Powers: Shapeshifting (Birds of Prey) and Communication with birds only when in bird form. When Aiya shifts into and out of her form, she gets severe bone pains through her body. Also she ends up with feathers in or sticking out of her clothing and sometimes there will be the ocassional one she has to pluck out, which feels like plucking hair. Sometimes she'll end up with the claws on her fingernails for about a week after.

Any Piercings? Top of left ear, two stretched lobes and two pierced lobes, both beside one another.
Any Tattoos? A small feather tattoo on the outside base of her thumb. All of the family gets a tattoo at 15 of what their shifting ability is, if they have one.
Any Scars? No.
General Appearance: Aiya's general body appearance comes off as boyish because of her lack of curves. She is short, being approximately 5'3. She is also thin and small boned, making her look shorter than she actually is. Aiya's skin is a light olive color that compliments her long black hair and her round, ice blue mixed with light grey eyes. Most of the muscles on her body are in her arms and chest because of her flying.
Aiya has a thin, pointed nose that has a noticeable nasal bridge. Her lips are small, thin and seem to curve downwards at the edges a little. She has a round face shape with large round eyes that seem larger because of how small her other attributes are and she has small ears that you barely ever see because of her hair. Her hands are lanky and she has long talon-like fingernails that aren't in the greatest shape; some are chipped or cracked and some are different sizes.
Aiya likes to do her makeup as foundation, a simple cat eye to make her eyes look more turned up and then just some mascara for her eyelashes.
Personality: Aiya's an introvert; she prefers to keep to herself most of the time and gets drained when she's around a large group of people for a long time. Although, she's an introvert, shes only an introvert to people she either doesn't know, feels intimidated by, or doesn't trust, making it a little difficult to confront people on her own. If someone talks to her, she will usually answer, but Aiya isn't ever the one who starts a conversation, she's the one who continues it or makes some excuse to leave.
The only time she prefers not to leave is when she is seeing her best friend. When Aiya makes a best friend, she generally gets quite attached to them and likes to hang out with them almost constantly. When she starts to think about how clingy she can be, she worries if this ever bothers her best friend but she doesn't have the guts to ask them about it because she's worried they might agree and not want to hang out with her as much. Aiya is very loyal to her close friends and sticks up for them when they are insulted by another person, but she doesn't usually tell them off calmly and usually gets cold to them and may yell at them or completely ignore them from that day on.
Although she isn't afraid to yell at people when she gets angry, she generally prefers to keep peace and avoid conflict.

History
When Aiya was younger she lived in a small town in the country, not having to speak to many people and her parents preferred her to stay home because they were still waiting to see if she had an ability. She knew they just didn't want anything to go wrong and have people see because it would scare them. She wasn't at all upset for not being able to go and see other people in town because she just wasn't interested in them and she understood her parent's fears.
Aiya comes from a family full of shapeshifters, her dad could shapeshift into canines, her mom into doe and her sister could shapeshift into rodents. She always wanted to meet her grandpa before he died because her dad had told her all about his ability, bird of prey shifting. She thought it was the coolest thing and always wanted to be able to fly and then, well when she turned 12, she could. Of course it was really difficult for her at first but she got used to it and learned to love it. She would fly across their yard, and through and in trees. Once she got her ability, her dad began telling her stories about when he went to Hammel, an institute and school for 'people like us'. He said his best friend was a fire manipulator who liked to prank people, getting him in trouble alot too. He would laugh and Aiya's mom would tell him to not encourage her to do anything like that at the school. When her sister noticed all the attention Aiya was getting, she got jealous and wanted to have an ability too, then she did get one...
Aiya was out in the trees in the yard when her sister first got her ability. Her sister had turned into a house mouse and wanted to go out and see what it looked like from a mouse's perspective so when she went out, Aiya, in the form of a hawk, swooped down to get something to eat, killing the mouse in her claws like she would do often. Then the mouse shifted. Aiya was in shock, she was confused and then noticed the break in her sisters neck. She shifted and she held her sister in her arms, hugging her close, sobbing and rocking back and forth. She screamed, all she remembers of that day is screaming with her sisters dead body in her arms, knowing she had done this to her. When her parents heard her screaming, they ran outside and saw what happened. They stood in shock too, not knowing how it had happened because Talia hadn't told them she shifted and left the house in secret. Aiya's dad dropped to his knees and put his head in his hands, while her mother ran to her and Talia, repeating 'What happened?!' over and over again.
Her sister still stays in her nightmares and she wakes up in a cold sweat. Her parents didn't blame any of the death as her fault, no one knew. They do wish maybe the circumstances had been different though, and they wish that her sister had more experience with a rodents form of protection; hiding. Even if they don't blame her, Aiya blames herself for the death.
The day after, they got message that Hammel was to come get her tomorrow and they waited for Hammel to come get her. She wasn't sure if she wanted to go to Hammel because of what her ability had done to her and her sister. She didn't know if she wanted to learn about any of it. Even though she didn't like shifting, the only release that helped her the most was gliding through the air and feeling the breeze against her skin. She'd tried other things that kind of helped, she learned piano and she painted but those didn't have the same effect of peace.
Two weeks before the incident, she met Sebastian, who turned out to be her best friend and spent all of her days with him from then on. Until Hammel came to get her a couple weeks later. She stopped talking to Sebastian as much and her parents had convinced her it was a good idea to go to Hammel and learn things about her ability. To face her fears. She guessed that was right and decided to atleast see what it was like. So she went. When she arrived at Hammel she was nervous, especially when she saw the people who had been there a really long time. She got her dorm and was astounded with her surroundings when she got there. That's when she thought maybe it wouldn't be so bad to be at Hammel. She hoped for fun experiences just like her dad, she hoped to have laughs with others but at the same time, she wasn't sure if she was ready to make friends yet. She had to leave her new friend back home and she still mourned the death of her sister. Aiya didn't make any friends the first year and barely spoke to anyone except her teachers. In her second year, that's when she slowly began to open up and speak to the people around her. And in her third and fourth years, she had gotten even more comfortable with everyone, and ended up forgetting what happened to her sister most of the time and she was all around happy.

I could feel it, I knew something had hit a nerve, hard. I could feel my eyes start to sting and I saw my sisters lifeless face. I had to leave. I couldn't let Sebastian see me like this. I didn't want to ditch him or anything but, I didn't want him to worry about me. I pulled out my phone.
Sebastian, I'm sorry I can't meet you today, tomorrow?Promise, I texted.
I ran from outside the local market and across the street, and into the woods. I slowed as I started passing the green of thick brush. I could feel the occasional stab of a stick to my thigh and then I jumped. As I jumped, I shifted into a small falcon and flew. I felt the air currents through my feathers and the wind cutting against my beak. I landed in a place I knew was secluded, it was a place I came whenever this happened, it was close to a creek, surrounded by trees, and there was an old rope swing no one had touched in a good 10 years. I needed to be alone for a minute. I dived down and before I got to the ground, I opened my wings and landed. I walked forward, feeling the numb of sadness start to sink in. My thoughts stabbing me with words over and over again, It's your fault.
No. It can't be...Talia. I felt my nose start to run and my eyes well up. Talia. My throat started to seize up. Talia. I sobbed.
