Desired Rank/Job: Staff Member :: Teacher :: Political Science
Powers:
Hypnotic Suggestion: Ability to place another person in a hypnotic trance, leaving them vulnerable to suggestion, which varies in strength depending on the will of the individual subject. This ability cannot overbear someone’s will to the point of death, or to change their core values, and must have a time limitation. Hypnotic suggestion can occur through voice and on the rare occasion touch.
Clay uses his charming good looks and naturally charisma to the fullest with this power. It takes a toll on his mental and physical body, after using the ability depending on how strong the suggestion is will cause Clay to become physically weak and possibly pass out to massive migraines and nose bleeds. The stronger of the suggestion he placed on a person the more of a burden this has on him. Smaller tricks of this playing on emotions of individuals that already have these ideas playing out in their head. Clay has little control on these powers when he is under the influence of alcohol often unaware he is even using it. Those under his suggestive control depending on how forceful of a command it is will cause the person to black out the memory completely. He uses the medium of speech to use his power mainly but has been known to be able to give stronger suggestions if he has physical contact with a person. He still must talk even when touching or it will not work.

General Appearance:
Clay is a rather dashing young man. He stands at a height of 5 feet 11 inches. His skin tone is normally a base tan, he keeps this up in the winter by going to the tanning bed. He works out quite a great amount of time allowing him to retain a very fit and toned body. His hair is kept short but long enough so that he can shape it.
Clay being a young man while only graduating law school less than a year ago, he seems to have a sense of style for an older adult. He is often seen wearing button up shirts, khaki pants, dress shoes, and at times a tie. This is his main attire while on campus. During his down time seen around town or sometimes on campus he will wear more workout based attire or khaki pants and a v neck shirt or something simple like a polo shirt and sweater/ jacket.
Personality:
Clay is a rather introvert type of person. His Meyers Briggs’ personality type is an INTJ, aka the mastermind. He is a person that is a slave to schedules and rules. He often follows the same time frame, wakes up at 5 am goes for a 6 mile run, followed by a shower, morning breakfast of plate of scrambled eggs, whole wheat toast, and skim milk, plus at least three if not four cups of coffee.
He is a rather kind soul that is always seen sitting around the staff room or the library reading books or grading papers. He is a teacher that most students seem to find fun and interesting, being fresh out of college he seems to be able to connect with students rather easily. He constantly uses his power to stir students to constantly be excited about his class and find his information to be interesting.
Clay’s father was a meta-human that is one of the more vocal lawyers in the city of St. Louis. He teaches and practices law in the city. He teaches courses on human rights at the University of Saint Louis. He mother is a philanthropist in the city that helps run many free after school programs in the more lower class sectors of the city. Being part of a family that had such strong moral compass it was only natural for Clay to have the same tendencies.
Clay began showing signs of his powers at a young age, right on the onset of puberty around the age of thirteen. He was quickly recruited by the Hammel Institute but his father and mother believed that he should stay with them. His father and grandfather attended Hammel and while he knew that Clay would need to go there to master his ability he knew how lonely living there could be. His mother quit her job and moved to Vermont in a small home that her, Clay, and his sister all lived in while Clay and his sister would go to the school. His father would visit them on the weekends and holidays but mainly stay in St. Louis to teach.
He has been known to use the power every now and then for his own personal gains but never to the point that it would harm others. He mainly would use it to get an edge on the competition when it came to romance. Being a bisexual, meta-human, male he had to walk a very tight line when it came to some people in order to not set them off on him. He is not ashamed of his sexuality or powers but realizes that these kinds of things could be something very off putting to others.Your VicesLikes:
Working out: He has a strong desire to keep his body in peak physical shape. It is something that he uses often to help his pheromone control, he finds a having a good looking body and face does not make it hard to amplify a person’s emotion of desire. He is often found running the campus in the early morning or late evening hours.
Clay is a fashion snob to a slight degree. He likes to be seen as a well together young professional who is excelling at life. He wears the cloths for the job he wants rather than the job he has. This leads him to stand out from his peers as he will always try to dress to impress and keep a tidy and organized work area.
During the early mornings or early afternoons on the weekends you can often find Clay at the local coffee shop in town reading a book and enjoying a nice coffee. He will find himself sitting there for nearly an hour to two on end just reading his book and enjoying that day’s roast. If not careful he could lose track of time and be there all day long.
Clay owns two dogs, a black Labrador Retriever named Zeek and a Rhodesian Ridgeback named Maia. He views them as his closest friends and family. They matter more to him than most things in this world and he will use his powers to protect them if need be. He loves going to the dog park on the weekends with them. On cold winter and fall days he will often spend the day cuddled on the couch with the dogs and just enjoying a nice movie.
Dislikes:
Clay hates above anything else those that prey into his life unless he wants them in. This is because when his power started to manifest he was scared that others would judge him. He was even told that the government could try to take him away.
He also hates the fact that there are those out there that want to hurt meta humans. He has a very protective stance on the group and is willing to use his power and his knowledge in law to help the group out in any way that he possibly can.
Clay loathes disorganized people and places. When he sees a student that is constantly late to class, not well hygine, and has their papers scattered about it irks him to the point that he will kindly make a suggestion or two, perhaps with a little backing of his ability, for that student to get their act together or they will not survive the world after high school.

History
Clay was born to a family that was full of Meta-Humans. His father is a telepath that was a man that Clay always looked up to. His father taught law at the college that their family lived near and also practiced law, while his mother helped run and operate free after school programs across the city. This lead Clay to be raised with high morals and a belief that race, sex, religion, and being a meta human should not matter when it came to how you were treated or the right's you have.
When Clay first stated to show his abilities to be able to actually influence the minds of those that he spoke it was a gateway for Clay to quickly become one of the more popular kids in school. His new ability development did not go un-noticed, members of the Hammel Institute quickly found him only about a week after he manifested his powers. They attempted to recruit him to the school though his parents wanted to declined the offer but agreed to him going with a compromise. Three days later he was packed up and was on his way to Hammel. He would attend the school but in return he would still be able to live with his mother in a small home just a bit off campus. She was able to move to the town nearly a month after he arrived bringing his sister who also started showing powers the following year. He moved out of the temporary dorm room he was in and with them and stayed there for the rest of his time at Hammel. Once his sister and he graduated his mother moved back to St Louis and the two siblings went off to college.
As he aged and his hormones died down the abuse of his power was over and he started to use it less often and only in circumstances when he really needed to. During his college years Clay seemed to find his calling in life as a lawyer. He did his undergrad in pre law and business management At first he wanted to be a corporate lawyer or CEO of a company but quickly dismissed those ideas for ones of teaching or a civil rights lawyer like his father.
Once in law school though he saw that being a lawyer that actually practiced was something that he was not too sure was for him. He liked how he helped others but he felt that his true calling was in teaching, and who better to teach about their civil rights other than his own kind, the Meta-Humans. He remembered the Hammel Institute from his youth and sought them out for employment quickly after graduating at the age of 25.
This fall is Clay’s first year of teaching in general and returning to Hammel Institute. He has purchased a relatively small apartment near the downtown area of the small community and often commutes to work via his car. He still has a few boxes left to unpack but for the most part he is pretty settled down in town and is slowly starting to actually explore the area.

Clay tapped his foot at he sat at the front of the room. His glasses were on as he looked down at the test papers below that were from the last class. It was midterm time here at Hammel Institute and Clay Richards had six different classes to grade before the end of the weekend. This was his last class that he had left and there was only thirty minutes left on the clock.
He had checked 15 test before lunch, 6 during lunch, and a total of 22 since lunch for a grand total of 43 test out of his 123 test, about the third of the way there, he could have this done by tonight if he worked the whole way through. They got a four day weekend this week because of midterms so if he could get these test graded by tomorrow night he could take Zeek and Maia out to the mountains nearby and got camping for a few days.
He tapped his pen on the desk as he read over his student’s answer on the difference between Liberalism and Realism, they were wrong horribly wrong. It seemed that they had been too busy texting or reading Facebook on their phone to pay attention to this lecture on how Liberalism was more focused on organized institutions while Realism focused on beefing up oneself to protect them from others or be more powerful than others. He marked up the essay pointing out the faults and wrote little comments.
He was not prepared when the bell rang prompting that the end of the class. Students stood up from their seats and walked to the front of class dropping off their test and giving Clay smiles as they all walked out. Clay returned the smiles with those of his own and wished his students a fun and safe break. He would gather the remaining test and put them in his satchel before walking out of the classroom himself. What About You?Name: Just Clay
