Maybe Takeout? (Odion)

Odion put a hand over his mouth, trying to stifle the laughter in his throat. "Come on. Kicking and screaming sure, but I still did it." The place had been special to Lani, it was really the only reason why Odion went at all, it certainly wasn't due to his love for burgers. "I doubt it," Odion said, inspecting his cuticles as though they were quite interesting, "I have all the time in the world." And if watching movies with Lani was how he wanted to spend it, well, no one was stopping him.
If Caroline hadn't helped Odion, the redhead wasn't sure how any of this would've turned out. Yes he felt guilty for asking her, but apparently he was missing Lani as much as Lani was missing him, no matter how dysfunctional things had become. It was the ideal situation, but it was the cards he had in his hand, and he was lucky to have any cards at all after completely losing his mind. He had to know what had happened that day and now that he did, he was thankful he chanced coming here. Was even more thankful that Lani hadn't sent him away packing, and was beyond words when Lani decided to give them another chance. Odion knew patience was the key here, so, just like he had all the time in the world for movies with Lani, he had all the time in the world to get to a better place than where they had been.
Odion snickered. "Apparently you're not going to forget a lot of things that were said today." And Odion had been equally warned of those things. Between watching movies and hoping Lani's next home cooked meal didn't burn to death, he was asking for a lot of things. Odion wasn't just sucking up, well, he was in part, but he was also being honest. Lani was right about a lot of things, but he was also wrong about a lot of things. It didn't hurt to state the obvious when it was in a good light, did it? "There's always a Plan B, as you say," Odion chimed in after Lani stated he was okay with takeout. At least it wouldn't be burnt - hopefully.
The redhead tore his eyes away from Lani quickly, regretting that he had been so flippant with his words. Odion wondered at what point would he be able to freely say things and not worry about hurting Lani's feelings. It wasn't that his feelings weren't important, but Odion didn't want to feel like he was walking on eggshells whenever he wanted to say something. It was for this reason that Odion normally remained quiet around others. He only said what he did because he thought it was something he and Lani shared. But the moment had passed and it was too late to apologize over something so trivial, so he let it go. "No," he said, giving a laugh, "disgrace would be taking a sip from the bottle and passing it around." He thought about it for a second and then added. "I think Jared does that just to get a rise out of me."
It was the way Lani had looked momentarily betrayed that helped Odion to decide to let the blond back in. Odion hadn't meant to be an ass, but sometimes it was second nature. He hadn't tried to spoil anything, but it seemed like that was what he was best at. Something had changed in the atmosphere and Odion hoped to change it back. Or at least, move on. The redhead stood stock still as Lani put his hands on his arms. There were too many emotions and thoughts flashing behind Lani's endless grey eyes that Odion wasn't sure if his idea was a good one or not.
"I was going to send it off in the post and hope for a reply," Odion said, obviously not so confident in the plan now that Lani was drilling him about it. He had spent several days contemplating it, then several more days following through. After sending it off though, he didn't know what to expect, it could go so many different ways that he didn't want to get his hopes up on being forgiven. Odion gave a nod at Lani's question. Of course that wouldn't be the end of it, not after what he'd seen in those memories. It had given him a huge sense of guilt, but also a sense of hope. If he felt guilty, then maybe there was a heart in there after all that did care to know his blood family. He gave several more nods, never breaking eye contact with Lani. "I know," he said simply. He understood the implications of the letter, understood that he would probably venture out there once more, into the rainy hills of his homeland. But he could tell from Lani's expression and reaction from before, that he wasn't ready to hear the rest of Odion's idea.
"I don't know if it's a good idea or a bad one, but just in case I have to leave for a while, you'll know why. I wanted you to know why." Odion said, taking Lani's hands off of his shoulders and into his hands, holding them gently. "I wanted you to know that you helped me decide to do it, when I never would have even dreamed of it before..." He smiled slightly, unsure of what might become of the letter, hoping that maybe Lani would somewhat understand, when the buzzer rang. Odion stepped away quickly, unlocking the front door before Lani could protest in any way. "You are going to let me pay, aren't you?" Odion asked, a hint of a challenge behind the question as he fished out his wallet and headed for the door. They only had a couple minutes to decide before their food was delivered. The remnants of their previous conversation rang in Odion's ears, and he wondered if Lani was going to say more on the topic after the delivery person left.
