Despite her electrokinesis, Ash actually enjoyed the lake. She hadn't feared water before her manifestation, the tall teen had been a good swimmer and never felt discomfort at being drenched. However, when her powers first appeared, a strong and steady growing fear of water began to emerge.
It frustrated her. Ash knew there was nothing to be afraid of, she could swim and there was no such thing as sea-monsters. Much to her annoyance, this didn't stop her from flinching every time water splashed her unexpectedly or panicking whenever she got too close to a large body of water. Despite this, the lake was still calming to Ash. It moved slowly, so it didn't scare her like the ocean did.
Sighing slightly, Ash walked along the path, staring closely at the lake as she wandered. Fear was an odd thing. It never raised its head until the thing it feared was right on top of it. Well, at least it was that way for Ash. Stopping in her movements, Ash sat down under a tree growing next to the lake shore. Near the shore was stony but the place she was sitting on was full of rich grass, healthy from the available water. Reaching into her bag, Ash pulled out a popular book; the cover had two black mountains and a red sun in between. It was about a short fellow who went on an adventure with a wizard and other short fellows to slay a dragon.
Losing herself in the pages, Ash kept reading the novel as the sun began to creep further into the sky, reflecting off the lake with a golden glow. The teen no longer noticed people moving about her and would probably be startled if someone interrupted her reading.
