The easy S T U F F . . .
Name: Karen Rose Queen
Nickname: Kare-bear (by her sister and her sister alone)
Age: Thirty
Member Group: Local
Power(s): Teleportation. Karen is able to focus on a place and to transport herself and up to the amount she can easily carry in her hands or on her person such as in her pocket or being worn on her body, to a location she has been to before. The plus side is that the teleportation happens in the blink of an eye, the downside is that there is a rush of dizziness and it takes her a moment to get her bearings once she's gotten from point A to point B. If somehow restrained in a way where, for example, she's tied to a tree or handcuffed to a radiator that's attached to a wall or something, she would be unable to teleport seeing how she is unable to lift said tree or the building the radiator is attached to. So if she gets her head stuck in between the bars of the railing of a stairway like she had when she was a teenager, she will have to get out the old fashioned way. Too much teleporting scrambles her brains a bit, and seeing how the teleporting seems to be a bit addicting and she uses it somewhat on the regular, this means she often has memory issues. To make up for this, she keeps notes for events, appointments, things of interest, and sales in a digital diary of hers. It is more of fresher memories that are effected by the "scrambling". If she can not focus enough, she can not teleport. She also can not teleport over insane distances like from Vermont to Iceland or something like that. The furthest she can go is up to twenty miles and going that far of a distance has her closing her shop for a few days as it takes her that long to get her head straight. This is something she can not do often and will not due to how strongly the side effects impact her. The only reason she can go there like that is due to the strength of the familiarity combined with the emotional attachment to the place. As far as a daily kind of thing, she can usually teleport up to 5150 feet, which is one hundred thirty feet short of a mile.

♛Looking into the mirror♛
Karen stands at five feet, eight inches tall and her frame is not the one of a fitness trainer but it's got a decent tone to it. Just because she's the owner of an antique shop, it doesn't mean she doesn't get around or have time to be active. She has three piercings; one in each ear and another through her right nipple. Her eyes are a green hazel and her hair is naturally a very dark brown though she often dyes it black and on occasionally red. Sometimes she will spice things up by wearing extensions to lengthen her hair or to add in other colours. Her skin is what some would categorize under a rich tan in colour and is evenly so up until the birthmark she has on the back of her neck that's about the size of a quarter which is a creamy coloured blotch. She often wears false lashes to give a thicker and longer look to her lashes as she enjoys the dramatic flare. She doesn't often go overboard though as if her sister catches it she teases her mercilessly.
♛On to the personality♛
While in her shop or on business she isn't really the type to get easily excited and if one were to ask her, she might claim that she had likely run out of over-excitability during her younger years, despite her not exactly being all that old. Though, while off the clock and on what she calls her free time, she had some playfulness and a bit of a free spirit to her where she allows herself a little bit of fun. Karen is pretty casual and laid back and during what would normally be stressed situations, she manages to keep a level head. The way she reacts when other people are freaking out about something is to first try to talk to them to calm them down, then if that doesn't work, casually smack them upside the back of the head to see if that works. It usually works, so she figures why not, though it's not like a situation like that comes up often so there is that to think about.
Karen very much enjoys her antique shop seeing how she loves old things and restoring artifacts. Well, not exactly artifacts but she she likes to call them that. Now, when an antique is in horrible condition, she isn't too happy about that and even less so when it's beyond repair but she doesn't make a huge deal of it. She goes out for a drink and a dance that night and goes on as usual the next day. Her favorite drink is the "Adios Motherf*cker", which she handles quite well. She loves scalp and hand massages. Scalp due to it relieving tension and hand due to her using her hands a lot during the day.
There are of course things that she dislikes even if she manages to keep a calm composure while those things are going on. People who start yelling and going on to try to intimidate someone, for one. Intimidation doesn't work on her. Attempts to do something like that actually makes her less likely to do what they want to try to bully her into. She also doesn't like it when people use her bathroom and leave a mess afterwards and it's one of the reasons why she has the "bathroom banned" list with photos included for those who left it in an obscene state after use. Karen doesn't like it when people leave little kids to wander about the store without paying attention to what they are doing as they just get into everything.
She has a few fears even if she manages to handle them pretty well. A fear of flying is one of them as she hates the thought up being brought that high up into the air in what could too easily become burning scraps of metal and plastic. She has a fear of childbirth, so she plans on never ever becoming pregnant in the first place. And she has a fear of zombies. Yes, it's a silly fear but it's one she hasn't been able to shake even if it came from having seen night of the living dead when she was seven years old. She simply avoids certain movies and has plans to move to Canada if there is ever a zombie apocalypse.
Her sexuality is straight.

♛Almost like a fairy tale♛Thirty years ago with a slap and a scream the fruit of the union between King and Queen was born.....
Okay, let me not do this. This is just too silly...
Kathy King and Josh Queen actually hadn't begun their romantic interest until their classmates jokingly voted them King and Queen of the prom. Sure at first they had rolled their eyes about it and begrudgingly went along with it but as the night went on they realised that they actually had a good deal in common as far as their likes and their way of thinking and such. Sure they didn't have one of those fairytale instant romances or anything like that but they did become friends out of it. Though there was plenty of teasing and pressure going on to start a relationship of a deeper level due to their surnames, it wasn't the pushing that had them finally get together, even if they let their friends and family believe so as they would think that anyways. Karen was born not too long after the two were married. In fact, it wasn't even a full nine months as she had been a little bun in the oven before the knot was even tied. No one really worried about that though. It was a smooth birth with minimal time needed in between the actual labour and the bringing of the child home.
When Karen was three years old, she became an older sister for the first time to her little brother Jacob. Their rivalry began early on with him starting it off by drooling and snotting all over her favorite toys and her tipping him over when he was learning how to walk. Luckily, there wasn't too much scolding going on as their parents thought it was kind of funny as no real harm was done. A couple of time outs here and there when both of them were old enough to know better and repeat events happened, but nothing serious. There was a balance of power between the siblings. That was... up until Megan was born.
Finding herself with a baby sister at the age of seven, Karen felt like her position of affection was threatened and upon seeing how much attention Megan was getting, immediately told her parents to "take it back". In fact, it was the only time her brother and her ever agreed on anything, though she was louder and bolder with her protests. She had even gone as far as writing a serious note about running away from home. In crayon. With a PS on the bottom stating she came back because it was "spagetti" night. It was actually while her parents were laughing about and discussing that event with her grandfather that he suggest that they let him take her and her brother for the summer so they avoid a child-wide riot from forming. Playfully of course.
It was during that summer that Karen discovered two things that would matter greatly in her life. One, that she was the favorite of the grandchildren. Two, her love of antiques. Her grandfather owned an antique shop and though her brother was either too young or too interested in TV, she herself clicked with it instantly. After that summer, she looked forward to each and every visit to her grandfather's home and shop. It was to the point where she even lessened her protests about Megan until it turned into a toleration and then eventually to where she actually began to like having a little sister. Sure, it took until Megan was about three years old, but better late than never. Though, she never did get around to liking Jacob but they had a silent agreement to disagree on anything and everything possible. The fact that Megan began to do the same as she got older, taking Karen's side just made their bond grow more.
Karen got her first part time job when she was fourteen, her grandfather having hired her to work at his antique shop. She found it to be more of a pleasure than a business even when her grandfather taught her the importance of keeping keeping a certain kind of demeanor when in the shop and when on business. Though he had already given her tips and taught her the ropes over the different summers, he became more serious about teaching her the business and telling her, what she had thought at the time was jokingly, that she should pay attention as she would be owning the business one day when he was gone.
Her power manifested when she was fifteen. One moment, Karen was in her room and thinking about how much she would rather be at the antique shop with her grandfather, and in the next instant, she was there. Fifteen blocks away, which was more or less a mile from her home. The most surprising part wasn't the fact that she had instantaneously appeared there, but the fact that her grandfather took it so casually. That was, until he revealed that he was a Meta too once she had finished freaking out and calmed down. At first, he was reluctant to tell her about what his power was, but he did end up telling her and when she found out, she was laughing too hard to be freaking out much anymore. After all, it was kind of hard to stay upset after finding out your grandfather craps out quarters as a super power. Though, she did become upset again when she found out that she wouldn't be able to spend as much time with him anymore as she would be needing to be going to some place called Hammel Institute. Apparently, that had been what had happened with one of her mother's younger cousins when he had found out he was a Meta.
Surely enough, Karen ended up as a resident of Hammel Institute a few days later. She was a broody little thing at first, being angry that she had to be there and feeling like it was unfair that she had to stay at some school for freaks. But, as her powers came in further and the side effects made themselves more and more known, she began to understand that there was logic behind the madness of pooling all those super powered teens in one place. As the short term memory loss became a big issue, she was given a diary to carry around and to look at when she found herself drawing a blank. Of course, as technology got better, she ended up upgrading to a digital version. Of course, when it turned out that her brother was a meta too, she kind of wished it was long term memory that got scrambled as she did her best to try to act like she didn't even know him. Apparently, the little dork was a meta that could mimic the powers of other meta he came into contact with for a short amount of time. Luckily for her, he found other people to pester after the first few months of his being there.
The Institute was her home and school for longer than the average, which her brother of course lorded over her due to his being able to graduate before she did despite being three years younger than herself. But, she managed not to get overly stressed out about it due to it being because of the side effects of her power causing her to need further training and aid rather than it being from a lack of academic drive or something like that. The fact that her grandfather and parents seemed to understand this helped her through it as well. After graduating from Hammel at the age of twenty two, Karen found that her passion for the whole antique shop experience was still there and that combined with wanting to make her grandfather proud, brought her to pursue education in art and antiques. It took her a while but she managed to get herself a certificate in appraisal studies in art and antiques. Not only was her grandfather proud but her parents as well and the three of them pitched in for a gift for her. She wouldn't be working for her grandfather at his shop anymore, but rather having one of her own in Pilot Ridge "King & Queen Antiquities". She has been the proud owner of it since.
