The BasicsName: Christine Adriana Rossi
Nicknames: Chris
Age: 24 (April 24, 1990)
Orientation: Pansexual
Desired Rank/Job: Local
Powers: Precognition - the ability to see the future.
The mechanics of this ability are pretty straightforward. Chris is able to see future events, either in dreams or in waking visions. Though she has graduated Hammel and has full control of her ability, the very nature of precognition makes it a bit unpredictable. Sometimes dreams are a combination of symbols that have to be interpreted as an event and other times it is more akin to watching a scene from a movie. Other times it's like watching a clip reel, flashes of scenes smashed together. It is often difficult to interpret when something will happen, though she can often nudge a vision into showing her a clock or calender if she needs that information.
Chris can look into the future at will. When she does this, her visions are much more precise. She may not always see what she hoped to, but whatever she sees will be a complete detailed vision. This is a rather draining process though that requires a great deal of concentration. To an observer it would appear almost as though she was in a meditative trance.
However, despite having full control of her power, spontaneous dreams and visions can still occur. Typically these will only happen for significant events that directly affect either Chris or those most important to her. If she is overly exhausted, sometimes random dreams of the future will come to her in her dreams as well, although this is quite rare.
Side effects include migraines, fatigue, and occasional bouts of anxiety and insomnia. Also a tendency to 'space out' randomly when having a vision which can result in careless accidents.

General Appearance: The first thing that comes to mind when looking at Chris would be strength. She has an oval face with high cheekbones and a wider nose. Her eyes are brown, though they tend towards a lighter shade. Her eyebrows are a bit on the thicker side and she seldom wears makeup. When she does it is usually very simple and natural - lip balm, mascara, and perhaps some light eyeliner. She has very warm toned skin which is on the darker side of tan and is only accentuated when she spends time in the sun, tanning an even deeper shade.
Her hair is naturally a darker ashy brown, but in recent years she has taken to lightening it to a more caramel shade. Of course, she tends to not maintain the color very well which often results in it growing out a bit so the ends are lighter than her roots. She keeps it cut at a just above shoulder length bob and usually doesn't allow it to grow much longer than that.
At 5'3" Chris stands on the shorter side, but she has an athletic build and is more muscle than not. She does have rather nice womanly curves, though they are all too often hidden beneath unfitted unisex clothing that does little to flatter a feminine shape.
Her tomboyish nature is very obvious in the way she dresses. She mostly wears a combination of graphic tees, hoodies, and jeans. Her wardrobe also includes sweat pants, tank tops, sportswear. When she dresses up she wears simple solid colored shirts. She also does have a few plaid button ups that she quite loves, especially during fall and winter. As far as shoes go, she typically wears either sneakers or boots.
Personality: Chris has always been a bit of a tomboy. This was even more evident when she was a child, but even as a teenager, she was always one of the guys - even seen in her name. She was always very comfortable with this. The frilly things that were associated with girls never appealed to her, and as such it was little surprise that it wasn't until her twenties that she began to balance being a woman with her boyish tendencies.
She has always been tough. She can take a punch - and dish one out - and snarky remarks roll right off her. While others haven't always viewed her with the most pleasant of attitudes, her self-confidence has never wavered. She is who she is, and she's always been comfortable with that, even when others were not.
However, people tend to associate her natural strength as invulnerability, which is entirely misleading. Chris believes in seeing the best in others and goes to such lengths to do so that it makes her an easy target. She not only believes in second chances, but in unnumbered chances. She always tries to see both sides of a story, making excuses for other's failures as she does. As such, it is little surprise that people tend to take advantage of her.
Once one looks beyond her tough exterior, she is most easily defined by her kindness. She wants to help others and goes to great lengths to do so. She recognizes that in many ways she is privileged and so she tries to use those opportunities to help others, whether it is lending money to a friend in a tough position or volunteering her time to help the less fortunate.
Chris believes in actions more than words, and she tries to live her life in such a manner. However, this is something she struggles with a bit. It may not seem obvious initially since she manages well on the day to day, but when it comes to the bigger picture of her future, she feels a bit directionless in her life. She doesn't know what sort of career she wants. She hasn't pursued education. She just works menial jobs to get by and helps out where she can. She tries not to dwell on it, but she can't shake the feeling that she should be doing something more.
Many would peg Chris as an extrovert given her sunny demeanor and friendliness. However, in truth she is really more of an introvert, often choosing to stay in rather than go out. She enjoys socializing, but she doesn't seek it out often, but for spending time with the select individuals who are important to her.
Chris also has a very strong protective streak and is quite nurturing. This is partially because she tends to focus on others in order to avoid how rather empty of purpose her life is. This can also backfire because it allows her to be quite the enabler, which isn't always a good thing. It's for this reason combined with the nature of her ability that she shoulders a lot of guilt for the actions and choices of others.Your VicesLikes: sports, action movies, food, the color green

Daphne Rossi had never been a particularly warm woman. She had married Evan after they graduated from college and just before she started medical school. Timing was everything, and Daphne had a promising career ahead of her. She had their son, Jordan, in the summer before she began her residency. Evan was the one who wanted children, so he was happy to care for the baby while she began to work.
The couple lived happily for many years. Evan and his mother cared for young Jordan while Daphne focused almost exclusively on her career. It was an unusual dynamic, but it worked for them. Then the unexpected happened.
Daphne became pregnant once more.
While Evan was delighted to learn that he would have another child, Daphne was furious. Her career was just taking off - finally. After all the work and time she had put in... the time it took to have a child would delay that, and losing momentum could prove disastrous. This pregnancy was not an easy one, and it was with relief almost that she gave birth to her daughter.
Christine Adriana Rossi she was named, after both her grandmothers. Her father and brother doted on her from the day she came home and never stopped. Meanwhile, her mother turned to her career with a vengeance, overcompensating to make up for the time she had missed during her pregnancy.
There is always a question of nature vs nuture, and her father has often wondered if the tomboy nature that emerged in his daughter was a result of the influence of him and her brother or if it was simply who she was meant to be. Yet somehow Chris always suited her far more than Christine ever had.
Of course, there was one other strong influence in her life. Winter Rowley. The two had been introduced when they were a mere few months old - little surprise given that he was only 3 months baby Chris's elder. The Rowley's lived across the street from the Rossi's which made play dates easy to arrange, and led to them being quite frequent.
As they grew up, it became clear that though they were opposite in many ways, these two would be close friends for life. Chris accepted his pink glasses without a second thought as he did her fascination with sports. Perhaps as infants they had had little say in spending time together, but once they were old enough to choose, they still found themselves constantly across the street, getting into mischief together.
One thing that came with age though was the beginning of school. Thankfully the two friends were in the same class, which made the process easier. They both enjoyed learning - their fellow classmates however, were another matter entirely. They both were teased a good bit. Chris was already learning that people would find her to be too boyish for a girl. She responded by fighting right back, either with her words or more often her fists. In much the same manner, she became Winter's defender. While their classmates quickly learned to leave her alone, they were not so kind to her best friend.
It was during this time period that Winter's father decided to thrust his son into sports. Chris always joined with him, and it turned out (though it was hardly a surprise) that she was quite naturally athletic. Yet despite her own interest in sports, she always left a team when Winter did, determined that whatever they did, they would do it together. After all, she only cared about having fun, not winning.
There friendship was always like this. Her protecting him. Likewise though, he pushed her to work harder in school. She was rather smart, though not nearly as much so as Winter was. But she always tried, and in time she was almost about to keep up with him. It was never as effortless for her as it was for him, but that only pushed her harder.
When Chris was 7, her parents divorced. Honestly, it wasn't that big of a change for the child. Her mother had always been a workaholic. The few months before she moved out were tenser than normal - when she was actually home that was - but aside from that, little changed. The children were left to the father's custody - uncontested - and life went on.
Things changed again when Chris was 10. Her father met Jenny who by the end of the year, became Chris and Jordan's step mother. 12 was an even bigger year for the family. Jordan went off to college and baby Melissa was born. Things were changing so fast and Chris couldn't help but feel like she didn't belong in her home anymore. Jenny was nice to her and a good mom - which was an odd change for someone whose mother had always been so distant and unmaternal - but she didn't understand Chris the way her father did. They simply didn't have much of anything in common so bonding was superficial at best really.
On the bright side though, escape seemed imminent. After all, her whole family was meta-human, and she knew that with puberty, came her power, and then would come Hammel. She could hardly wait to manifest. Unfortunately, Winter's manifestation came first, which meant that he left for Hammel and for the first time in her life, she felt truly alone. He still lived at home, so its not like she never got to see him, but it was quite the change for a pair that was nearly inseparable. She turned 13 just after, and the next months seemed to pass almost painfully slow.
Finally, in June, her power began to manifest. It came to her in a dream. It was a strange dream really, more like a collection of images even. She saw everyone sitting at the breakfast table, spilled milk, a newspaper with an article about some big lawsuit in bold, a clock that read 10:17, her brother and suitcases.
When she woke up, she was surprised to enter the kitchen and find her stepmother cleaning up spilled milk and her father reading that very same newspaper. Confused, she glanced at the clock which read 10:16. "Jordan will be home from college in a minute."
Her dad laughed. "He's not coming home until the 15th, Chris. You know that."
Chris however stayed silent, staring at the clock, watching as it changed to 10:17. Sure enough, there came a knock at the door, followed by her brother's voice yelling "Anyone home? I need help with my bags!" She ran to the door and everyone greeted him even as he explained that he had finished his finals early and thought to surprise everyone.
Once the initial excitement died down though, everyone's focus shifted to her. She had manifested at last! The family celebrated that day and the next, a recruiter came from Hammel to take her to the school.
Nothing could have made Chris any happier.
She continued to live at home, but starting Hammel was exciting nonetheless. It was a whole new group of people after all. Though Chris had grown up in a meta-human home, she still found it exciting - after all everyone's powers were different right? Which meant there had to be some pretty awesome ones to discover. After all, her dad had told her once about some kid in his class who could actually stop time - how epic would that be? Still, she was pretty happy with her own power.
It was a new start. That was what was most exciting.
Of course, it seemed Winter had found that idea exciting for another reason entirely. After her tour of the school, she had run to meet him before classes, only to be surprised when another kid greeted him as Rowley. Apparently he had decided he wasn't going to get picked on anymore and totally reinvented himself. She played along, though she teased him mercilessly when they were alone. But really all that mattered was that the best friends were together again.
School was quite the experience for Chris. She got involved in sports more, started to work harder on schoolwork. Still, that didn't stop her from getting into trouble with Winter too. Honestly, she was a little worried about him. He was falling in with a not so great crowd, skipping classes even. The sad part was even that when he didn't go to class, he still tended to understand the material well enough to correct her homework as he copied it.
Over the years, Chris made her own friends too - mostly the jocks she played sports with. She was always one of the guys though, something that, as she became older, began to bother her. Just once she wanted one of them to notice her as a girl.
One day she got lucky though. Jeff, one of the guys on the basketball team, bumped into her at a spring break party she had gone with Winter to. He was hanging out with Grayson while she wandered, saying hi to people and looking for a drink. Instead, Jeff spilled his drink on her, which had a rather visual effect on her white shirt. It seemed that he had definitely noticed she was a girl.
Chris didn't think much of it initially, just putting on her denim jacket in place of her now soaked shirt. However, Jeff quickly found her again, asking her to dance, and later kissing her. The nearly sixteen year old girl was ecstatic and soon the two were a couple. Chris was surprised at how fast she fell for him, and at how quick the relationship progressed.
It seemed that relationship wasn't meant to be though. After a particularly heated house party in September, Jeff was suddenly always busy. It wasn't until Halloween though that she found out just what he had been busy with - Cindy Baxter, the newest cheerleader.
Chris was crushed, and after that, she kept more to herself, spending most her free time either alone or with Winter. Basketball practice was awkward, but in time she got over it, even if she had become quite the skeptic when it came to relationships.
That January though, Winter started dating Gray. Which meant leaving them alone more, and keeping her skepticism to herself mostly. After all, she wanted to like Winter's boyfriend - she always wanted to support her best friend. But Gray was a delinquent in the truest sense, and a jerk at that. Still, she bit her tongue and spent a good deal of time with the two regardless.
It was during this point that Chris made an unlikely friend. She was partnered with Hope Turner for a project in history. Hope was most easily described as bohemian - very liberal and very free-spirited. Somehow, despite all the ways they were very much opposites, the girls managed to bond as they worked on their project. Chris liked making her smile - Hope had the most beautiful smile she thought.
She always thought that it should have been more obvious to her then, but somehow it wasn't until the night that Hope kissed her while they were watching a movie together that Chris began to realize what she had been feeling was attraction. Being with Hope made her feel giddy, and at first she was too delighted by this turn of events to consider the reprocussions. She can't really remember what movie they were watching that night, or what the plot was, or how long the DVD menu played on repeat. She just knew that kissing Hope made her feel good.
Of course, once Hope left to return to the dorms, a slow panic began to wash over Chris. What did this mean? Was she a lesbian? What would her father think about her dating a girl? Were they even dating?
Those answers were slow to come.
After what had happened with Jeff, it was little surprise that Chris was a bit afraid to just ask Hope what they were now. What if it wasn't what she wanted to hear? But worst of all, what if she didn't ask and it ended up just like Jeff all over again? Still, in the end her nerves won out, and she just focused on enjoying their time together.
It had been about two weeks and a lot of kissing later that it happened. Chris asked her if she wanted to come over on Friday night to watch a movie and Hope replied that she couldn't she had a date. Chris was stunned to say the least, especially at the way she had said it - like she was just talking about the weather or class. It was only when Chris didn't respond that Hope seemed to notice that something was wrong. She explained then that she didn't believe in monogamy. They were too young to really commit to any one person. When Hope asked if that bothered her, Chris answered the only way she could.
"Oh, of course not. That makes a lot of sense."
Which was totally not what she had planned to say. But she enjoyed spending time with Hope, enough that all her sense had gone right out the window.
As for the rest, with some research, Chris came to the conclusion that she was pansexual rather than bisexual. She didn't come out initially either. After all, Hope wanted to keep things casual, so it's not like her family really needed to know yet, right? Mostly she was just afraid of people looking at her differently.
The summer went by all too quickly and soon senior year was starting. Classes were hard, but Chris worked hard, as always. Her training was going well and she was all set to graduate on time.
But of course, nothing could be that easy.
With this time came all the pressure. What was she going to do with her life? Where was she going to go to college? What was she going to major in? All questions that she had no answer to.
Her mother - who had been little more than an occasional phone call and a check in the mail these past years - suddenly emerged from the woodwork. If anything, she was the loudest of the voices demanding answers from Chris. It shouldn't have come as a surprise, given her mother's intense career focus. Yet her mother had always been so content to be uninvolved in her life until now... it was unsettling and frustrating.
In the end, Chris decided she wasn't going to college. She didn't know what she wanted to do with her life, and she wasn't about to waste the money that tuition would cost. Her mother naturally was furious, insisting that she attend, even if it took her a year or two to determine what she wanted to major in. Chris however stood her ground - she didn't care that her mother could afford the tuition, she wasn't willing to go there aimlessly.
So of course, her mother cut her off, but the money - while nice - had never been that important to Chris. She liked simplicity.
Aside from that drama, the year went by rather easily. Winter was busy a lot with Grayson, but they always found time for each other too. Her relationship - if one could call it that - with Hope was a bit tumultuous. She enjoyed the time they spent together, always. That was never the issue. It was the time spent apart...
That was when she began to doubt her choices, to question if she was really happy this way. She was free to see other people as well, she knew that, but part of her was always - would always - be holding out in the hopes that she might someday want more. That Hope might choose her. She wanted that, she really did. So she found herself waiting for something that might never happen. Even when it made her feel miserable rather than happy.
Chris graduated in May, and for a time, she continued to live at home, focusing on finding work. She bounced around a couple of jobs, but always worked consistently, doing everything from retail to waitressing and secretarial work. It was rather dull, but by the time she was 19, she had saved enough to afford her own place. Truthfully, though she loved her family, who insisted she was welcome to live there as long as she liked, she didn't feel like she belonged there anymore. Her father had a new family now. It wasn't that she felt replaced necessarily... she knew that he still loved her as much as he always had, but it was Melissa and Jared who needed his attention most now. They got along well enough, but her half-siblings were so much younger than her, it wasn't shocking that they didn't exactly have a lot of interests in common. So she was determined to try being on her own. Her family would always be close and dear to her... but it was time to find some independence.
Of course, her first apartment was a tiny hole in the wall sort of place, but it was big enough for what she needed. About 6 months later, she began receiving a monthly deposit from her mother though. She never knew for sure, but she was fairly certain her brother was the one who had managed to convince her mother that her not going to school wasn't the end of the world.
That next year, she did use her mom's money to get an apartment in a better neighborhood, and soon after she got a full time job in customer service. It seemed she had a very rare talent of remaining composed when being yelled at by irate customers which served her well. Finally she was making decent money and she started saving more and more of her mother's money and being more self-sufficent.
The one exception to this was her best friend. Winter was struggling, and she was worried about him. She had never been particularly concerned over the recreational drug use before. The smoking was hardly consequential and the pills, well he said those were to manage the pain of shifting. It made sense, and had never concerned her before. Suddenly though, his parents were sending him to some outpatient rehab program, and she began to wonder if she had been blind all this time.
Still, she did all she could to be a supportive friend, especially since his relationship with his parents was now more difficult than ever. Besides, Chris didn't have much going on outside of work.
She and Hope had been hooking up for about 3 years now, on and off, but Chris was hearing from her less and less until finally the calls just stopped. She was a bit depressed of course, but she had seen it coming. After all, Chris was far less interesting than the art and drama majors that Hope had taken to spending her time with lately.
So she accepted that it was finally over and after about a year, she finally ended up on a date. The guy's name was Ted, and he was actually a pretty decent guy. They dated for a couple of months before it happened.
Hope called again.
Chris was genuinely interested in Ted, but there was something about Hope... she had never been able to say no to her. So she met up with her. Hope told her all about her adventures... and that she had missed Chris. That she wanted them to be together. She finally felt ready to try.
Of course, Chris was over the moon. It was what she had always been waiting for, and finally, it was here.
She didn't want to hurt Ted but... she had to give this a try. So she broke up with him, and her and Hope began a new page as an official couple.
Which of course also meant telling people at last that she identified as pansexual. Her father took it in stride, saying that he was good with whatever - and whoever - made her happy. Jenny seemed a bit confused and uncomfortable with the whole thing, but she too claimed to be supportive. Her mother on the other hand... well, she dismissed it as though Chris had said she wanted to be a circus clown or something equally ridiculous. But she didn't dwell on that very long. She was used to disappointing her mother at this point.
As for her friends, most were pretty accepting, though a few of the jock guys she hung with made stupid comments about how it was no surprise she was a lesbian since she acted like one anyone. She had been hearing stupid comments like that for years though, that because she was athletic she had to be butch... so it didn't bother her much. Besides, those guys were only good for a pickup game anyway. It felt good to not be hiding anymore though.
Of course, people didn't really change that easily. Hope cheated, a lot. Even after committing, she was always flirting and she didn't understand why that hurt Chris. But Chris always forgave her. Even when it hurt, she always ended up forgiving her. This went on for another two years before they finally broke up.
A break up which only lasted a month.
Then they were back together again until Chris came over to Hope's apartment only to find her in a rather compromising position with her supposedly platonic roommate. Furious, Chris decided that she was done. She was done being hurt. She loved Hope and she did believe Hope loved her in some fashion or another, but she couldn't keep allowing herself to be hurt like this. So she left Hope her key, and she walked away.
During these years, Winter continued to struggle with his situation, both trying to be independent and trying to manage his drug problem. Chris did all she could to support him, and he often ended up crashing on her couch in his periods of desperation when he tried to get clean and had nowhere else to go. She loved him like a brother, but it pained her to see him going through this. Still, she tried to support him, knowing that was what he needed most, even if at times she felt at a loss to truly help him.
Then came the morning on May 4th, 2014. That was a date, she could never forget.
It was her day off, and she had taken the opportunity to sleep in - a rare treat for the hardworking girl. Until about 11:50 whenever she had the most terrifying dream she had ever experienced. She saw Winter, cutting up some sort of patch into strips before applying them. Then she saw him fall to the floor.
She woke up in a panic, knowing something was wrong. She scanned the future, enough to find a time, 12:25 and then hastily grabbed her keys and ran to the car, not caring that she was still in her pajamas. She had to get to him. Now.
It was only when she got her car started that she realized she had no idea where he was. He had been staying with her until a few days ago when he had taken some money and disappeared. She didn't have a clue where he had went after that. So she ran back up to her apartment and grabbed her phone, staring at the clock as she dialed his number again and again. No answer. She tried to search the future for some sign, but she couldn't find where he was at - her concentration was too shaky.
How could it not be? Her best friend could be dying somewhere.
Finally, a vision hit her - she saw an ambulance unloading in front of the hospital. That at least told her where he would be, which was better than nothing. So she raced there. The nurses there had no idea who she was asking to see at first, but about ten minutes later, one came over to her with a dazed look on her face as she said a Winter Rowley had just been admitted.
Waiting to be allowed to see him took what seemed to be forever, but knowing he had survived... it was enough. Worried as she was, that was enough.
Chris spent a lot of time with him after that. She visited him frequently - first in the hospital, then in the rehab center and then in time at the halfway house. She was the one to greet him when he was released and to help him move into the apartment that he had found. When not at work, she's spent most her time with him, helping in all the little ways that she can. Giving him gift cards for food and gas and whatever else she thought he might need. Helping him pass the time at his job at the convenience store. Whatever she can do to be a better friend to him.
Truth be told, she blames herself for what happened, feeling that she should have been paying more attention to the future. She should have known sooner what would happen. She should have found a way to prevent it. Sometimes she can be a hint overprotective, but she tries to keep it in check, for his sake.
The bright side has been that taking care of Winter has been an excellent distraction for avoiding the fact that her own life is particularly bleak looking as well as the fact that truth be told, she still misses Hope, despite all the misery that relationship had brought her.
For now, she's content with her life, and that is enough.Roleplay ExampleSee Alanna Darlington, Zoelle Heroux, Talia Spencer, Sydney Emerson, Avery FieldsWhat About You?Name: Faraday
