Travis slowly nodded. He could relate to wanting his mother happy. Well, maybe not the same way Glads did. He loved his momma but he wasn't close to her the same way Glads was. Angie had always seemed more the boys friend than anything else, and Glads was the first to admit it. It was an interesting relationship, one he sort of envied, but not really. Travis had brothers and a sister to bond with where as Glads only had his mother. His father, who happened to be Trav's uncle, wasn't really in the picture anymore, which he knew was for the best to the Thompson's. "I know." He agreed softly, sighing as Glads seemed to move in closer to him.
He laughed at Glads reaction, shaking his head, amused. Glads made it difficult not to adore him which his charm and Travis had to fight himself not to edge closer as the other boy was doing. It felt like old times all over again, only it was different now. They were older.. it wasn't the same as it had been. Even as Glads let his head slip back onto Trav's shoulder he could feel how different it all was despite the familiarity of the move.
Travis turned his head to the side, nuzzling his nose into Glads hair. Slowly he let his breath slip through his nostrils, feeling the warm air pool in the boys hair around his nose. Travis couldn't help but remember the last night they'd spent together, where he'd held Glads from behind, his nose nuzzled into the soft, golden curls. His heart almost hurt recalling it; he remembered what he'd done. He wasn't proud of it, but he was glad that Glads had been asleep through it all. If he'd been awake he wasn't sure what he would do. He never fully forgave himself for doing that to someone so young, so innocent who couldn't understand what was going on. They'd both been vulnerable, but he was old enough to know better, in love or not.
"Put-put don't count. You know I was plannin' on bringin' you out as soon as I could." he said quietly against Glads head, and it was true. Their tradition. The thing that was theirs and only theirs. "I've got a lot've birthdays tuh catch up on, so ya'll better start makin' a list." He insisted, humpr in his voice as he forced himself to turn away, dropping his arm around Glads shoulder instead of the curls at the back of his head. He needed to pull back before those strange thoughts started flooding up.
Neither of them needed to deal with that.
