The Basics
Name: Odion Martins
Nicknames: Odi
Age: 21
Orientation: Gay
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Time control
Basically, Odi can slow things down very easily. He has the ability to speed things up temporarily, but feels that this side of his power is useless. As someone who has slowed things down for most of his teenage life, the ability comes naturally, and mostly without harm.
Side effects include: inability to keep a schedule (little knowledge to time of day or even what day it is), headaches, and queasiness.
It's not like he has no control over his powers, they have grown with him. Still, waking up and thinking it was Monday only to realize it was the weekend would irritate anyone who otherwise had a great handle on time control.

The Details
Hair Color: Reddish Brown
Eye Color: Dark Blue
Any Piercings? No
Any Tattoos? No
Any Scars? No
General Appearance: Odion stands at an average height and has a thin build. For the most part, he likes to keep his hair short, in order to keep it out of his eyes. His skin is quite pale, something his Irish heritage attributes to. He has dark blue eyes, which can be very convincing when he needs them to be. His lips are thin but suit his face quite well. His ears are a bit big for his face, but not everyone looks perfect, and Odi’s been told once or twice that they only add to his boyish charm.
Personality: Odion comes off as a charmer most of the time once you get past his shy exterior. Due to his upbringing, the boy doesn’t trust people easily and will run at the first sign of conflict. He doesn’t like standing up for himself, and would rather scram than stick around for a fight, even if it’s for his own honour. His manners are good and he’s a gentleman around women and men alike.
This seventeen year old prefers solitude to companionship, but enjoys the occasional social encounter here and there. It would be easier to get along in life without anyone, but Odi craves to have at least one close companion while at Hammel (and hopefully once he’s done at the school as well).
His pretty face can be misleading, and he is far from innocent. However, he likes to use his features to his advantage in any kind of situation – getting out of a jam, seducing his prey, or playing innocent.
Odion likes to come off as smart as he thinks he is, and is very aware of how people perceive him. As a con-artist, he likes to be presentable and well liked, especially before making close friendships.
He has the reputation of being a player, but doesn't have the history to back it up. He's never denied the rumors of how many people he's hooked up with, but he isn't going to stop people from thinking what they want of him. Anyone who would care to know the truth could simply ask him, but people seem to be okay with what they here through the grapevine.
Odion is often thought of as having antisocial personality disorder, as he would rather keep to himself, and his overanalytical nature doesn't help this diagnosis.
He can be very sneaky, and won't stick around in a messy situation if it means his own hide is at risk. Yes he can be a loyal friend, that doesn't always make him such.
Lastly, most people would say he's 'adorable' or 'cute', something he's neither appreciates nor agrees with, but isn't about to make a fuss over. The more approachable he seems, the better. People tend to trust people more when they appear innocent and helpless.
Your Vices
Likes:Rhett. Enough said.
Lani Hunter.
Pickpocketing. You should always love the things you’re good at and do what you love. The thrill of nabbing an expensive watch or a wallet full of cash brings the brightest of smiles to this teen’s face – it’s borderline kleptomania.
Bright and shiny things. See above.
Flirting. It’s a dying art in Odion’s opinion, so he practices often.
Bagels. Good at any time of day or night.
Being alone. Then no one can know what to expect from you.
Teddy Bears. Preferably the big, brown, fluffy kind.
Card castle building. Self explanatory.
Laughing. Odi is not a depressed person by any means.
Magic tricks.
Dressing well. Dress shirts are in high supply.
Dislikes:
Bright colors. They’re annoying and overused.
Poetry. It’s useless and contains too much emotion in so few words.
Snitches. Again, it’s better to be alone.AnimalsHouse Pets. Except street dogs. Otherwise, they’re not worth the burden of being taken care of.
Families. Mostly because he’s jealous of not having what he would consider to be a real one anymore.
People taking his picture. Cameras in general - such annoying contraptions.
Flying in airplanes.
Strengths:
Pickpocketing. He’s good at it and it keeps him alive and joyful.
Winning people over. Stealing people’s hearts is just as much fun as stealing their possessions. Especially when you’re trying to make a buck at various pawn shops – this is key.
Manipulation people. Like above, bending people to his will and desires.
Con artist.
Playing mind games.
Using his power to slow time down. It just works when he needs it to – which makes it even easier to take what he wants/needs.
Weaknesses:
Odion is terrible at making and keeping friends. He’s really only good with surface conversation – anything deeper makes him uncomfortable.
Alcohol. While most members in his pickpocketing group wouldn’t approve of this, Odi has no problem spending the stolen money he has on things he enjoys.
Using his power to speed up time. This is probably why he needs to go to school – there’s a whole side of his power he doesn’t know.
Lani. It's just hard to stay away from that boy.
Fears:
Being caught. It’s only happened a couple of times, but those times have been bad and he intends for them not to continue.
Flying. In other words, airplanes. Had his power been flight, he would have killed himself.
Getting too close. How could he trust anyone with his heart?
Losing his powers. It just feels too good to be true.
Secret:
He would give anything to know who his biological parents are, but is afraid to find or confront them.
Family Ties
Father: Unknown. Bartelino Martins, his ‘adoptive’ father.
Mother: Unknown. Melinda Martins, his ‘adoptive’ mother.
Siblings: Declyn O'Callahan.
Any Other Important People: None.
History
Odion was born to a wealthy family in Ireland, but was unwanted. As his birth mother was only a teenager, Odi knows little about her after having been raised by a totally different family and culture. His mother was quick to hide the pregnancy and just as quick to deposit tiny Odi in a caravan. She knew they wouldn't be able to say no to raising the child - so long as he proved useful. Odion was raised by a traveling caravan of gypsies, and thus has no accent to match his heritage. Nothing is known about the teen’s father.
At a very young age the boy was taught to pickpocket from strangers, and con unsuspecting tourists into giving him money for some broken appendage or another. Odion was the best in his age in his caravan, as he didn’t look like a typical gypsy. Up until age ten, the boy was fairly well cared for, and had strong ‘family’ ties. This ended when the boy found himself lost – not because he didn’t know the area he was pickpocketing in, or because his new family had forgotten about him, but as an individual. Yes, he was good at what he did, but he wasn't part of the family, not really. He didn't feel like he truly fit in, and thus, left the care of his gypsy family.
Having the skill to survive on his own, Odi lived fairly unnoticed until a band of other young pickpocketers caught his attention – and he theirs. He was young enough to learn their rules and form to the crowd, but old enough to take care of himself and contribute to the group. The boy quickly picked up more street smarts and learned parkour. Although he had no formal education, Odion still managed to teach himself to read and write in various languages, starting with French, Spanish, and Italian in order to work himself up to English.
It was in the gang that he made especially close connections with Rhett. The blonde could be annoying at times, mostly because he seemed to read Odion’s mind, but for the most part they were a good team – probably due to their similar age. The relationship stopped once Rhett went to Kocher haute école pour les surdoués – which would explain his mind reading capabilities and the one occasion he had passed out. Man, it had been a pain in the ass to carry him to the hospital. 2009 2010
Odion was a late bloomer when it came to finding his powers. He always knew he was especially good at being fast when it came to going about unnoticed, but he always thought it was because he was faster than everyone else, not because he was literally slowing things down so he could take what was needed. He would never blame his 'good fortune' on some power he possessed - until his sixteenth birthday, when Odi found himself being recruited by the same people Rhett was ‘taken’ by after successfully stealing a silver watch. It was after this item was stolen that recruiters from Kocher found the young man and took him under their wing.
The time stopper really didn’t want to go to the meta school, but he had to spend a year at the European school before he requested to go to the American school - Hammel. It seemed like the best bet with his new found power. Odion and Rhett did spend half a year together at the European meta-school before the blonde transferred to Hammel - leaving Odi to his own devices. It would only be a short while before he and Rhett would reunite though, and now seventeen year old couldn't wait to see his, well, 'friend' again.
He liked the simple life he once had, the closeness he had with his fellow pickpocketers in Europe gave him rest and somewhere to belong. He wanted to go to America and this seemed like a good opportunity. At least there would be one person that he knew upon arriving at the new school - it would be like having a small piece of his family with him.
Currently
Love between Rhett and Odion has passed, and though the blonde is back, Odi is unsure whether to give the blonde another chance. A new blonde is in his life now, and though Lani Hunter is giving him a run for his money, Odion can't help but crush on the taken Telekinetic.
Avi has proven a most loyal friend. Soon, he will tell her the truth about his past. But right now, he's afraid of his skeletons.
Things with Lani are at a standstill, as Odion has been betrayed by his best friend. He's broken up with Rhett for good and is trying to start life new. Maybe his new found twin brother can help him along the way.
Roleplay Example
Odion laughed quietly, unsure of what to say. He would sooner agree with the latter, dust didn’t taste very good. Rhett stifled laughter and the redhead sighed. Only once in a blue moon did the blonde laugh, which was a pity. The two of them had been through some pretty rough times: lack of food, shelter, and running into some bad people just to name a few, but they had managed to survive. It seemed a little anticlimactic to die at Rhett’s hands. “You wouldn’t get away with it,” Odion said, repeating what he said earlier. “Besides, you’d miss me too damn much.”
There was nothing that spectacular about the building they were approaching, both of them had seen far better. It look almost like an apartment, but Odion couldn’t be sure. He smiled as he passed Rhett, holding the door open for him. How gentlemanly the ginger thought to himself, his hands still in his pockets as he surveyed the interior decorations. How had Rhett managed to steal the keys to this place anyways? He glanced over at the older boy, who was grinning like an idiot. “What is with your face?” He teased, a small grin on his own. He couldn’t help it; seeing the other boy smile was contagious.
Odion stepped into the elevator with Rhett, watching as the number eleven lit up, and then promptly died. At least the elevator was moving in the direction it was supposed to. The blonde had never been this nervous, Odi didn’t need to be an empath or be able to read people really well in order to know that. He just knew Rhett really well, at least he thought he did. His old mate kept throwing new things into the mix that were only serving to confuse and intrigue Odion. Today would be a prime example of that. Rhett was usually calm, cool, and collected, not jittery and smiling. The ginger looked at him from the corner of his eye, catching his eye, a subtle smile passing over his face. He had a feeling today was going to be a good one.
A moment later and a tender kiss was placed over his lips, and Odi didn’t have time to respond as he jumped from the elevator noise. Damn thing. Someone could have been standing right there, and the redhead let himself be dragged out of the elevator, his heart in his throat. A pause, another door and another set of keys – Odion was starting to assume a lot of things. Rhett released his hand and the younger boy tried to grab it back, but the blonde was too excited to show him around the small apartment. So Odi had been right at least, maybe he would be right again.
Odion wandered around, letting his hands trail against the barren wall until he reached one of the picturesque windows. Instead of answering Rhett he unlatched the door that lead to the balcony, resting his forearms on the wooden ledge. The view was lovely, spanning other houses – quaint. A happy smile was on his face and he turned to see Rhett standing there, watching him. Odion leaned towards him and pulled him outside, onto the balcony, his face mere inches away from the others. “I like it,” he said simply, “I like it a lot.”
“But what’s the occasion?” He asked, a knowing grin on his face. Odion knew what was going on, but he wanted Rhett to say it. “Spell it out for me.”
