Corbin, can we get some candy? (Corbin)

Dressed in a grey bunny-eared hoodie, a pair of jeans with a large ball of cotton stapled to the bottom slightly off center, a pair of light-up sneakers with pink lights, and a pink and white bicycle helmet, Amber peddled up to a large grey-ish warehouse and came to a stop once she got to it. Panting a little as she had been pedaling super duper fast the last bit, she got off of the bike and put the kick stand down before taking her helmet off and putting it on the seat. Stepping away from the pink bicycle with it's white and pink streamers that came from the handles, she pushed a button on the little remote she had and a chirping sound came from the little cat toy that was in the front basket of her bike.

Then, putting her bunny hood up for courage and adjusting the ears and wriggled her nose a couple of times before walking up to the door that read "Jacobs Metalworking". This was the place. She was more than sure of it now. Pulling Binny out of the front of her hoodie and hugging him against her with one arm, she took a breath big enough to make her shoulders rise up, then let it out before looking down at him.

"This is it, Binny. Wish me luck." She told him as if he could speak back.

She then marched her way up to the door which was wide open with music coming out of it.

"Corbin!" She called out, trying to yell over the music.

"Corbin!" She called again until she spotted some really big guy moving a really big box onto a table.

She just stood there with her eyes wide for a moment before looking down to Binny. Then, tugging on her bunny ear once for courage, she ran up to him.

"Corbin?" She asked, now bouncing a bit where she stood, her excitement getting the best of her.

She had the biggest smile on ever as she was starting to think it was him. And thinking that just made her bounce more.

Today was a cleaning day. Move everything around, sweep everything, blow off the old stock and the machines, replace coolant where required, empty chip trays, inspect nozzles, and generally tidy up the shop. It wasn't the most entertaining of work, but Pandora made everything better.. and as Corbin had been cleaning he'd made a new station that he was calling 'Classic shit to clean to'. A bunch of songs from the 70s and 80s that were fast enough to get one pumped and clear enough to sing along to to keep one motivated..

He'd already loaded the heaviest of things on his flatbed truck to be taken to the local recycling spot later, but for the moment he was moving a wooden box half-full of delrin scraps of various sizes and colors. It was pretty light compared to steel, but there was a lot here, and Corbin grunted as he strained to lift the box onto a shelf as Hotel California blared on his shop stereo.. He glanced around and behind himself as he got the faint impression his name had been called, and looked back to the box for a moment with a shrug before turning to head toward the door... and then nearly jumped out of his skin.

Who the fuck let their kids into a place like this!? He stared at the girl in shock for an instant before quickly scanning the area for an adult.. Only to find a pink and white bicycle as the only apparent chaperone. He stared from the bike to the girl and back again, then rested his forehead in his palm for a moment before turning and simply walking away....

A few seconds later he reached up to the wall and the music stopped.. The only noise in the shop being a few big fans that were running here and there and creating a healthy breeze. "Aight kid, I have no idea what you're doing here but this isn't any kind of a safe place for a little girl. Or anybody that I don't know about. I could have been on that forklift and killed you.. What the heck are you doing here? Where are your parents? Do you know their phone number? I can call them and tell them to pick you up. You really shouldn't be in here."

It would be obvious to anyone older that Corbin was the tiniest bit miffed at having just gotten the crap scared out of himself.. and would have otherwise perhaps been a bit more calm.. but holy freakin crap random little ninja bunny chick just suddenly appearing next to him.. staring at him.. Augh.

He walked away, but she kept bouncing, her excitement building and Binny getting squished more and more. But he was used to it. He was a squisher. Her smile got as big as it could, almost all of her teeth showing and her eyes pretty much glittering. It was him! He looked like her dad, so he had to be her dad's son, right? So he had to be her big brother. Even while he talked, she wasn't paying much attention as she was too focused on the thoughts that were running a bajillion miles a minute in her head while she looked at him. Them going even faster when he walked back to where he had been first.

She unzipped the hoodie, having had a white shirt underneath, and Binny was stuffed in before the hoodie was zipped up quickly and then she ran over closer to him. The table between was hopped-climbed onto in hyperactive sugar-child speed and then she was hopping onto him with her arms around his neck in an affection coated sugarball of a hug.

"Corbiiiiiinnnn~!" She squealed in delight.

"You can't get them to come pick me up, silly, they're in Alaska. I'm Amber. And I'm safe, 'cause I'm with my big brother!" She exclaimed before giggling and letting go to stand on the somewhat crowded table top.

"Hey get the hell off th--Oof!" And suddenly there was a ten year old hanging from Corbin's neck.. Who knew his name..... and.. then knew where his parents were... and then claimed to be his little sister.

Corbin froze for several seconds in .. maybe fear, maybe shock. He wasn't sure. Having a little bunny-shaped missile plow into one's chest was a good enough reason to freeze, right? To assess things? To assess her claim that he wasn't an only child... and knew his name.. and where his parents were..

He reached forward as if to hug the girl before wrapping his hands around her sides and lifting her from around his neck, holding her out at arm's length and just staring very, very confused. "Okay.. Really clever. Whoever put you up to this did their research. You probably know my mom and dad's names too. But I know my mom was done having kids. One was enough. You can't be my sister. It's not possible. Besides, you're.. what, twelve? My mom only moved twelve years ago.. So you are impossible. You're cute, yay bunnies haha whatever, but you aren't my sister. You can't be. Now who sent you in here and where are they hiding? I have some words for them."

His arms moved and she expected a hug, but instead, she was being held out and she giggled, wriggling some and kicking her legs slightly in a playful manner. When he began talking, she took a candy out of the little chest pocket of her hoodie and went to unwrapping it. But, when she heard what he was saying, her jaw dropped a little and the candy dropped from her hands to go clicking and clacking and cracking onto the floor in a bunch of pieces as if to symbolize what just happened in her chest.

Her kicking stopped and she just looked at him. Her expression was much like that character off of Shrek. Puss n' Boots.

"But...... but..... but you're....."

Those big sad eyes glassed up and her bottom lip shook. Then, her brows came down and she got the most determined bunny look as she reached out and tried to pull back into a hug.

"You're Corbin! Daddy had you with Elise, not Mommy but you're my brother! Mommy told me so!" She exclaimed.

"She said to find you!"

Dear. God. Those eyes. That look. Was this little girl an empathic manipulator or something? No way just that look could make Corbin feel like he'd been the one to steal her candy and smash it in front of her face. WHY did he feel so horrible all of a sudden? Ack! "Y-ya know what? We can solve this in a hurry." He set the girl down on the table next to him. "Imma just call my dad. Which I haven't done.. ever. Just gonna call him and break like .. a lot of years worth of radio silence. Because some little chick is in here claiming to be my sister. Stay there."

And Corbin turned around, pulling a phone from his pocket.. calling a number in his contacts.

"Yeah, Jerry? Jerry Jacobs? ..Hey, yeah, quick question. Did you cheat on your wife at some point? . . . . Have a little girl? Early teens?........... Amber. Huh. It's your son. Who else would be calling you asking you this? She's here. Yes. In my shop. She is sitting on a table right now staring at me with this sickening grin cause she knows she's right.... Well I get that you thought I was pissed at you, I am pissed at you, and I will probably always be pissed at you.. maybe even moreso now that I know you freaking cheated on mom, but one of you two should have fucking told me I have a baby sister. Oh, shove it with 'respecting my privacy'. I know you have a pair, you made two freakin kids with 'em, the least you could have done was sent me a text or a damned email letting me know I have a sibling! ...Just.. just don't apologize to me right now. I have to figure out what to do with the bunny in my shop. ...Yeah. Maybe I'll give you a call this weekend. No promises. Later."

He heaved a great and heavy sigh, running his hand through his hair and staring up at the ceiling for several long seconds before turning around with a still-shocked look on his face. "Okay, then.. Amber, I guess I owe you a hug. After all, it's not every day you meet your little sister."

He'd kneel down, arms open, prepared to receive bunnyglomps.. But really completely unprepared for.. whatever having a younger half-sibling really meant.

When he told her that they could solve this in a hurry and then set her down on the table, she crossed her arms with a soft "hmph" and looked at him liked he owed her something. Which he did. Being held out like that was fun and all but he had to admit it. He had to admit he was her brother. When he told her he was going to call dad and went to saying it was because some chick was claiming to be his sister she crossed her arms a little tighter. She wasn't a chick. She was a bunny. Couldn't he see her ears?

When she was told to stay there and Corbin turned around, she was distracted by something she felt in her pocket during her arm crossing. Did... she have more candy!? A soft gasp came from her and she went to uncrossing her arms before quickly reaching into the pocket to find a candy necklace there. Yes! She loved these things! Not only were they sugary but they were fun too.

Amber, now oblivious to the conversation going on, pulled the necklace over her head and stretched it out in front of her, eying it for a moment before giving a happy sound and biting off a couple of pieces. As she chewed the candy she had bitten off, she began to look for special targets, closing one eye as she took aim. A big smile came and her front teeth took hold of one of the rings of the candy necklace before she stretched the band back. A small sharp bite after and a light "ping" sounded as she hit the can.

She went to bouncing as she munched on more of the necklace, getting another shot off before she heard the background noise of talking stop. By this point she had eaten all but those two pieces and she turned around with the empty string around her neck as she looked at him. Well, hop-turned.

That big smile was on her face again when Corbin told her that he owed her a hug and finally admitted she was his sister. He knelt down with his arms open and she literally jumped into a hug, giggling happily.

"See! See! I told you!" She told him before laughing while she hugged him with all her might.

She pulled back some so she could look at him, her eyes full of excitement and a slight hint of a sugar rush.

"I'm a super-hero. I heard you're a super-hero too. I know it's supposed to be called a Meta, but I like super-hero better because it sounds more cool. How long have you been a super-hero? Me, I've been one for half a year. We didn't know I was one at first but then we talked to Missus Elise and she told Mommy that I was one. A Meta, not a super-hero, but it's the same thing, right? Then she told Mommy that you're one too and where you are and that you went to Hammel too. Mommy wanted me to find you but I forgot until I was cleaning my bag and found it again. The letter. Then, I came here so I wouldn't forget again and I saw you and first I wasn't sure, then I was, then I wasn't. Then, I looked at you really good and knew it was you." She told him possibly in the span of about fifteen seconds with how fast she was talking.

Amber had already had a bunch of candy before coming here, so she had been a little hyper already. But that necklace had made her even more hyper though for now it was coming out mostly in word form.

"Dang girl, slow down a bit.. You're talking a mile a minute.." As the girl had been eagerly chatting away, Corbin hahd taken the opportunity to get a good look at her. She didn't look much like him, but holy crap did she have his eyes.. their dad's eyes. It was like looking into a younger, more energetic mirror..

"I'll tell you what, if there's one good thing that Dad passed on, it wsa his eyes. Anybody told you lately that you have really pretty eyes, Amber? Cause you do. And every time you talk to somebody it's important that you look them in the eyes so they know you mean what you say and cause your eyes show them what kind of person you are. You're a good person, right? No little sister of mine is gonna be anything but a good person." Oh crap, so, so much to catch up on...

Corbin stood and picked Amber up again to set her back on the table where she'd been before, taking a step back and surveying her again. "So.. You like bunnies, I take it? And.. that used to be a candy necklace so you must like candy too.. Sugar and spice and everything nice.. Wow, I kinda wish I had a plan here. You caught me when I'm all grubby and dusty from cleaning.. No dinner plans or anything. --Oh, crap, but you asked me some questions, didn't you. Uh.. I've been a meta for.. well.. longer than you've been alive. And some of us are super heroes, but you gotta be a little careful cause some of us are supervillains too.. even though a lot of us are just trying to be normal people. And yeah, I went to Hammel.. uh.. Okay, so just two questions I can remember. But you can ask me anything you want, I guess... What kinda food do you like? If you rode your bike all the way from Hammel we need to get you something to eat, right?"

Hopefully being enthralled by her big brother would give Amber the stability she needed to slow down enough to listen to him. Corbin didn't speed-talk like Amber was clearly a professional at. He spoke as a calm and steady pace when he wasn't getting the crap scared out of himself by little girls randomly appearing in his shop. And ugh. Riding all the way from Hammel at her age? Brave little girl. But she'd be getting a ride back.

"Oh, hey.. and.. what's your super power? Mine's pretty boring, I'm just really tough. Like superman but I can't fly or do the laser eyes.. and I'm not super strong. It's just really hard to hurt me. I call it 'stoneskin'."

Amber giggled whens he was told to slow down and that she was talking a mile a minute. She got that a lot, but it was still funny every time. Sometimes she even talked as fast as she could after to play some. But, she didn't do that this time. Instead, she just smiled all big after finishing giggling and looked at him while he went to telling her about her eyes and how she should look at a person while talking to them. Well, look at them in the eyes.

When she was asked if she was a good person, she nodded. Her mom always told her that she was a good person. That she had been raised to be a good girl and that she should do her best to keep that way. Even if it was alright to be a little bad sometimes like having icecream for dinner once in a long while. They were both being bad then, but it was a good kind of bad as long as they didn't do it too many nights in a row.

Amber was giggling again when he gave her an air lift up to the table and she stepped in place a couple of times quickly due to excess energy. If it hadn't been for him starting to speak, she might have started walking around on the table to see how much of it she could step on without stepping on the boxes and other stuff. She did, however, begin bouncing up and down again though when he went to asking her things, her only barely holding back from bluring out the answers as he continued.

By the time he was done though, she was dropping down, landing in a sit on the edge of the table and kicking off her shoes. Not having been wearing socks, she wriggled her toes with a big all teeth showing smile at him. In the next moment she was running over to the closest wall before running up it a ways. She couldn't run all the way up, because she wasn't that strong, but once she had her hands on the wall too she was crawling along it.

"I can climb things! Everything! And I can stick onto things too. And I can eat one hundred thousand pounds of candy!" She exclaimed before crawling to another spot on the wall as the stickiness of her hands and feet became a little less sticky.

"I loooove candy. And ice cream. And cake. And pancakes." She told him, almost scurrying around by this point.

She raced up until she was on the ceiling then swung down until she was just sticking by her feet, bending and unbending her knees so she was kind of swinging even if she kept pushing the "glue" out through her feet to keep them stuck to the surface.

"Corbin, can we get some candy?" She asked.

Amber's older brother was just about to ask why she'd taken her shoes off (it was dangerous to walk around barefoot in a shop) when suddenly he had a little sister that was literally crawling up the wall of his shop. "Oh shit she's a fucking spider." To say that the look on Corbin's face was priceless might be an understatement. If one could make their net value the approximate value of Corbin's face when Amber let go with her hands and swung by her feet from the ceiling, they could solve the deficit problem for every single country on earth, fix world hunger, buy Microsoft and Google, and still have plenty of money left over to live lavishly for the rest of their lives.

"Dude, literally if you get the hell down here I will do anything you want there is no way that is safe!" ...Cause NO WAY THAT WAS SAFE. Especially if this hyperactive little chick was eating pounds and pounds of sugar. Hell naw. If she didn't come down remarkably quickly, Corbin would jump swiftly into his forklift and steer the thing underneath her, raising the forks so that she could just do a handstand on the pallet that was on the forks, lowering her down when she was safely on the pallet.

Whether she'd gotten down with or without help, Corbin would very quickly get between her and the walls. "Okay. Rules. One, you never ever come in this shop if I don't know you're here. Two.. You never, ever, ever, ever get on my ceiling again. Three, Stay off the walls too. Four, don't ever get on my walls or ceiling! Five.. THE HELL. YOU'RE A SPIDER WHAT THE CRAP LITTLE GIRL??"

She giggled at first but then it turned into a full blown laughter when she went from seeing the look on his face to hearing him yell up to her. He was funny. She was just fine. She had plenty of the goo and wouldn't fall as long as the sprinklers and stuff didn't turn on or something.

"Ooookay~" She told him in a sing song voice.

A soft grunting came from her as she pulled herself back up into a crawling position and she kicked her feet loose one by one before crawling along the ceiling and scrambling down the wall once she reached it. It didn't take her long to get back down onto the floor but once she did, her big brother was moving between her ant the wall before speaking.

While he spoke, she took Binny out of her hoodie and hugged onto the fluffy friend. Though, while Corbin spoke, her eyes got bigger and bigger. But when he got to the last part, she was laughing again and went to hugging him.

"I like you! You're funny!" She giggled out.

Amber looked up at him.

"I'm not a spider, I'm a girl, silly. I just stick to things. And things stick to me sometimes." She told him, smiling a bright little smile.

She stopped hugging him and made her way over to her shoes before stepping into them, wriggling her feet some so they would get in there properly. When her left shoe gave her trouble, she set Binny down on the table and ducked down to use her hands to get the shoe on before straightening up again and crabbing hold of the bunny once more.

"Do you have candy here? I only have a snack size skittle left." She asked and informed.

"You.. You stick to things? That's your thing? You're living Velcro? Like.. I mean...." He paused and rubbed lightly at his forehead before heaving a heavy sigh. "Well I suppose that's a first. Cool. My half sister makes monkeys look like no big deal. And goo. There's goo involved. Goo that.. Is fueled by sugar? You are weird, little girl. But I guess that's at least.. Uh.. Interesting? What.. Kind of candy do you like? I guess I could use a break.. How about like.. A root beer float or something? We can go for a ride. In my car over there." He pointed at the beautiful cream-colored '69 Chevelle in the lot through the door.

"And.. I mean, if your ability uses sugar I guess you aren't gonna end up diabetic? Cause.. Well obviously you ain't overweight or anything but I dunno if I want a sugar-fueled spider-rocket bouncing all over my shop all day. ---Does Hammel even know you're here? Don't they keep an eye on the younger kids? I really feel like you should have a chaperone that isn't also a plush bunny, dude.."

When Corbin talked about living velcro, Amber giggled at imagining that. Then, she quickly became glad that she wasn't velcro, because velcro couldn't stop being sticky and it was scratchy sometimes too. And it got fuzz and lint stick to it all the time. Though... if she had lint and fuzz all over her all the time then all she would need would be those long ears, the hopping and the teeth and she would have an instant bunny suit. Though, did she want to be a bunny more, or a kid. She did like being a kid. A lot. And if by some chance, some way, some how, there really was a Peter Pan, then she wouldn't want to miss the chance of being a kid forever if she was mistaken for being a bunny-person or something.

"Hey, your weird, my awe~some!" Amber exclaimed when he commented about her being a weird little girl.

She bounced a bit in place as she thought over the different candies when he asked her about which she liked, a big smile on her face and her eyes practically glittering. She was so busy listing off the candies in her head that she only caught about half of what he had said afterwards.

"I like all of them. 'Cept the hot ones. Nobody likes it when I get the hot ones. Noope." She stated.

"I like rootbeer floats, I like car rides but only if Binny can be up front too. Hammel probably knows? I think they do? Yeah, they probably do. Most likely do. I left a note and a drawing with me holding a note with a bunny next to me. It wasn't Binny, seeing how the bunny was way too big to be Binny. And Binny is a good bunnyrone. Bunnyrone because it'd be kinda weird for a bunny to be a sheeperone, wouldn't it? Do you say "dude" a lot? Should I say dude? Dude dude dude dude.. Yeah! I think I like that. Let's go get that rootbeer float, dude!♥"

At 'Dude dude dude dude..' Corbin's shoulders dropped and he covered his forehead firmly with his hand. "No. No you shouldn't say dude. Dude is my thing. Man, Homie, and Son are also my thing. You need to come up with your own things. For a little girl, I recommend you start with Sir and Ma'am." Ugh, it sounded so weird for a twelve year old to say 'dude'... "But.. uh, yeah. I guess Binny can sit up front too."

And so Corbin would lead Amber inside.. closing up the giant garage door with the push of a button as he opened the door to the house... about the same time he began to instantly regret this turn of events.. because he was going to have to let Amber have free reign of his living room for a few minutes while he cleaned up. "Okay, so if we're going to go anywhere, I have to clean up some. I'm all sweaty and gross and I'm not getting in my car like this, let alone being seen around town.. But you gotta be good. Really. I'm not gonna want you here if you tear up my stuff or go snooping around. I have a really nice TV and you can watch whatever you want on there and I only need like ten minutes to hop in the shower super fast.. So.. like, this is the first test.. I guess? A little sister aught to listen to her big brother, right? And behave for him?"

He then dropped to a knee and looked from Amber to Binny and back again, finally settling on Binny.. "And I'm trusting both of you, understand? So if stuff is broke, you and Binny are both in trouble, and no candy." When he stood back up, he did so while picking Amber up, tossing her over his shoulder. Why? Because.. like.. wasn't that one of the god-given privileges to big brothers? That they could just scoop up and haul their sisters around whenever they wanted? Amber would be plopped down on the couch and the TV would turn on, Corbin switching to Nick Jr... because.. um.. that was the right kinda stuff for someone Amber's age to watch.. wasn't it?

He blocked the TV, though, to reaffirm his point. "Seriously. I come back and you're still sitting here and not being a little terror.. you get candy and we can come back here and hang out and do whatever you want.. I come back out and you've made a mess and you get a ride straight back to Hammel and that's it. We clear?"

If Amber gave an affirmative response, Corbin would hand her the remote and head toward him room.... stopping briefly to take what looked like a board game box from beneath the chair in the living room to take with him.. He would return roughly twelve minutes later, skin still rosy from the heat of the shower...

Amber laughed when Corbin spoke out the string of dudes, her finding it more than a little funny. His reactions were just funny. She giggled when he listed off his other words and stuck her tongue out a little when he told her to start with "Sir" and "Ma'am". She only really did that to older people. Like really really older people. Of course, Amber lit up when he told her that Binny could sit up front, her almost racing along as Corbin led her further into the building.

She kind of bounced in place when he stopped and began to speak to her about her behaving herself and not snooping around or tearing stuff up. She wouldn't tear stuff up, she wasn't a puppy she was a kid. And as soon as he had mentioned the TV, she had known she might end up watching it. Though, when he came down to more of her level to tell her that he was trusting both her and Binny, and that if something was broken there'd be no candy as well as there being trouble (because yes her brain decided that was the order of importance), her eyes widened and she gave a bit of a gasp.

That gasp turned into a giggle and a squeal soon enough though as she was tossed over his shoulder, squirming playfully until she was plopped down on the couch. Then she looked up at him with the biggest smile ever, truly being happy about having him as a big brother. Even while he made it a point to make sure she knew what was what, she smiled at him her eyes almost twinkling.

"Like crystal!" She exclaimed.

The remote was handed to her and he was leaving after taking some box from under the chair in the living room. Amber wasn't paying much attention to that at that point though, her eyes on the television. By the time he had come back though, her attention had already left from the TV and went on to skittles battles on the arm of the chair, before the skittles all made it to the inside of her stomach, then she had flipped upside down in the chair while playing with Binny up until she had spotted her big brother coming into the room.

He may have never seen a non super-speed person move so fast before. Amber was off of the chair, scampering over to him, then pouncing on to him into a hug that would have been a tackle had she had the strength to topple him over. Which, she did not, so she ended up dangling instead.

"Can we get the candy now? And the rootbeer float? Will the rootbeer float have sprinkles? Is it even good with sprinkles? Will there be one scoop of icecream or two? Are we gonna share or are we each gonna have one? What are we gonna do after the rootbeer floats? Were you cleaning? Can I help? I'm a good cleaner. Mommy had me help clean sometimes. I'm really good with the floors, and the walls, and windows. But just the ones I can reach. But I can reach them all now, can't I? How strong are you? That box looked heavy. How heavy was it? I got bored so I ate the skittles. Here I saved one for you."

She pulled the skittle out of the package that was in her pocket and held it up with one hand in front of his face while managing to still cling in the pounce position on him where she had been while pelting him with her hyper happy chatter.
