Not As Truck As You Hit and Ran

The word "weekend" meant a lot of things to a lot of people. To Ben Kramer, it meant time to drink some beer and relax at the local bar away from whiny kids and their usual teen-aged problems which mostly consisted of angst, superpowers, angst and more angst. So he sat at the bar nursing some beer on tap wondering if there would be anyone to while away the evening with him so that when he went back to work on Monday, he wouldn't have to worry too much about the students and their angst-ridden lives.

Ben wore his usual leather jacket over his favorite Batman tee-shirt and a pair of jeans along with his most comfy, most worn out pair of gym shoes, his legs dangled from the bar stool like a child's legs. He wondered if he was going to be able to perform the delicate task of climbing down this evening or if he would just fall off like usual. The question would be answered once he was done with his current beer and maybe a couple more.

The word “weekend” meant a lot of things to a lot of people. To Sean, it meant time with his partner. They had set Saturday night as date night this week, complete with going out to one of their favorite nightspots in Pilot Ridge, run by a friend of theirs.

Although Sean had encouraged Josh to run for office several times, inwardly, the telepath was glad that his partner had chosen not to run again this year. He cherished the ability to spend time with the other man, and this autumn proved so different from last year with the frequent town hall meetings and campaign events.

However, the attorney had gone to visit his mother and father earlier in the day to spend some of Shabbat together. While Sean had offered to pick Josh up and drive him back to Pilot Ridge, the other man had insisted on taking a taxi, in case his mother held him late.

Josh had sent him a text informing him that he was running late.

Sean took the opportunity to relax a bit and wait. Walking up to the bar, he flagged down the bartender and asked for a ginger ale. Since they had cut down on their alcohol intake, the telepath wanted to save his drinking for when Josh arrived.

He settled at the bar in the meantime. Spotting Ben Kramer from Hammel, he shot the other man a smile.
