Today was going to be a hectic day, so as Chris went about fixing breakfast, she went a little overboard. Bacon, sasauge, hashbrowns, eggs, toast - she had it all. Mostly because she knew that if she didn't fix a good meal, then Winter probably would never eat one. Plus today, they'd both need plenty of energy.
Her apartment had been overtaken by boxes it seemed because they were just about everywhere. Not that she really minded the clutter that much. It was all a part of moving.
Honestly, Chris was a bit surprised that it had taken so many years for her and Winter to become official roommates. Sure, he had crashed on her couch before, but it wasn't the same as actually sharing the space and the bills and all that. Not that she was planning to accept money from him for the bills, but that was a technicality.
The more she thought about it, the more she was certain that it was about time.
It had all been a rather spur of the moment decision really. About a week ago, it had been a fairly normal morning. Winter had been here late the night before and decided to just spend the night, so he was just waking up on the couch and flipping through channels on TV while she went about cooking them breakfast. As she served up his soft-boiled eggs, looking over the counter at her rather permanent guest, she came to a decision.
"Winter, you're moving in."
Of course, he had protested, saying that was hardly necessary, but when she pointed out that he pretty much already lived there anyway, he couldn't really argue, especially considering his current rent took up almost his entire paycheck. Not to mention that Chris wasn't exactly taking no for an answer. Point being eventually he came around to her logic and agreed so that was that.
It was better this way really. Less going back and forth for them both for starters. But also because it was easier for her to keep an eye on him this way. She couldn't help but worry about her best friend. He would be content eating nothing but nutritionless prepackaged food and wasting away to nothing for one.
Which brought her focus back to the breakfast she was cooking. Winter preferred soft boiled eggs which required precision, otherwise they'd end up overcooked. So for the moment, she concentrated on that instead of wondering what on earth was taking Winter so long. His room was still empty at this point and he had been in there for awhile now... Chris shook her head. Nope. She wasn't going to even ask.
At least not yet.
