A little time outdoors

Why was Danni White out at the pond in the middle of the day? Well, there were a few reason. For one, it was the weekend so she had slept in until just about half an hour ago. Another, it was overcast today with off and on rain. And three, she had promised her mother a while back that she would get fresh air from time to time. Sure, she could have just opened up the window to let the breeze in, but it would have disrupted the order in her room. The little notes that were tacked up in a perfect line on the small cork board she had over her desk would have been made crooked by the stronger bursts of wind and that would have driven her absolutely crazy. Also, there was a chance that some little specks of random things might be blown in through the window. If that happened, she would have to clean the whole room to make sure that nothing was left sullied.

It might have seemed excessive, but her obsessive compulsive disorder demanded that she kept her room absolutely spotless. She literally had trouble going to sleep when she knew there was a chance that her area wasn't quite clean. And of course, she couldn't have that. No, sleep was one of her favorite things to do ever since her ability had developed. If it hadn't been for the fact she had woken up so short of a time ago, she might have tried catching a nap right now rather than taking a casual stroll around the pond.

Due to the off and on rain, Danni wore a couple of layers rather than just one. Well, up top anyways. Her affinity for pale clothing meant that it wouldn't exactly be appropriate to have gone with just one layer. She wore just enough to keep anything from showing through. Though, she wasn't letting herself get drenched either, sticking to the canopy of trees that were around the pond when the weather became damper. Right now, there was a little break in precipitation, so she took to finding a couple of flat pebbles to skip across the surface of the pond, counting each skip the pebbles made, being unable to keep from doing so.

Outfit: Pale pink string sleeve under a pale pink undershirt under a mid-thigh length white bat-wing shirt with pale pink feather wing pattern on the back. White jeans, white sneakers.

Rod had been taking a nap. A long, nice, sweet nap right in the middle of the day. He'd been waiting for Syd for far too long. Dammit. He really needed to get as many activities as she had so he wouldn't miss her so much during the day. How did she do it without passing out anyway? To be honest, Rod had been feeling rather neglected these past few days. It hadn't been long since he'd asked Syd to be his and had been super excited to start out their relationship, except he hadn't realised just how busy she would be all the time. He never saw her! It was always class, or training, or student council or tutoring or whatever the fuck she could come up next.

So here he was, wasting time again, waiting for her, on a long and thick tree branch, right by the lake. At least it was peaceful here. So peaceful... He sighed, his back against the tree trunk, breathing slowly, completely unaware of his surroundings. How many naps had he taken every day since he started dating Syd? It wasn't his fault! Lately, he felt like sleeping all day long..

Too bad he'd actually fallen asleep in that position though, because it wasn't long before his sleep got deeper and he moved, ever so slightly, to the side. That was enough for him to fall down. And fall he did, right on top of a bush. He woke up suddenly at the impact, so confused and looked around in panic.

"Ghost!" He yelped out as soon as he opened his eyes and saw an all white figure in front of him, wings and all. "GHOST!"

Three. Five. One and a half. Two. This wouldn't do, she was aiming for at least half a dozen. And the fact that she had gotten close to skipping the pebble that many times made her want to try for it even more. Maybe it was her mind hindering her? People did self sabotage sometimes in their dreams to make the dreams seem more like a reality. But that touched on a topic that she had been thinking a lot about lately. When was she awake, and when was she dreaming? She knew she slipped into other peoples dreams sometimes, people she had been around for a while or had spoken to for longer than just a quick greeting and farewell. And, she had noticed that her own dreaming had begun to be lacking... What if it hadn't been lacking after all? What if she was doing it right n--

Her thoughts were interrupted by a dull thud a little bit behind and to the side of her. It had startled her into turning around to face the source of the noise, her white lash framed pink eyes widened and her pale lips parting for a brief moment as she had the initial reflex to see if everything was alright. Come to find out, it was someone who she had glimpsed a few times but hadn't ever interacted with. She didn't know his name, or anything about him really. But right now, she was learning rather quickly that he was afraid of ghosts. Was she in his dream? No, it wasn't very likely. Like she had thought before, they hadn't interacted, she had just seen him from a distance here and there. But then again, people forgot things in ther dreams sometimes.

Either way, she had a choice to make. Either she could be a bit mischievous and play the part of a ghost of the pond, or she could be nice and assure him that he wasn't being haunted. Danni ended up biting her lip briefly before finally speaking up.

"Don't worry, I'm not really a ghost." She said, amusement in her tone.

She could see why he had mistaken her for one. The white on white on white was a bit of a stereotype of the phantom types after all.

Wait, not a ghost. Rod blinked in confusion. Where- where was he again? He winced as he stood from the bush, leaves falling from his hair as he shook his head and slapped the dust away. What a weird dream. Wait- no dream. Ghost still there. But it wasn't a real ghost. Rod blinked again at the- uh, girl? by his side. She was so... pale. Paler than the other people in Hammel. Seriously, this place was desperate for a tan. But this girl took the pale people prize easily.

"Ye- ah." He scratched the back of his head and a stray leaf fell from it, but it was ignored as he stared at the girl. "That's some fun power ye have." He commented as he stared at her, obviously thinking it was because of her power she looked that way. Maybe color control or something similar?

Well, he didn't seem to have hurt himself. But, people didn't tend to actually get hurt in dreams, did they? It was becoming a bit of an obsession, she realised. The whole dream thing. Or rather, the whole is it a dream isn't it a dream teeter totter that was going on in the back of her head and more increasingly often in the front of her mind too. But there was something she knew though; people didn't tend to actually get dirty often. Well, not that kind of dirty anyways.

His mentioning of her power made her wonder even more if this was another instance of dream-walking. Lightly, though firm enough to get the idea, she bit the corner of her lip. Just enough to make a pinch between her teeth. It stung. And she told herself that she wasn't just convincing herself that it was stinging.

"I'm not using my power right now." She told him, tilting her head a little to the side as she thought over what he might have been talking about.

Maybe it was tied into the ghost thing? The way he was staring was tipping her off to that soon enough and she smirked before righting her head again.

"Oh, I don't look like this because of any meta-human ability. I'm an albino. No melanin. I was born this way." She told him.

"It's pretty fun though, even if it isn't a power."

Not using her power? What the fuck was she talking about? Rod sighed, stretching his back and cracking his neck. Oof, that'd been a nasty fall. It was good that he hadn't fallen face first though. His injuries were already fading away, just a tiny hint of purple under his eye, so he didn't want to hide his face again. Plus Sydney would end up thinking he got in a fight again and scold him for it, so he rather save that anger for some time he truly deserved it.

Wait, she looked like that... normally. Rod stared at her with a tired look. Of course she did. Everyone in this fucking school were oh so much more special than he was. Stupid Hammel. Stupid powers he ended up with. Stupid job requirements. Well, maybe this was a bit more about that than it was about her.

"Albino?" He repeated, staring at her, "Like them bunnies?" Leave it to Rod to be so insensitive. She didn't seem to mind her appearance though, so why should he be any respectful of it? But she was here, right? So if this wasn't her power then- "So what's yer power, conejita?" He wondered with a half smile. What a weird girl.
