General Appearance:
Luna is a bit under average height for a young lady, about 5'5", and she fills that entire height with easy good posture. Her head is covered in unevenly cut blonde hair, but even that is arranged neatly. She would rather her hair be longer, but when she teleports, occasionally a bit of hair comes off, after a while she simply gave up on an even cut. It frames a face of a paler tone, with sharp gray eyes topped with dark brows. Her nose is neither particularly big nor small, and her lips follow that pattern as well. She usually uses make-up, making her lips a bit pinker and keeping her skin looking smoother, and the tone lighter and more consistent across her face.
Her neck is not particularly long, nor her shoulders particularly broad, her bust is average at most. She is not one for working out or exercising overmuch, but neither one for indulging in food. Her arms and legs are fairly slim, her hip only just making that characteristic hourglass shape. As mentioned, her posture is quite good, though she has a habit of crossing various parts of her body, sitting mostly cross-legged, often standing with her feet crossed, and her arms tending to rest in an entwined position, even her fingers sometimes befalling the same fate.
Luna's wardrobe is not one of great sophistication, and not as varied as some. Her typical choices of apparel are blouses of various colors and descriptions, mostly short-sleeved and plaid-patterned, paired with slim pants or skirts. She has a fondness for jewelry, almost never without a large necklace of some description, rings are not uncommon either. Her lack of piercings means her ears generally go unadorned, though she does occasionally get taken by the urge to use clip-on earrings, which she usually regrets quickly.
Personality: Luna has many things that work together to make her who she is. She is, first and foremost, a caring, empathetic soul. She has been called a worrier, and she finds that to be accurate, the feelings and situations of those around her affect her deeply. She often places the cares of others above her own, even to the point of distraction. Her attempts to help people rarely take her fully away from what she needs to do, the benefits of working in smaller friend groups in a small town one might suppose. Her devoted nature ensures she sees things through to the end, and this holds especially true for her friends, though it certainly hasn't hurt her school performance, among other things.
Luna is also an energetic sort. She doesn't like to be static, she likes to move, even in little ways, pretty constantly. She is always setting goals for herself to achieve, as well as completing other tasks. They might be as little as tapping her foot 42 times exactly, or anything more or less significant, it doesn't matter, as long as its something to do. As a result, her sleep schedule is not really a schedule so much as a guideline, which makes getting up for school in the morning unpleasant, but she manages. Her lively nature also leaves her with a tendency to play pranks, or snoop, usually in conjunction with her ability to teleport. She doesn't do it often, but over time the urge to do something like it slowly overcomes her dislike of the sensation of instant transportation, and when it does, hijinks ensue. She has a proclivity to come up with a crazy idea, and then build up to performing it, usually with the help of her friend Kiera, and can range from a sudden costume inspiration to running around town collecting discarded paper to make a paper mache something or other, she likes to get arts-and-crafts-y with the ideas, luckily they don't come all that often.
Luna has confidence to be sure, but it is tempered with caution, and not a small amount of nervousness. She will stick with her intended goals sure, but part of her worry is always her ability to stick with it. This is partly because of the failures in the past, of which there are always some, and those of her friends and family that were most devastating, fearing she might go down the same path. She doesn't let it keep her from trying though, and that perseverance is one of the things that keeps her who she is.
Her teleportation also takes its toll on her, gives her some quirks, but ultimately she does not regret having the power, though she is not a fan of using it, due to events in her childhood, as well as its side-effects. She has almost no sense of direction, almost as if her brain would rather her simply teleport to where she's going, and has no good mental map or capability of following walking or driving directions, which also leads to a tendency to lose things rather easily. When she does teleport, she ends up with headaches of varying degree, usually not much at first, but any more than once and things start going poorly. She also gets very disoriented when she teleports, usually having to sit or lie down immediately from an onset of vertigo.Your VicesLikes:
- Rhythm: She likes anything with a good beat, whether it be a song or drips of rain
- Open Skies: She loves the feeling of openness, it makes her feel safe
- Close personal ties: She prefers getting very close with a few people to having large, less familiar friend groups
- Peaches: Her favorite food, hands down, always puts her in a good mood
- Chess: She played with her brother a lot growing up, she got good at it too, she grew to like the timed version, kept her on her toes more, but she never did compete, just played casually.
- Classical music: She loved listening to it when her brother was around, after he got his iPod it was basically a non-stop jam to the true classics
- Quill pens: They make writing more of a challenge, and look so snazzy
- Masks: One of her more fiddly hobbies, and one she keeps mostly to herself, though she does run a blog about the making and showing of them, occupies the biggest drawer in her dresser
- Long hair: She can never keep hers long, but she loves the idea, and likes it when other people do it
- Birds: She got to be up close to quite a lot of them thanks to her brother, she loves their singing, patterns, everything about them really
- Jewelry: She likes shiny bits and things to decorate oneself with
Dislikes:
- Pears: Stupid things trying to be peaches, yet failing miserably
- Checkers: Infuriating game, nothing at all like chess, not even challenging, just awful
- Bad Singing: doesn't matter if its off-key or off-beat, if it isn't right she has to shut it out
- Reality TV: pfft, real, yeah right, just an excuse for people who can't act to make too much money
- Loose clothing: she feels exposed in it, she prefers her clothes to touch her skin consistently
- Overtold jokes: overplayed songs she can deal with, but repeated or long jokes she just doesn't have patience for
Strengths:
- Organized: since she loses thing so easily, she had to make herself put things in the exact same place as much as possible
- Energetic: She doesn't crash easily, and doesn't rely on caffeine
- Listening: Luna isn't the sort to sit quietly all the time, but she knows when its a good time to, and takes in what people say well
- Punctuality: When you get lost as easily as she does, and don't want to feel like collapsing when you get somewhere, you learn to give yourself more than enough time for everything
Weaknesses:
- Can't stay still: She prefers to be standing to sitting almost all the time, and fidgets when she has to sit, a lot of people find it annoying
- Noticing unusual things: Luna was never much good at "spot the difference" puzzles, and remains horrible at hide-and-seek, she more or less expects things to stay as they usually are when she sees them, she is easily fooled by sleight of hand
- Uncertainty: Luna may act with confidence, but in her mind she is almost always uncertain about things, constantly questioning her actions and trying to think of alternatives to anything tricky, its a force of will to work past it, and she doesn't always succeed at that, its pretty easy to notice the lag between her need to decide something and her actual decisions
- Closed off: Luna is not the most open person, even with those closest to her, she has trouble telling other people about her problems
- Impatient: she can wait when she has to... but she doesn't like it, and usually tries to get things done as soon as she can, and dreads when things can't be done sooner rather than later
- Romance: She just doesn't really feel it very often, and has trouble realizing when people are interested in her, she reflexively friend-zones as a result, sometimes leading to people being either confused or hurt
- Other weaknesses found in the Personality section concerning teleportation
Fears:
- Total darkness: She doesn't exactly need a nightlight, but she's not one to close herself in a closet, or to go wandering on a moonless night
- Closed spaces: very claustrophobic
- Herself: She's seen how her brother could fall, and herself notes their similarities and familial bond, plus she's had her own mishaps, especially with her power, but also without her power, that coupled with her constant uncertainty sometimes give her dark thoughts concerning her own path through life
Secret:
- Singing: She doesn't sing in front of anyone, not family, not in the shower, not to friends, absolutely no karaoke... but when everyone is out of the house, she lets loose
- Letters to herself: She occasionally writes a letter to herself, then hides it under her underwear in her drawer, there's nothing dirty in there... but all the mischief she gets up to when teleporting goes in there, all her failures, and she chastises herself in them, she's never given anyone any indication the letters exist, and likely never willFamily TiesFather: Archer Rowley (56) (Super Strength)

Any Other Important People:
Kiera Kendra - Friend since the 3rd grade, arguably closest
Toby McGuiness - her biggest chess opponent, they've been rivals for years
Minerva Harrow - Her favorite teacher from Hammel, power control teacherHistoryLuna was one of those quiet babies. Sure, she made noises, talked after a while, but she never did any of it as much as people expected. She chose instead to look around with wide eyes almost constantly, and feel around with chubby little fingers, her face in constant wonder. When she did start talking, most of what she said were questions, asking about anything and everything, often more than once, many times in a row.
When she got to walking, she was one of those kids that you swear they were just next to you a second ago, but all of a sudden were across a room, always on the go. She wasn't exactly social leading up to puberty, but she talked to people some, she wasn't particularly hated, her teachers liked her. She made one very good friend young, Kiera Kendra, a very patient girl who was kinder than anyone Luna knew, and always put up with her fidgeting and crazy ideas. She got on well with her brother... when he wasn't hiding her stuff anyway. She loved playing chess with him when she got a bit older, and he was good conversation. Her parents she got on well enough with, but she didn't talk with them a lot.
Puberty was when the fireworks started, as they do for so very many children. At the tender age of 11, her first period came with her first teleportation. She was in the middle of class, wishing more than anything to be away from it so she could take care of her issue, and suddenly, she was. Right into her bathroom at home. Luckily it was the bathroom, not only was everything she needed for the month easily at hand, but so was the toilet she needed to throw up in from the sudden intense vertigo making her already upset stomach so very much worse, but this was not the end of her first incident, not by a long shot. While in the middle of evacuating her stomach, she teleported again, but this time into a small sewage pipe. It was dark, it was cramped, it was unimaginably disgusting. She heaved for goodness only knows how long, running out of material after a while, but not losing the needs to express the extreme disgust she was feeling. When she finally managed to stop, the only companion to her small shuddering form covered in who knows what was the darkness, the closeness. She panicked, hard, she was in tears, feeling herself fall apart. She closed her eyes to try to shut it out. She remained in that state for a bit more than an hour. When she finally came to, she was back in her bathroom. She wept, drew herself a bath, and tried to wash away everything that had happened.
Her life went on from that day. Luckily, the Hammel Institute was very understanding of her missing some class due to powers acting up, and took her in after her parents notified the school of her meta-human development. She started Hammel just a few days after leaving her old school. A few people were apprehensive of Luna after the teleporting incident, worrying about her presence in odd places, but before too long she was seen just as any number of other teleporters in the school, if anything slightly better, as she was not inclined to prank people with it. With the power came the training and counseling, which along with everything else made Luna's life very busy, a busyness not at all helped by Toby McGuiness, an insatiable chess opponent a year under her in Hammel, challenging her at every opportunity, which she could hardly pass up, since her brother had stopped being around quite so muchto do battle with.
Time passed, as it tends to. Her brother was doing various things, relationships, being a bird, other things more away from home than not. Luna was busy a large amount of the time, but a great many periods of relief came from her friend Kiera. They spent a lot of time together in these years. Once, they were simply walking down the hall on the way to class, when Luna wished she could fly to get there faster. With that, she accidentally dragged Kiera right into a warp and onto the roof of the school. They were totally stuck there, and they had a good laugh over it, ate lunch and all, before calling anyone to resolve it. Another time, Luna needed a break from her homework, badly, and so she grabbed some balls of yarn and went over to Kiera's house, where to both their surprises, neither knew how to knit or do anything of the sort, so instead they did everything else you can do with string. They outlined mazes on the floor, they threw the balls for Kiera's cat, they even tossed the rolls over her house to make it more felt. Fun times all around.
And then, it hit her. Her brother, of all things. An overdose, near death experience. Sure, her brother had looked a bit rough lately, but her parents hadn't told her about the rehab, and she had been too busy to be around the house enough to notice. The moment she heard, she wanted nothing more than to see him, to be by his side. She performed her first willing teleport outside of training, and was right in the hospital, watching him as he lay, much to the surprise of the nurse attending him. She watched him in silence. Her parents rolled in, then rolled out a few hours later, but she stayed. Eventually she asked the nurse where he had been found, and with a good enough description, she warped there. The place was a mess. She knew her brother well enough to know what belongings were his, other than the drug paraphernalia anyway. She gathered up his things and took them home, warping for a final time that day. She drew herself a bath, and after a nice bout of barfing up her lunch from the successive teleporting, she lay in the bath in contemplation. There were some tears, there were some nervous laughs, there was a lot of silence. The water went lukewarm. The sun set. She hadn't turned on any lights.
Things have gone mostly up since then. Toby was still a constant threat to her position as the best chess player that wasn't in the chess club. Kiera was still a constant companion. Her brother was clean, and she saw him often enough. Despite this, something was fundamentally different. When she first teleported, she'd always felt hollow afterwards, like there was a part of herself she was afraid of, that she had no control over. She lost a bit of her confidence that day, her certainty in most situations was a mere facade. After her brother's overdose though, that was when she really lost herself. He was one of the closest people in her life, and not only that, but family! And this happened, without tipping her off at all. It drove her to distraction, what else wasn't she noticing? What if she could end up doing the same thing? She couldn't even control her powers, how did that prove she could control the rest of herself? These questions drove her to seek closer counseling, which she decided to focus on controlling her powers. She'd met Minerva years ago, as her first power's instructor, and she sought her out again for personal tutoring, which her parents were more than happy to provide for. With Kiera as a confidant, and Minerva as a close guide, Luna felt she was taking key steps towards healing...Roleplay ExampleSo... normally I would do a slice of the character's life... but I think this sample from another site gives more of a general sense of how I might RP, it's from a Code Lyoko roleplay site, one of my brainchildren that I thought about the most time overall, so... enjoy! ^-^Tera's eyes shot open, or at least that's what the feedback from her eyelids told her. Whatever, today was an important day. Going to meet someone about a job? One that didn't pay awfully, and didn't seem to care that she couldn't see? Hell yes! Just getting something on a resume is good enough, but Tera was quite psyched. It didn't seem like a legal internship or anything like that, but really something busy to do is good no matter what.
She hopped out of bed and got ready as fast as she could. Room layout, psh, please, no issue after the first week. Clothes, found, PJs off, clothes on, no time flat. Rad shades? Maybe not for the job... then again why exactly the hell not? Pointy red shades check. She woke up her computer from its slumber. "Check new messages." the response chirped back, "No new messages." Good, she didn't want to take the time, better to be early!
She grabbed her cane from its perch by the door, its dragon head oh so familiar under her fingers, and headed out her door, her head held high and a smile on her face. One hand into her jeans pocket, other on her cane only checking for protrusions, she knew the halls just fine. Outside she went, needing only her nose to lead her to the cafeteria, where breakfast was being served. As much as she would normally want a full breakfast, today just a bagel half with strawberry cream cheese from the tray they were kept on for students in a rush, weird to be one of those kids, but it was a special day after all.
A voice greeted her as she crossed the courtyard, bagel in hand and mouth. "Tera! Hey!" Tera waved her cane in the air a bit but kept walking, mouth too full to yell, but she heard running behind her so it was all good. "Hey, where you off to? No breakfast together today?" Tera swallowed before answering, keeping her pace. "Sorry, I forgot to tell you, I'm going to a job, they agreed to take me!" Her friend waited a tick before responding, probably forgetting that Tera couldn't see the inquisitive look on her face. "A job that makes you work on weekends?" "Yeah, at least for now, they'll give me a real schedule today." Another tick for an answer, "Well, that's great news!" A shoulder squeeze deepened Tera's smile. "Thanks, still on for dinner, yeah?" "Oh of course! Later!" Pitter-patter, all gone.
Tera walked onward, out the school gates, every now and again getting her phone out to give her spoken directions. It wasn't too long before she was there, Celestial Communications, local HQ. She finished her bagel with a satisfied bite, and walked in the front door, new territory, walking slower being more careful with her cane. Not too long after she entered the door someone called out, "Excuse me, miss Tera is it?" She turned and walked toward the speaker, touching a desk before responding. "Yep, that's me." Clearly a man's voice now, "Ah excellent, very timely you are, a good sign for what is to come. If you would follow me, I will direct you to where you shall be brought up to speed." She was pretty sure the man might be British or something from his phrasing and tone, regardless she followed his footsteps after he got out from behind the counter.
"Right this way." he instructed as he walked off. She followed not too far behind, they turned into an elevator with apparently no one else in it. She heard a card swipe, some numbers being punched, and a low buzzing like some sort of scanner. "Something wrong?" Tera asked of the man. "Oh no, just have to clear a few things, we're on our way." Tera felt the elevator begin its descent, but something didn't quite add up here. "You aren't normally behind that desk, are you?" She heard a light chuckle. "What gave it away?" "Well you didn't stay there, and you just did a bunch of security things I'm guessing." Another chuckle, "Very astute, you are quite correct. Do you know what your job will be?" Tera frowned. "Not really, I was just told that you would accept me." "Good, so the PR department didn't screw it up. Your job shall be revealed shortly, though really its more of an internship."
Tera quirked her eyebrow but said nothing more. The elevator stopped after about half a minute, must have been quite a ways down, before the doors slid open with a pneumatic hiss, different than above, must be a secondary door for security or some such measure. She followed his footsteps out, then after a moment in which he was likely remembering that she couldn't see what was going on around her, with only some beeps and keyboard tapping for audio clues, he spoke. "You are part of a small group of interns that will be assigned to a singular task, if you are up to it, which given the information you supplied in your application, you should be just fine." Tera quirked her eyebrow while following. "I was actually curious about that, why exactly was I selected, sir? What job could I do?" The man said nothing for the moment, but walked on. After the pause, "Well I suppose now you are truly in the complex it is safe to say you are in for the long haul as they say. There is a baseline to be set first however, and for that, if you trust us, demonstration would serve far better than words. Do you trust us, Ms. Almandine?"
Tera had to think for a tick. She supposed there wasn't much choice now, she was much too curious. "Sure, Show me what you have." She said with confidence. The man's tone shifted to a happier note. "Excellent. Now, I will take your hand for a moment, I must guide you into a small chamber. There is a small ledge there, careful... there we are." She followed his motions into what she could tell was a small metallic chamber, but she couldn't tell much more than that. "Alright, we shall begin, and I feel you will be pleasantly surprised." His footsteps went away, and the door to the chamber hissed shut. Tera was not holding her confidence perfectly, but a soothing voice came over the speakers within the chamber. "Scanning, processing... new target detected, running initialization... transposing... digitization." With the last, Tera felt a gust of wind that she swore carried her far into the sky, though she knew she was underground.
Over the hard, rocky surface of the mountains, a formless blob began to acquire a shape, becoming what first seemed like a slight girl, but then acquired horns and texture, looking something slightly less human. Tera touched down lightly on the ground with cane in hand, but she fell to her knees almost immediately. What she felt was not what she had expected at all. "Tera, can you hear me? What's wrong? Can you see anything?" A voice, the man's she realized, seemed to come from inside her head. She did not respond, as her brain was not quite done with whatever it was that was happening to her. She took a deep breath in through her nose, but it felt so... different. She could feel something... smell it... grass, under her.she could smell every blade of it, all around her, feel just where it was. A few meters away was a tree, though it made no sound, and smelled just like wood, but so sharply, so strangely, she knew right where it was.
"Uh... Sorry, um, no I can't see, idiot, but there's something, weird... my nose is, I don't know, GAH it's weird! What's going on? Where am I?" She breathed deeply, trying to get a handle on what her brain was telling her through her nose. "Ummm, well miss Tera, I don't know what exactly is going on with your nose, or your eyes for that matter, but I can tell you that you are in a virtual world. You yourself are somewhat different now, as is your cane, and your senses... though honestly the program should have given you sight, we don't actually know what it did to you... Carry on if you can, but if at any time you feel like you cannot continue, shout 'Force logout', and you will exit immediately."
Tera was getting used to the sensation, it reminded her of when she could see, vaguely at least, it was just odd that it came through her nose. "Alright, well, what should I do?" She got an answer not in the form of words, as she expected, but from a cherry red streak that rushed past her head and struck a tree behind her. "Well, that Blok might be a good start. I believe your cane doubles as a pair of swords if I am reading this correctly, pull at the top and bottom. You seem to have other abilities... but I am not quite sure what they are. Try to make do with the cane until we can get you more information."
So this world was hostile, eh? Tera didn't mind terribly. Finally, a video game I can play, she thought with a wicked grin. She whipped her cane into her other hand and drew the halves apart, sliding them easily into dual blades. She took a whiff of her surroundings, and caught scent of a cube, kinda mustard-ey, charging up a cherry blast in the center. Tera quickly jaunted sideways to dodge the blast, then charged the creature. One two, one two, and through and through, she gutted the thing right in the squishy marshmallow center, then smelled its blue raspberry rain as it disintegrated into pixels and vanished.
"Well handled. We think we have isolated your abilities. It seems you need to concentrate for several second, in a kneeling position, in order to access them. Though, er, we don't quite know what will happen. Maybe you can find out with the company coming your way." Tera took another sniff and smelled something unmistakeable, lobster. Though its shape was more crab-like, but whatever, that was all semantics as far as Tera cared. She figured she would try this 'ability', whatever it was. She knelt down and concentrated on... what exactly? She supposed just the world she was in, the smells, the sounds, the... her eyes glowed a bright red, and she began a transformation as two more Krabs approached. Her skin grew scaled, and her body grew larger, changing form into that of a mighty dragon.
Tera heard a weird sort of commotion in her mind, as if someone had accidentally activated the microphone on the other end, she vaguely heard something like "What the hell just happened?", but she was much more focussed on her new form. First a new sense, now a new body? Tera was impressed. She felt... AL1V3. She flexed her claws and wings, flicked her tail, and snorted a puff of steam. Oh, this? This is cool. She sniffed the air, detecting her foes, her PR3Y. She leapt forward and raked at the first Krab with her talons, slashing its eye and ending its existance. The next two fired upon her, one missing, the other's blast of cherry washing against her scales, like jetsam in the tide. It stung, but she was still very much intact. Tera flapped her wings, going airborne, then flapped harder, generating a huge gust, knocking her foes back and down. She came down upon them hard, hurting a little from the fall, but taking both Krabs down.
"Miss Tera, be careful! You are not invincible, you are already a third down on stamina, and we are detecting more hostiles inbound on your position! Exercise extreme caution!" Tera nodded assent, seeming to be incapable of speech, then scented again, detecting more foes... and more shots inbound. Four in all, only two found their mark, but Tera felt herself shrinking, and she could tell that she was not going to last this encounter. "Force logout!" she shouted just as she regained her humanoid form. She shrank farther into a blob of silver before popping out of existance.
Tera stumbled out of the scanner into a world of total darkness once more. A single tear rolled down her face, though exactly why not even she was sure of. She wiped her face and regained composure, putting her cane down and not moving until someone could move her somewhere safe, since she wasn't familiar with the place. Amidst the commotion of keyboards, shouting, and footsteps around her, the voice of her guide emerged right next to her. "Well, that was quite the adventure, yes? Don't worry about that situation, we called in our best agent to settle the matter, though we should probably get you out of here before she arrives, quite a temper that one." He said before gently pushing on her shoulder. She followed his push all the way back to the elevator.
They ascended in silence, Tera thoughtful. Upon emerging in the lobby, her guide spoke again. "Well Miss Almandine, I hope you enjoyed your first day. I hope we shall be seeing you more soon?" A smile spread across Tera's face, showing teeth. "Hell yeah! Any time you like!"What About You?Name: I use ObliviMancer in the Cbox, and I go by Mancer and Livi usually
