As a special field trip, Hammel has rented out a private campground in New Hampshire for five days. Staff and students get to take a break from school to enjoy nature, and just having a few days off. Every student in good academic standing is invited to attend. If your student is regularly in trouble and you know they wouldn't be invited, they can't post here. (If you aren't sure, PM Sean's character account.)
The campground has many cabins for housing. Students are separated by sex and are in groups of 12 per cabin. (Six sets of bunk beds, hurry if you want the top bunks!) Staff will do checks at 11PM for lights out. Be in your own cabin by then. Staff are in smaller cabins in groups of four.
There are organized activities like nature hikes, a dance on the 27th, canoeing and sailing on the lake, and a campfire every night except the 27th. There are also free periods where students can explore on their own, swim in the lake, do arts and crafts, and try out the obstacle course. The last few years have had after hours truth or dare, although that is not an authorized activity.
If your student plans on misbehaving, remember that he or she can ruin it for everyone. Students caught breaking curfew or smuggling in contraband (drugs, alcohol, weapons, fireworks, basically anything they'd get in trouble for having at school) will be sent back to Hammel immediately.
All threads during this field trip must be posted in this forum. Though the trip is scheduled for September 24-28, this forum will be open until November 30. It will be locked then. Completed threads will not be moved to the archive, but will be archived in this forum when it is locked.
Enjoy!
