The BasicsName: Eugene Harrison Whitaker
Nicknames: Gene
Age: 17
Orientation: Undecided
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Visible Aura - Gene glows in the colors of his aura, as if always being seen through the eyes of an aura reader, only everyone can see it. The colors in his aura change based on both his mood and his health. For the ease of consistency, I’m using this color chart(HERE) to classify what those colors mean. This power is generally always on, but with practice and concentration, he can lessen its noticeability to almost nothing. The colors become more vivid, however, when he flustered, or stressed, or doing something else that prevents him from staying calm or which breaks his concentration. Also, it is far more noticeable in the dark than when in bright light. When under bright sunlight, the colors fade naturally without much effort, allowing him to appear normal. Cloudy days are hardest for him because will need to focus more to keep it hidden. Keeping his aura hidden, however, yields headaches and fatigue correlated with how long and how much effort he needs to put into it, though these should fade as he exercises the practice more. He is also unable to turn it off while he sleeps, making him a convenient nightlight for midnight bathroom runs.

General Appearance: While Gene has an adequate amount of height to him(5’10), Gene has absolutely none of the body to support it, save for his skeleton maybe. Gene is tall, but lanky, and borderline unhealthily underweight(or actually underweight) due to a combination of a high, youthful metabolism(this may change as he gets older) and him being the pickiest eater known to man, resulting in the lack of the necessary nutrition needed to put on weight(currently 125lbs). In addition to this, Gene does absolutely no physical activity such that attempting to rush up a flight of stairs will leave him winded. He has bony shoulders, bony hips, and the faintest outline of his ribs when he inhales deeply.
Gene has a youthful face, at least, with the full lips and cheeks of a child. High cheekbones underline his mono-lid eyes, and a strong, straight nose stands between them. (as opposed to something other than a nose ) He keeps his black hair cropped short and almost always in a bowl-like cut with heavy bangs. While he can smile(and it make him look like the silliest, most adorable derp kid ever), Gene unfortunately spends his days with a very serious expression. Or just outright scowling.
His wardrobe consists of blazers and jackets, collared shirts and polos, and fitted slacks, usually of dark colors, though he does have a few which are a much brighter hue. Gene doesn’t wear jeans often, nor will he wear shorts, or graphic t-shirts(he prefers solid colors). He owns a pair of sneakers, though has never worn them, instead opting for his black scholls.
Personality: Gene hates you. And your little dog too. Gene is somewhat of a pretentious brat, in that he comes from a very well-off family, dresses sharp for something like high school, and refuses to speak to more than a few people in a day. Or a week. Or ever. (I’m exaggerating) Gene does not interact with other students well, often judging them silently, until they ask him why he looks so sour. Then he’ll say outright just how stupid he thinks they are. He is a smartass kid who can always find something that dissatisfies him. Gene has a few people he talks to regularly, but if you ask him, he wouldn’t call them ‘friends’. More like ‘people who don’t bore me’.
Underneath the heavy walls is an ignorant, sheltered boy who knows next to nothing about how the real world works. He spends his free time reading comic books, and watching anime, and collecting action figures and figurines, and then he’ll pull out his super secret stash of playboy magazines from under his mattress(the ones the maid already found and kindly put back after changing his sheets without a word) and give those their weekly necessary gawk. He also enjoys reading books with exciting, plotty plots, such as mysteries and thrillers, or any other sort of story that requires thinking.
Despite reading as much as he does, Gene actually does very poorly in English class, finding the act of writing to be tedious and overall annoying and basically he just doesn’t want to do it. As his parents expect him to go to a good university and invest in an education to lead to a very successful career(they said doctor), Gene is also expected to do well in school. However, Gene struggles more than he lets on in his studies, the boy using everything he has just to achieve a standard B. Though this may also be attributed to his tendency to procrastinate in order to give more attention to his model collection.
Gene is a very lonely person, though he doesn’t really recognize that himself. He spends a majority of his time outside of school at home by himself(since his parents work so much and Aggie honestly isn’t the best company), and so has gotten used to entertaining his adolescent mind with single-player video games, web surfing, and other types of media. The thought of having a circle of friends to hang out with after school(or anytime, actually), or to have any source of companionship outside of his fictional world characters is completely foreign to him. While he has been invited out at times, he declines both out of habit, under the impression that that’s just how things worked, and the fear of not knowing what to expect. He doesn’t adjust to change easily, and it takes a vast amount of time and patience to wriggle past the walls he doesn’t really recognize as those he put up himself. That’s just how it is, he thinks.
Also, he is severely ticklish and so avoids physical contact with people on a regular basis, furthering his own personal isolation. Handshaking is okay, but invading his personal bubble makes him tingle with discomfort and will have him ease away with a glare of disdain towards the other person.Your VicesLikes:

Any Other Important People: Agatha Hunt(non-powered, 46, the maid)HistoryKathy Young was 25 years old and working a journalism internship in England when she met Sean Whitaker, a British man of Korean heritage(their family changed surnames several generations ago to fit in with the culture) who was just starting his Masters in Business Management and Sales. You know the story. Girl meets boy. They fall in love. They get married. Sort of. While Kathy and Sean were together, they were both also very heavily occupied by their jobs and schooling, making it very difficult for them to date in the traditional sense. Then ended up in a long distance relationship when Kathy finally went back home to Burlington, VT to pursue her dream of being a television news reporter. They saw each other twice a year, at best. They did this for four years at which point, during one of their dates, they decided that the relationship was too hard to maintain, with their careers just starting to take off. It was almost a month and a half after their last meeting that Kathy found out she was pregnant.
Rather than try to raise the child herself, or give him up for adoption(which would’ve looked awful! so said her mother), Kathy decided to reunite with Sean after barely two months of being ‘broken up’. The two decided to marry and try to raise the child together, putting their careers on hold for the moment. Kathy moved in with Sean and his family in England, who were quite well-off and more than happy to welcome Kathy into their family. Kathy took three months after Gene was born to start looking for work again, and by the 4th, she had landed a job as an on-call reporter at the the local news station, leaving Gene in the care of his grandparents, Agatha, the housemaid, and his aunt and uncle, all of which spoiled him rotten(save for Aggie). Sean had by this time successfully finished his masters and was headhunted by the marketing department of a pharmaceutical company, at the recommendation of one of his professors. With both parents working so much, they missed many milestones of Gene growing up, such as his first steps and first words.
When Gene was three years old, his mother Kathy was offered a job back in the States near her hometown, which she took without a thought. She liked England, but wanted to be back at home close to her family. At least that’s the story she gave. Kathy moved back to Burlington with her son and Agatha, who had taken on the role of being Gene’s nanny while his parents were off working. Sean continued to work in England until he took a position with foreign sales within his company, allowing him to travel a lot more. He unofficially moved back in with his wife and son, buying a house for the three of them(and Aggie) out in Pilot Ridge so Kathy wouldn’t have to stay with her parents anymore.
Gene started school on time, much to the relief of Aggie and Gene’s grandparents who thought he might have to wait a year before starting his primary education. However it wasn’t long after he began kindergarten that he was starting to have issues with the other children. Not necessarily on his end, but he would come home crying and whining about the nasty thing those children did or said, and complain about how much he hated them. Well, if her son was being bullied, then that was no good at all! Kathy pulled him out of public school and set him up with home tutors for the duration of his elementary education, and continued into the first couple years of his junior high education.
It was at supper time that he manifested his power, when he was 13 years old. He was (as usual) picking at his food and contemplating secretly throwing the whole meal out the window when his mother noticed there was a sudden odd light in the room. It took her a few moments to realize that the glow was coming from her son. Living in the same town as the American meta-school, along with having a meta for a husband, Kathy didn’t take long to realize what had happened. It was not more than a day later that the recruiters came to meet with Gene. He was enrolled in Hammel shortly after. Since he already lived in town, he was thankful that he didn’t have to move out of his home and into the dormitories like so many other students did. Besides, the rooms there were too small to house his things, such as his model and figurine collection that he’d been working on for a few years now(which started with simple cereal box toys and progressively grew from there into an obsession that his grandparents indulged him in by buying him new figures during visits, holidays, birthdays, etc..)
Having not been to a ‘real school’ in so long, Gene didn’t adjust well. He found the other students noisy and disturbing. And mean. Again, he was teased for his quiet nature, for his dress style, and now for his aura, and thus his moods, always being on display. Of course, he was told to simply ignore the bullies. They were just jealous, his grandmother would tell him. Jealous of what? he asked. “Because you’re better than them. You’re special, honey, because you come from money. The poor are always jealous of those more fortunate than them. That’s why they try to steal your lunch money, because they have none.” Based on that reasoning, Gene started paying his bullies to leave him alone, which worked, but also got him exploited often. Gene didn’t mind it. If it meant he was left alone and didn’t have to deal with them, then it was worth it.
Gene is entering his final year at Hammel. He’s made a few ‘friends’, but likes to keep to himself more often than not. He’s not involved in any clubs, nor does he intend to be. He’s both looking forward to being done with Hammel at the end of this year, but also dreading having to continue at university. He should be working on his college applications, but instead goes home and vegges out in the living room for the rest of the day(while Agatha cleans around him) either doing homework or watching television or playing a very good rpg, all until his mom comes home. Unfortunately, she usually doesn’t until very late at night so often he’s already asleep by that time. Gene would say he’s bored with life, but then also that he’s content with it. After all, his life is better than anyone else’s. His grandmother told him so!Roleplay ExampleI’m too lazy to write something creative here. What About You?Name: Pheli
