Damn it. Why did Carter have to be so calm? Was Salem maybe looking for a fight? He wasn't really sure, but as he looked into the other's blue eyes and noticed a look, he calmed a bit more himself. With a bit of a sigh, he (over) dramatically flung himself face up on the couch and tilted his head towards the other. "Yes I assumed....and I totally give up trying to figure all these...emotions out." With that he rubbed his face roughly and huffed a bit.

It was obvious he was no longer angry, and he knew why. That look on Cater's face, that look that he actually might want to understand why Salem was upset. Did he mean it? Was he actually concerned? Either way, the look was oddly comforting. With another deep sigh he turned his gaze to the ceiling. A thought was forming in his head, and he didn't care for it. He didn't hate it either, but he didn't want to say it either.

"Look, I'm sorry I got so mad. Just...been through a lot, that's all." Oh, he meant it too. "So.." He turned his gaze once more to the other blonde and gave a weak smile. "Now that I've had my little break down and yelled at you, did you really come to visit me?" There was definite curiosity in his voice.

The smallest indicators worked to Carter's advantage. He turned slightly to ensure he was still facing the younger blonde despite the fact that he landed on the couch as he had. But at least he'd admitted that they were on the same page; there were assumptions flying - as there always were with the Chevalier name in play around Hammel's grounds - and he'd given into those notions without a word from the older twin himself.

When he lost Salem's gaze, he didn't turn his own eyes away. The apology drew a short smile to the terrakinetic's face, and for once he didn't work to level his features. Not simply because he doubted he'd ever have another look to catch it, but because it felt genuine enough to wear it. To allow it to infect his mentality as he usually mightn't.

With a few steps, Carter breached the distance between them. Despite the mess amidst the space and how he openly detested its presence, he sat at the edge of the couch anyway. He brought himself closer, pressing an arm to the back of the couch and leaning in slightly.

"Why else would I be here?"

Salem didn't register the movement for a moment. It wasn't until he felt the pressure on the couch that he looked up. Seeing Carter practically on top of him made him sit up on his elbows, which made them even closer. "Um, I'm not sure really. Maybe you were to see your brother and he wasn't around?" It was an innocent question and maybe Salem was trying to give Carter the benefit of the doubt.

After all, he just poured his soul out to the guy, he wouldn't try anything right? Still, this closeness brought back a lot of memories and the younger man couldn't help but blush a little. He didn't really smile with it, but his cheeks turned a very pale pink shade. More so when he actually realized how open his button down shirt was. That had to be like some sort of invitation didn't it? Couldn't be. Could it?

"Wh...what are you doing?" Salem finally managed to almost whisper as he gazed up at the other. Trembling a little on his elbows as they threatened to give way under him.

"If I were here for that I would have left." Carter pointed out. After all, he was hardly one to wait around, though his brother was the exception to a majority of his rules. Everything he offered was done with precision, this meeting included. If he hadn't wanted to be there, he simply wouldn't have been there.

Colour on the other blonde's cheeks wasn't lost on Carter, but he didn't look directly to it. Rather, there was something important about maintaining eye contact. The quiet question offered to him provided a newer sense of clarity; things felt a little muddled as it was. Everything about this was screaming with the notions of a compromising position. But Carter could make a stretch to move at any kind of request.

"Expressing a point." He replied, raising his eyebrows in curiosity, "Maybe changing your misconception."

"Oh." The reply was simple, and sort of flat. Not lacking emotion or anything, just thinking about brothers put Salem's mind in another place. Somewhere he would very much like to avoid going. So he began to focus on the man in front of him. As he did, he couldn't help but notice how intense he was. In a good way of course. It wasn't just the other's looks either, it was his personality. It seemed to demand attention.

Which is very possibly why Salem felt himself keeping his eyes locked to the other blue orbs staring at him. His guard dropping a little as he relaxed back on his elbows. Maybe Carter wasn't as close to him as he was thinking. The other was probably just getting a comfortable spot on the couch, and all that seemed to make sense. That didn't mean he was fully at ease yet however, but he didn't ask Carter to move. Curiosity had gotten the better of him.

"A point huh?" Salem's soft country accent slipped the words out. "What would that point be? And how would you change this 'misconception'?" The questions were still soft, and seemingly more relaxed.

A point. Carter nodded to the question, phrased as it was. The softer notes of Salem's voice weren't lost on the older twin. They were little things he took on board. They'd help in the long run.

"You seemed to know better." Carter started, exhaling a soft sigh. The air between them was thigh enough already, the last thing it needed was pressure from his side. But as his hand stayed fastened to the back of the couch and he leaned over this boy, he knew he wasn't helping. "But you're angry. I'm guessing given the state of this room you've been angry for a while."

He knew none of his friends. So little of his story. These were just facts, and despite how they could paint a greater picture, they weren't pertinent, "So I'm here. What is it you need? Sex? A punching bag? A drink? An ear?" It was all relative.

"Here I am."

What in the world was going on in Salem's head. Beside the fact it felt like it was being pulled in a million different directions. Not that this was that unusual, but still. Carter was not helping this situation. The younger meta wanted to punch him and kiss him all at the same time.

Salem pretended not to notice as Carter moved just every so slightly closer to him. It wasn't a big deal really, if he wanted something, he would have already done it. At least, that's what Salem was rationalizing in his head. "Yes..yes I'm angry." He had to wonder if even though his words and demeanor were somewhat calm, if that deep seeded seething was showing through. "I guess you guessed right, I mean...the roomies aren't to happy with me about it, but Georgie Girl isn't one to complain. As far as Luke is concerned, I don't really give a damn what he thinks." A more truer statement could not have been spoken at that moment.

Carter shocked the blonde a little. Was he offering some sort of moral support? Was he seriously offering sex? "I don't need anything..." No anger came with the words, just a flat tone. This was something that had become second nature to him now, blowing off anyone offering help. "Why would you want to anyway, you barely know me."

Salem admitted to his anger as easily as Carter had picked up on it. Perhaps he felt no need to hide it given the denotion the older blonde had just offered him. He could only hope there was comfort to be found in being so easily understood. Or maybe he did just want to clock the Chevalier in the jaw with a decent right hook. At this point, things could still go either way.

Pressed lips cracked into a smile as Salem continued. How he spoke of his second roommate without a care. There was something entirely endearing about it; it was a side he didn't know, but one he appreciated with the look he clearly wore in that moment.

Surprise coloured his bright eyes where Carter's remained stagnant. He hardly saw anything wrong with the offer provided. There was conviction in his tone; had it been wanted, he would have gone there in a heartbeat. There was no shame in offering something that'd gone so well for them both in the past.

"Because," Carter started, exhaling a short sigh. He felt tense; the kind of tension that came from even stepping near a topic like this with anyone, "Your current outlook reminds me a great deal of someone very important to me. I nearly lost him to the senselessness, and that was the worst threat of all." To his mentality. To his life. A fight with Dominique Chevalier which ended up in months of frozen out silence. "You must have people who want to watch you. It isn't easy standing on the outside waiting to be let in."

There was no way Salem could miss the smile on the Chevalier twins face. Why did it have to be such a nice smile? Why did Salem have to be in the state he was in where things like that worked on him. Even the skin on his chest turned a shade of pink. No, the younger blonde was not going to have this. He couldn't just let Carter back in, not now...it wouldn't be right.

If that was the case, then why was he actually considering it? Why was the urge to punch him being over taken by the urge to kiss him? Salem was hating this internal struggle. He had something else to focus on though. Carter's words were seemingly sincere, but still, the man was worrying for nothing. "I'm fine...really." Okay, so this was less than true. Salem was VERY far from fine. In fact the concerns that Carter seemed to be expressing had crossed Salem's mind several times. Today included.

"I think you're worrying enough for anyone that would care. Besides...i told all of the to go to Hell." It was another blunt statement, but there was a little smile on his face. With a gentle movement, the illusionist reached up and touched the other male's face. "No need to worry about me...honest."

Fine was a difficult word to take in. Carter struggled with its meaning in most moments; this one in particular filled him with the type of second guessing he wasn't familiar with. Truth was, he didn't know Salem that well. How could he? The indicators he'd caught were those that echoed in a far too familiar way. He hadn't been able to direct Dom in a decent way, but perhaps he could do better with someone who had so little through his own fault.

"Most people have heard that enough times by now to know when it's hollow." He replied, the smile he wore growing to a slightly amused grin, "I myself have been informed there's a suite waiting for me at the top of Satan's tower."

Because surely, a little joke - factual as it might have been - was worth it in a moment like this.

Those notes dissipated at familiar contact to the side of his face, boiling back to something far more genuine. A slight lean down towards him provided enough understanding that such contact was both warranted and, on some level, wanted. "Is that what you'd genuinely like me to believe?" Carter asked, eyes searching for surety in a matched expression and tone. There was far more conviction to be sought than a choice of words alone in a personal, constricting crisis.

When he mentioned people wishing him Eternal Damnation, Salem had to laugh. It was a bit louder than intended, but he didn't apologize for it. "You? Condemned to Hell? Never.." The words were highly sarcastic. "I've said it about you myself a few times actually." Another flat little statement that meant nothing other than what he had said. Plus, it seemed as though Carter found it rather humorous, so Salem deemed it an appropriate comment.

Now there was the matter of what to actually do with Carter. Sure, there was that slightly nagging voice that steadily whispered 'Kiss Him' in the back of his mind, but that seemed to be conflicting with everything else in his brain. Especially when it looked as though the older blonde wanted to be touched like that. Salem decided, for the moment, to leave his hand where it was and answer the question that had just been posed to him.

"Honestly? No..I'm not fine. I'm far from it, but I'll be okay." He gave a half hearted smile and slowly dropped his hand away. "Well. okay being a relative term, but still. I'm sure I'll be just fine." Salem's eyes focused on the other, waiting to see what he'd do next.

"We could be neighbours." Carter mused lightly, raising his eyebrows with the hint of a smirk to the fact. Still, he shrugged his shoulders, "Or roommates. You never know."

It was rare for a Chevalier to ever give up the power in a conversation. Carter had learned from a young age that there was absolutely always a way to switch a situation around to work in his favour. There was a way to steal all the strength for himself and run a moment as he felt the need to. So to actively ask if Salem wanted him to believe something was a new way to go about things. It felt strange, and it probably sounded it, too.

But in the end, whatever he wanted, Carter had already promised to comply with.

The loss of contact forced his eyebrows up in evident surprise, and a second later he took a small, slow breath. "You'd like for me to know that you're not fine, but that you will be." He conceded, wondering if he'd pieced that together properly.

Drawing back, Carter sat straight for a spare second before he actively stood up. Being brushed off was no bother for someone so completely used to it. "Then there isn't much I can do, is there."
