Zo felt sick to her stomach.
Things had been going so well, or at least that was what she had thought. Had she been wrong?
Luke and her always had fun together. She had been hesitant to trust him - truly trust him - but in the end she had done just that. She'd put aside her fears and they had become an official couple, more or less. That was really weird for her. After all, in that regard, he was her first. But she thought it had been going well.
At least until she had seen him earlier that day, cuddling out in the grass with some blonde. Shirtless no less.
Surely that had to mean something. Right?
There had to be an explanation. That's what she kept telling herself. That's why she had walked away rather than confronting him then. Because anger hadn't been her first reaction. Instead it was fear. She was afraid of losing him. He had convinced her that her worries that she couldn't be enough for him were wrong. That he wouldn't get sick of her. That he loved her.
That hadn't been a lie. It couldn't have been.
The worst part though, was that she felt the same. She did love him. Which made the idea that he might rather be with someone else - or that he had been with someone else - truly petrifying. He had all the power to hurt her. Still, she refused to believe that of him. Sure, they had started with him hitting on her for casual sex, but he had realized that was a mistake. So there was no way he'd do that again... Unless that meant that he cared more about this other girl than he did her...
No, it couldn't be that either.
Her mind wanted to go to the worst case scenario, but she hadn't given up hope yet. She was in way too deep to just give up that easily.
So she had showed up at his room to meet him. She'd just ask him about it. There had to be an explanation. So she'd give him a chance. She had to do at least that much. Besides, he wouldn't break his promise. He couldn't...
It was with these fears and doubts swirling through her mind that Zo walked across the hall from her dorm to his. He wasn't back yet it seemed - was he still with her? But one of his roommates let her in. They were used to seeing her by now. So she simply sat on his bed and waited, trying all the while to focus on the love she felt for him rather than the fear that her heart had been mislead.
