her cane towards the big fluffy cuddly lovely delights above their heads. That back row was a bitch. She hadn't managed to get it even once when she had tried it.

And that wasn't just because she had no physical capability.

Maybe.

She pulled out a stuffed cat from under the counter and placed it in front of her, and began stroking it like the evil mastermind vendor she was, "So, care to play?"

"Well, I've got the throwing skill of a guy who sits and reads all day..." He stroked his chin with an index finger, pretending to contemplate, his elbow resting on his other forearm. Again, normally he would have refused, walked along, just pretended that he had something else to do. The idea of betraying the purpose of the Community Faire seemed sort of... wrong?

"Also, thanks, I appreciate it." Andreas added, genuinely happy. Normally people gave him a lot of crap for his fashion in particular. He gave each of the prizes a cursory glance. Novelties and party favors in one, but nothing really worth the effort. If he desired to squirt people with a solitary spritz of water, he'd go shell out the dollar for a ten-pack in the corner store.

"Well, I'll go for it. And you know what, I'll go for one of those bastards." Speaking in her accent at the end there, though not condescendingly, there was a little kick he got out of her accent. It was so notably, characteristically different than the usual one would hear around Hammel, or Pilot Ridge. One of those stuffed animals would be a cute little trophy to mount on his sectional dresser or end-table. Hands planted on the counter, he analyzed just how he'd throw this. It seemed like banking it upwards was necessary, but that ran the risk of just dinging it or being unable to really hook it on. Coasting it on there also seemed like it'd take the largest degree of luck. That was clearly the intention, though. These weren't beanie babies, after all.

The community faire was all charity and rainbows and happiness. You could sulk around the whole time and do nothing fun, or you could avoid being a mardy bum and actually get involved, have some fun, lose all your money - everything you were supposed to do at a faire. In light of that, she shrugged her shoulders, "Doesn't mean you're not in for a chance at winning." She stated simply. It just meant he was less likely to actually win. Eheheheh.

"No problem!" She replied, happy to see him smiling. And happy to see a hat. Mmm, hats.

She looked at the basket of booby prizes, because really, that was what they were. Like, she would have been amazed if anyone actually got excited by them. But hey, that was another faire tradition - there had to be at least some crap prizes or it was too rewarding.

George chuckled at the use of her accent. Usually, she would get a little miffed at the people who tried mimic it, but the atmosphere was too bright and friendly for her to get annoyed. "Aim high and get high- I mean, win cool stuff." Good save, George. She went under the counter and pulled out some of the regulation hoops (regulation because she fucking said so and you don't mess with the law of Georgina Fucking Speer), and slid them near the boy, but kept her hand over them. She saw him analysing for a moment and interrupted after a short moment, "Cough up the dough, Hercules." No idea where the name Hercules came from but she rolled with it.

"Hercules?!" He almost choked from the sudden laughter. He was anything but a Hercules, and that was possibly the most odd thing anyone said to him all week. He took a look at the sign real quick. The price was something he missed, oh well, so distracting her didn't work. Luckily for him, he set aside some of his loose change for this day. After this, he'd definitely have to move towards the free events, or just watch others who had expendable income do it.

When he took out his wallet, it was a pretty pitiful display. Thin, faded gray pleather held what appeared to be /maybe/ two dollars. The only bulk was at the base of the item, where some clearly defined coin bulges presented themselves. Exact change was the name of his game, people rarely gave him change when he made a transaction. A dollar fifty exactly. The price for a few attempts. That was more than fair.

He took hold of the three hoops, lowering them, and making a few flick motions of the wrist. He somehow didn't seem satisfied. His eyes half-lidded, brows furrowing in to a focused, determined knot. He threw the first hoop. DING! It smacked the post, not having nearly enough of an upward angle. He took a deep breath, and tried again. He would've made it, the back of the inner hoop pinged the lip of the bottle, but it didn't catch.

"Don't think that one's happening." Andreas mused, cutting his losses and going for the middle, instead. Only barely, it landed atop the bottle. That one didn't require an incredible amount of skill.

"Yeah, Hercules," Come on George, think of a good reason, be convincing, "He was a guy too. And he had a human body." And he was almost nothing like this guy, "Plus, he was special, and if I remember correctly, you're from Hammel, so you're special too." Yes, those were some good reasons, right there.

No one could pull the wool over her gaming eyes. All those video games really did help her memory and multi-tasking, so they were useful, to an extent. Also, she knew how to blow people up. If only they made more realistic FPS simulators. Man, she needed an Oculus Rift or something, or one of those running pods. That would be fun as hell. Wait, what was she supposed to be doing? ...oh right, there was still this kid here! Luckily, she hadn't been out of it too long. She checked the money over and slid over the hoops, taking the dough and putting it with the rest of the bread in the toaster. Not a real toaster. Geez, some people just didn't understand the English language.

George watched the boy as he seemed to prepare himself. It was pretty funny, how seriously he was taking this, but she avoided any possible sarcasm. The first ring was a no-go, so in response, she sucked a breath through her teeth, showing her disappointment (in probably a very annoying way). The second one was no better. The blonde boy made a comment about his ability to throw hoops about and George smiled pleasantly, "Nope." She agreed, popping the 'p'. How encouraging.

He did, however, get something in the end. George's smile became brighter, a genuine grin, "Congrats~! You may choose any of these~" She said, waving that cane around as she did. There was a fair assortment of toys on offer, and they were cute as hell. "And while you decide, I will go collect those rings." Because some people were indecisive and she didn't want to stand there and make annoyed impatient noises at him. She came back after about half a minute and only two almost disasters involving her incapability and the possibility of the bottles falling off. George, the supposed master of hand-eye coordination, everyone.

"Yeah, that's about as good of reasoning I've ever heard." He chuckled, not really appreciating what he viewed as some sort of condescending remark. Then again, it was so easy to slight him anyhow... This one he'd just let go. The fair, he told himself. It was a nice day /out/ of Hammel, and there was no purpose in looking at it like it was on-campus. He didn't take too long to look over the things.

He chose a little beanie animal. A small dog, whose mouth was curled in to a big smile. For some reason, he just felt a little warmth when seeing it. And normally, it was very hard to him to be effected by cute. He stuffed it in his pocket, so the head was sticking out, and that annoying heart-tag didn't have a chance to spill out. Out of money for fair events, he decided that perhaps it'd just be time to go read somewhere, now. The lake /did/ offer a nice, serene location where one could do such a thing.

"And he was special in the sense that he was demigod, who was strong as all hell." He flexed an arm, arms at his side. The pale skin barely bumped up. The assertion that his arms were like noodles? It was entirely fair. There wasn't much more to say to this girl, so instead of just awkwardly shuffling in place, he turned, to walk away from the booth. He was just going to play it cool, and pretend like he wasn't going to put more money in to the game he wasn't going to win.

"Well, thanks for the good time. I don't know how long you're planning on working this thing, but good luck to you." Just standing in one place, in that ridiculous outfit... It'd be torture enough. It still seemed like the traffic just wanted to pass them by, though. This was all despite the little spectacle they put on by simply playing the game.

and, with that, he just shuffled away, towards the back of the fairgrounds, where he could then exit down towards the lake. At least there were some forms of entertainment that didn't cost a boatload of money, and actually lasted a while.

George quirked an eyebrow, "Hey, my reasoning is perfectly solid." In George-land, where bunnies were made of butterflies and marshmallows were currency, maybe possibly. However, in reality, calling this boy 'Hercules' made about as much sense as spreading honey on a pumpkin. Unless it was halloween. For bees. Beelloween. Why didn't that exist? Bees were dying down anyway, they probably needed cheering up. By being scared the shit out of.

Now that was a question - did bees shit?

...probably.

She detached the chosen toy and handed it to him, watching the boy endearingly shove it into the small space of his pocket. Animal cruelty, much. She shrugged her shoulders, "You don't need to have meaty muscles to be a strong person." But that would be strong in a different sense - mentally strong. If anything, that would be something George respected/cared more about than some buff dude who thought he was all that.

The brunette tilted her hat towards him, "Thank you very muchly. Have fun wandering around~!" She was pretty oblivious to his thoughts. To him, this may have seemed terrible, but she was enjoying it very much. And she would be able to do other stuff later as well, which she could also look forward to enjoying.

George watched him go for a moment, a small smirk on her face, and then leaned against the counter, watching people go by, wondering if someone would just come straight up to her.

Probably not. Humans were brainless drones, they needed encouragement to work.

"Look at all these fluffy things!" She said, motioning upwards to the random people around, "Don't you want some fluffy things in your life?" Better but those improvisation tactics to the test. Oil those cogs.

Freshly scrubbed of her ghoulish makeup she had worn for her shift at the Tent of Doom (TM) haunted attraction, Cameron was strolling around with quiet amusement at all the activity. This was a target rich environment for people watching. These people might be able to turn into whales or fly, but they're still very human. As she was making her way through the various game booths, she heard someone singing from up ahead. Music was the flame to her moth-iness, so she hurried up to see who was singing. 

The source of the voice was a petite brunette standing in a booth. If she was trying to get attention, she certainly had Cameron's. The young lady had decent pipes, and she had taken the words to a song and changed them up to match her task of the moment. That was a skill she greatly envied. It's something she might be able to learn someday.

When the song ended, she gave the singing student a hearty round of applause.
"That was very impressive......"

She looked at the game with a bit of confusion. Her grandparents had never taken her to street fairs or carnivals. That would have been beneath them, of course. Cameron had always wanted to go to these things, but her wishes were seldom granted. But now that she was at the Institute, she controlled her own destiny. Of course, she had to become a metal monster to do it. 

Maybe it was worth it after all? Paying the price of one aspect of her humanity to get another? She'd have to think on that.

She smiled with uncertainty at the singer.
"So how do you play this game?"
