Rylee wasn't normally one to volunteer for things, especially something called a 'community field day,' but she was incredibly new in Pilot Ridge, sort of lost for what felt like the first time in her life and was itching to be physically active. A lot of the events looked fun, save for the kissing booth which she rolled her eyes at as soon as she'd walked past it that morning. The thing was, Rylee felt weird participating in any competetive sport or contest that involved physical activity because it made her feel like a cheater, like she had an unfair advantage, even if it wasn't her fault. So she'd settled for signing up to help run the Tug of War, instead of participating in both that and the other races that involved running or jumping.
She'd been at Hammel for a few weeks and had started the next term with everyone, although she wasn't very happy with being there.
I seemed like the field day was a popular event though, like the townspeople of Pilot Ridge actually enjoyed it and so she stood near her station, long rope at her feet, waiting for people to bite, or at least to talk to her.
