Ghostfacers! (OPEN)

John and Jake weren't sure they wanted to be here.

But Gabe had told them that this house was totally haunted. And Zach had agreed that if the twins wanted to catch a ghost on film this was totally the place to do it. Not that it was on their bucket list to do so, but their brothers seemed so certain about it that John and Jake just had to check it out.

The brothers had brought flashlights and a video camera. Jake had also grabbed the tire iron from the back of their car...just in case.

It was completely dark out as the brothers approached the boarded up house. With a shared look of excitement and anxiety the brothers pried open the door and went inside. Some of the furniture was still in the house, all of it covered in a thick layer of dust. There was a broken mirror hanging on one wall that caught the flashlight beams in an odd way, added to the aura of creepiness int he house.

"Scared?" Jake asked, even though he didn't need to. The brothers could feel each other's fear.

"Not really." John lied, even as the hand holding his flashlight shook.

Still, they kept searching the house. And as they came around the corner, they bumped into something...or someone...in the dark. They screamed in unison, raising their flashlight and tire iron to defend themselves.

It was dark, but…that rarely mattered to Gene. While he disliked his power for obvious reasons, one of the few benefits it held was that he never had to be lost in the dark. This was a good thing, considering Gene didn’t like the dark. When he was younger, he might even say he was terrified of it, always requiring a light to be left on before going to sleep. After manifesting, it never became a problem again.

His peers knew this. As in, the few people he bothered to associate with at school on any given day. There were some who he didn’t associate with who would dare to talk to him as well. It was because of those ones that he ended up on the outskirts of town, inside a large abandoned house that was rumored to be haunted. Why they decided to drag him all the way out here was because….Gene had no idea what they were thinking and had gotten completely bored with this adventure somewhere between then and now….he suspected they only brought him to be a convenient flashlight.

Either that or it was another attempt at bullying. Gene was fine, though. He came because he thought it would be entertaining. Exciting. It wasn’t.

At some point those guys had left when his back was turned. Gene suspected this was also another attempt of theirs to bully him, leaving him alone. Too bad Eugene was already well accustomed to being alone. The joke was on them. None of this was very funny, in either case. It wasn’t even scary. It was just….blehh.

Gene traced his hand against the wall as he walked down the hall, the light of his aura glowing no more than a few centimeters out from the surface of his body. It was dim enough that it didn’t light up the room, but strong enough that he could well see where he was going. That was all that mattered. He thought he heard something, however, and thinking it might be the boys who dragged him down here in the first place, Gene ventured towards it. He kept going until he reached the corner…and bumped into someone.

Or rather, someones. There were two of them, and they were incredibly(and annoying) with their incessant screaming. Gene stood there, staring at them with an unamused expression, his aura radiating a swirl of whites and greys in response to his boredom(and making him look much like a ghost, actually). Gene sighed. “Would you stop that please?” he asked as politely as he could in his impatience.

The brothers couldn't believe it. They had found a ghost. A real-life ghost. Sure, they had doubted their siblings a little bit. But now. Now they couldn't believe their luck.

Lowering their "weapons" the brothers gasped in unison as the ghost spoke. Jake reached into his pocket to slide out his phone and video what they were seeing.

"Dude." John said, voicing their amazement. "It's speaking to us from the beyond."

"We're not here to hurt you," Jake said, trying not to let the quiver in his voice be heard as he held up his camera. That's what people told ghost on those paranormal things, right? Ghost were only dangerous if they felt threatened, right?

It was so crazy seeing an actual ghost. They wondered what had happened to the boy here. Well obviously he had died...somehow. Was is polite to ask a ghost how they died? It wasn't like they could tell from his 'body'. He had no bullet holes or missing limbs or anything. Maybe he had been poisoned?

"Why are you here?" "Why are you here?" they asked, trying to broach the subject without setting off some sort of paranormal rage monster.

Gene glared at the two boys, uncertain of exactly what they were speaking of. “Of course I’m speaking,” he growled in irritation. Did they think he was one of those ‘special’ kids? It seemed so, the way they were talking to him. “Good to know…” he muttered when one made claim to their…friendliness, he supposed?

Of course, Gene wasn’t perceptive enough to realize that they thought he was a ghost. After all, ghosts weren’t real, so what else would he be?

He quirked an eyebrow that the question. Why was he here? Well… Gene stared at them, then turned his eyes upward slightly as he recalled the events of just a couple hours prior. “My classmates dragged me down here for a prank, then left me behind.” He was only a little bit irritated by that, and the slight red color in his aura gave away that sentiment. “I wanna get out of here and go home already.” Because this whole trip was stupid and had been a waste of his time.

The twins stepped back away from the apparition as it growled at them. Clearly this was a spirit on the verge of becoming vengeful. And the boys didn’t want to stet if off. They weren’t exactly sure how ghosts could hurt a person, but they weren’t exactly itching to find out. At least not from personal experience.

John and Jake shared a look. A prank gone wrong? Was that how this poor boy had died? Judging from his outfit he couldn’t have been a very old ghost. So he must have died recently. Probably his bones were very close by, if they were bones at all at this point. The twins shared a shudder as they both thought of coming across some half decomposed body.

The poor boy just wanted to go home. The brothers’ heart went out to him. Even if they were a little concerned about dealing with a dead body, and even if they were still a little worried about a red, angry ghost, they had to help him.

“Maybe we can…help?” Jake asked. “Let us try.”

“Yeah. Where are your bones?” John asked, getting a rib in his side from his twin for putting it so bluntly.

These kids were acting strange and Gene had a mind to think they were making fun of him again. That there was some joke shared between them that somehow he wasn’t getting. Gene hated that shit. Not that he cared to be let in on any secrets, but being the butt of a joke just wasn’t respectable.

His aura grew a little darker in it’s red color as his irritation grew, though it was still mostly gray and white at this point.

Gene raised an eyebrow, his mood improving slightly upon hearing that they might be able to help him get out of there. Maybe they had a car out front to drive him home with? Or a cell phone would do, then he could just call the maid to come pick him up. The bullies who dragged him there stole his cell phone, the assholes.

But then his face turned to one of pure bemusement and he stared at the pair like they had two heads each, his aura shifting into small whorls of yellow. “My….what?” he asked, just in case he didn’t hear that correctly. "Are you stupid?"
