Sorting had been interesting for George. She had turned up at Hogwarts a muggleborn, completely startled by the idea that magic did actually exist and that, lo and behold, she could perform it herself! It was a miracle! It explained a lot, considering the number of crazy random things that had happened around her, but she has just accounted for those things as just her general weirdness and otherwise ignored them.
But anyway, sorting. The hat had taken a while to actually sort her into one of these four houses - according to the dusty thing, she was stuck between three, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor and Slytherin. She didn't really mind, and left the hat to its thinkings, which meant she sat there for about seven minutes while it deliberated. The hat narrowed it down to Ravenclaw and Slytherin, and finally decided - Ravenclaw. Which was awesome! This was all generally awesome. She hadn't really been paying attention after that, and gorged herself on food once it had been presented.
Now, however, it was the next day, and time for her first potions class. Despite being a distracted soul sometimes, Georgina had dived into researching this world the moment she discovered that she would be coming here, and knew more than she probably needed to, so her mind was racing with possibilities. So much so that she was getting distracted, definitely distracted, and turned up to the lesson late. The Potions master, Professor Snape, she had been told, had a stick up his ass 24/7, so this... probably wasn't a good move, but woops. He was apparently in the middle of a spiel when she opened the creaky door and skipped in without a word (but in a clear hurry). The bouncy girl slid into the only seat left available, one next to a Hufflepuff girl with firey hair.
A nasally voice rose from the front of the classroom once she was seated, "Miss Speer... I presume?" He queried, and George shuffled a little uncomfortably in her seat, "Yeah, sorry about the whole..." She waved her arms vaguely towards the door, then Snape, then herself, "...thing." She was only slightly intimidated.
Snape regarded her stoically for a couple seconds before raising an eyebrow, "Ten points... from Ravenclaw." He announced, much to her housemates annoyance, although George was only a little embarrassed by the escapade. She turned to the girl and whispered as Snape continued, "He'd be fun at parties," She quipped, "...what are we doing?"
