Set Three Months After They've Gotta Be Mine

At the four month mark, Carter had learned that genders were able to be denoted from sonograms. He begrudgingly allowed Rya to schedule an appointment with a local doctor despite the way he protested that he'd much rather fly a more adequately certified individual in from another country. These were his children, after all, and as such he wanted to spare no expense when it came to their care. To her care.

In the end, he gave her what she wanted. His father informed him that that was the best way to get along with a pregnant woman. But he wasn't happy about it.

And with the news he was given? Who could blame him.

Stepping through the doorway into his dorm, Carter immediately withdrew his phone and lifted it to his ear. He wasn't interested in conversing over the topic at hand. This call was far too important.

"Father?" He asked, immediately, "Yes. We are flying Doctor Dupont in. At his earliest convenience." Pause. Carter quickly raised his hand the moment Rya found him; "Why? Because this idiot obviously didn't know how to read a fucking sonogram!"

About three weeks after she had told Carter, she had gone to confirm whether she was, as Carter had been entirely sure of, carrying twins. As it so happened, she was. Rya then was made aware of all the potential complications that a twin pregnancy could come up, whether it be from severe prematurity to her own personal health issues; added onto the list was extreme weight gain, which so far had been the hardest thing for her to come to grips with aside from the initial discovery of the pregnancy itself.

As the time progressed, her stomach grew, and with it her desire to return to her original size. The woman had always been active and never had she felt as uncomfortable stepping on the scale as she had then. There was an excuse, of course, as to why that was, but it did little to ease her mind.

Four months into the pregnancy, and she was finally made aware that the genders of the children could be found through another ultrasound appointment, and while Carter insisted to have a doctor flown in, and really, he was overly confident that they were boys, Rya was quite comfortable with her current doctor at home and was curious to know if his prediction was correct. As it so happened, and much to Carter's horror, it was not.

According to her doctor, his guarantee was actually false. The Chevalier family tree had a long standing line of twin boys, so for Carter to be told that he was having girls, well, she understood why it caused a severe case of disbelief. They returned to the dorms, and while she may have been curious what exactly what on his mind, she didn't ask. From the way his body language screamed negativity, she figured it'd be best for him to initiate the conversation, or simply vent first.

Returning to her own dorm to set some things down, Rya missed the initial start of the conversation he began with his father. Instead, she came in when his voiced was raised slightly, his words shots towards the doctor who told him what he did not want to hear. In response, though normally the dismissive raise of his hand usually frustrated her, the Hydrokinetic's lips curled into an amused smile. "And if Doctor Dupont says the same?"
