General Appearance: Nica is not particularly tall or short, standing at 5'4. She's slender, but not frail. Her light brown, sometimes dark brown, hair falls to her chest in its naturally wavy state. Nica enjoys straightening her hair, a habit she picked up watching her older sister or throwing her hair up into a bun if she's feeling lazy that day. Her green eyes are usually rimmed black with a tasteful amount of mascara and eyeliner and well defined eyebrows. She use to pile on the makeup, but has cut down on her use significantly. If the occasion calls for it, she'll wear lipstick, usually in a red hue. Nica is naturally pale, and won't tan, even if she tries.

Nica use to care a lot about her image and how she projected herself to people. Her clothes use to reflect that; wearing only what was in style and trendy. Nowadays, she wears whatever she feels like and her sporadic wardrobe has pieces from nearly every genre of style. She likes comfy clothes like pullover sweaters and loose t-shirts paired with leggings or shorts. She usually sticks to clothes in neutral and darker hues. Nica loves accessorizing and will always be seen with a few bracelets on her wrist, a necklace and and a scarf of some kind during the winter.
Personality: Nica is relatively calm; it's hard to make someone angry when they're indifferent towards most subjects. It's difficult to get a reaction out of her, because she doesn't have a temper. She just doesn't care enough to make a big deal out of things. Once highstrung and hard to deal with, Nica has settled down with time and is more easygoing and relaxed. She's at the age where she no longer cares about fitting into a certain mold and impressing the 'popular' kids.

The one thing she can't do is make decisions. She's indecisive; one day she'll want to write a bestselling novel but by the next day, the idea has been discarded. She tries out different hobbies on a weekly basis, never getting too involved with anything. The same goes for people. Nica could love you one day but not want to ever see your face again a week later. Due to this, it's difficult to predict or pinpoint her next move. She's opinionated, but will keep them to herself, mostly because her opinions are constantly changing depending on her mood. When something or someone interests her, Nica is dedicated, to the point of obsession, until something new catches her eye. 

She has an incredibly dry sense of humour. Sarcasm is her preferred form, and Nica has gotten quite good at deadpanning both her voice and face. Her expression can usually be found in a neutral state, unless around Lucy. Then she'll smile and revert to her loving younger sister role.

Strengths: Nica is easygoing by nature and easy to get along with on the surface. Despite being a year behind in school, she's smart when effort is made. When devouted to someone/something, her dedication is astounding.
Weaknesses: Nica's biggest weakness is her inability to make a decision. She's constantly changing her mind. People think she's too serious, since her sarcasm tends to be lost on the majority. 
Fears: Losing her family, especially her sisters.
Secret: Although she tries hard to hide it, Nica wants to be like Lucy.

History

Nica was the second born to Luka and Ellis Serrano. She was born and raised in Queensland, Australia in a rural town where she spent most of her childhood tagging along with Lucy. As far back as she can remember, Nica was absolutely enamored with everything about Lucy. She was her rock; the best older sister anyone could ask for. Nica adored her from a young age, aspiring to be just like her and copying her every move.

As Lucy's personality and temperament changed, Nica watched her parents grow concerned over their eldest daughter. Always watching. Always a little distant. The younger Serrano would eavesdrop on conversations about Lucy and what they thought of the change. Fortunately for Nica, Lucy didn't treat her any different. They were able to maintain the close, sisterly bond they always had. Something she was grateful for.

At the age of twelve, a recruiter showed up to the Serrano household and told them news that would change their lives; Lucy had recently manifested an ability. She was understandably upset, but knew it was for the best. Lucy then went to Hammel in America and the physical wedge was driven into their relationship.

Nica felt a little lost without her older sister there guiding the way. She changed everything about herself, to fit in with the other girls in her grade. She constantly worried about what other students thought about her, hiding her true self behind a made up image that the world wanted to see. Her parents were happy that she was going out with new people. She had a vast circle of friends, but it came at a cost. Despite all of this, Nica was lonely.

Relief came in the form of an ability just after Nica's fifteenth birthday. She was bored in her room, staring at the clock to pass her time. She willed that time would just go faster and that wish was granted. The hands on the clock began to spin, and suddenly, an hour passed. Dinner was suddenly ready. Nica became confused and disorientated; it usually wouldn't be for another hour. It didn't take long for her to realize that the hands on the clock had moved forward. Confused, Nica tried again. This time, to move it back. With little to no control, she managed to move it back... two hours. An overwhelming sense of vertigo hit her, and she had to lay down until the feeling passed. Unlike her older sister, Nica couldn't keep quiet. That evening she told her parents what happened and two days later, a recruiter showed up. Since Lucy was well established at Hammel, everyone decided it would be best if Nica went there too. Secretly, she was relieved; she'd get to see her older sister everyday! 

Nica has been at Hammel for a little over two years now. Unfortunately, the change of countries meant that she was behind in school and would have to be held back a grade. She's a junior and is on track academically to graduate in one year's time. As for her power, she's had a harder time adjusting and controlling the ability, so it's likely she'll remain an extra year after graduation. All of this doesn't really phase her; she's just glad to be near her sister again.
