"So this is what passes as a library in America?" Rune spoke softly to himself as he strolled around the stacks. Normally he wouldn't be in a library, but since his grades were slipping a bit too much, he decided it might be time to at least attempt to study. Though, some of the books were distracting him for sure. Books about dancing, technique and lots of volumes on music. Of course he also had his headphones on, but the bright haired boy wasn't being rude about it. The music was turned down, but still loud enough to hear it if you got close. Close meaning, right next to him.

As he made himself a decent pile of books in his arms, he started to move a little to the music thumping in his ears. The books did include some that were actually for schoolwork, but were mostly dance books. Walking towards the reading tables, Rune bumped into a person or two, instantly apologizing as he did. After a final nudge of someone, he dropped his books -rather loudly- on the table. Even with headphones on he cringed and glanced around while mouthing "Sorry." With and inadvertently loud squeak of his chair, he set down and started to read.

All the while his foot tapped and he drummed his fingers on the table. Even when he actually had a pencil and paper, he still tapped out a beat while he was writing. Totally oblivious to anyone nearby.

The sight of Sydney Emerson in a library was fairly commonplace. Her roommates didn't share her same appreciation for things like quiet and order. So she found it easier to get her work done in a more appropriate environment that was free of such unnecessary distractions.

So it was little surprise that today, as usual, Sydney was occupying one of the tables in the library, quietly working on her history reading.

At least she had been until she noticed a fluorescent-haired boy walking nearby. He had headphones on, but she could still hear the faint sound of music. Then he took a seat - at the table right beside hers. She frowned and glanced up at the rather loud thud of books on the table, even as he cringed at the sound and mouthed an apology. She turned her gaze back to his book, only to huff in frustration as his chair squeaked loudly. Could he be any louder?

Apparently the answer was yes because then as he read he seemed intent on trying to disturb everyone else around him. His foot was tapping and his fingers drummed out some incessant beat on the table. She tried to shut the noise out, but there was no hope for that. It was too damn relentless.

Finally she shot him a glare, but he was too consumed in his books to notice. Normally she would find such a trait admirable, but today it was merely annoying. "Excuse me," she whispered - more like hissed - at him,but with his headphones on he couldn't seem to hear her. "Excuse me," she repeated slightly louder, about at a normal speaking volume, though her irritation was surely in her tone.

Sydney couldn't take it anymore. She pushed back her own chair - quietly at that - so that she could stand. She moved forward and to the side so she was standing next to him - looming over him more like - and tapped his shoulder with two fingers twice to get his attention. She waited for him to remove his headphones before speaking. Her voice was tense and she was not happy with the situation. "Do you mind? You are making it impossible to concentrate."

The current book he was engulfed in was rather interesting, even if it was one he needed to study with. Science was kind of interesting after all, lots of squishy and weird things to look at. Plus, science gave him the tiny things projecting the glorious music into his ears. It was really a mixture of both things that kept him from hearing anything, or anyone. Rune was honestly not a rude person, he just tended to forget his manners from time to time. So, when the second "idea" of a voice speaking to him rang in his brain, he did glance up, just...not around him.

It wasn't until he felt a -very foreboding- presence over him that he turned his music off and looked up. "Hello Dearie." He gave her a soft smile with a very quiet greeting. He'd heard what she said, and honestly felt bad, but did she have to be so, so...aggressive. Or did she? Rune did have the knack of assuming people were all generally the same and occasionally needed to be reminded that everyone had different needs. "Sorry about the noise love, I'll try to keep it down. Promise." With that he winked at her and turned his attention back to his books and instantly knocked one to the floor. Of course he had to, right when he made a promise to keep the noise down. He picked it up quickly and gave the girl a sheepish look, which was meant to be an apology. Then he attempted the books again.

He was moving from Science to Math and he groaned. Rune hated math, it was so utterly boring. There was nothing remotely interesting about it. Then he thought quickly about his groan, and luckily it had been internal and not one the feisty girl could have heard. Still, he turned his attention back to her. "Hey, um...you seem like the knowledgable type. Mind helping a bloke out with some stupid math problems?" This time he gave her his most winning smile that he could muster. "I swear on The Doctor's life I won't make a sound." Rune thought this would be a good faith measure, if the obviously American girl even got the reference.
