Ruby can detect the presence of meta humans as far away as one mile when they’re using their abilities, only a few yards away when the user is not using their abilities and she can not sense anything at all if they have yet to manifest. She has be to at least five feet away to tell what they can do however and her ability can get very overwhelming in spaces like Hammel without the occasional retreat. Due to her near constant use of her ability, one she can not turn off and can only dampen with concentration, she tends to be very anxious in Hammel and is on anxiety medication to help even this out.

As a side effect she often finds herself itching, more so when she's around more metas than when she's alone but there's always a lingering tingling.

With practice, she'll eventually be able to control her ability to detect, but for now it's very sporadic.

General Appearance: Ruby is a very bright and chipper girl, and everything about her appearance shows this. From her long rich red hair to her bright smile, Ruby seems to fill the room with energy. She even pretends like she doesn't get those pesky things like acne and bags under her eyes with a healthy lair of make up, sometimes natural, sometimes bright and colorful.

Standing at 5 feet tall, Ruby has a squat body type that is very curvy with a bit of weight. Her ratios are a bit top heavy, but she tries not to draw too much attention to her assets.

Ruby dresses like your usual valley girl, with a huge collection of scarves and ugg boots for the winter and a collection of tanktops and skirts for the summer. More often than not she can be seen accessorizing with a lot of bracelets and necklaces. She's not above trying new things but tends to stay on the preppy end of her fashion sense.

Personality: Ruby is the kind of girl who’s passionate about passion. She doesn’t really care what you do, as long as you put your all into doing it. She is very bubbly and childish, the kind of person who never shows it when she's having a bad day and she never seems to actually dislike most people. She tries to rib at people when she gets the chance to, but she doesn’t have a mean bone in her body and is terrible at insults. (It doesn’t stop her from trying though.) She tends to shrug off insults as jokes even if they're made in a mean spirited manner.

Ruby is a very spontaneous girl who is willing to give almost anything a try at least once. This is both a boon and bane when it comes to dangerous situations. She can usually find something to like in most people.

She loves to write stories when she can’t sleep, however, she has never gotten much criticism in her life so her stories tend to be a bit disjointed and cliché. She also has a huge passion for technology and the gadgets that come with it and hates having to study out of books when there are perfectly good computers to study off of. She hates having to do anything with paper when almost everything can be done digitally anymore.

History

It’s said that the youngest sibling is always the most spoiled and Ruby is a perfect example of this statement. She grew up with a computer technician and a business woman as parents, and was spoon fed technology from the cradle. Where most five year olds got dolls and picture books, Ruby got old computer parts, game systems and blackberries. Where most siblings found unusual and cruel ways to torment one another, Ruby was dotted on by both of her bigger sisters and often acted as a mediator between their fights.

She’s always had quite a few friends at school, easily making them with her outgoing nature and was always happy to discuss the achievements of her siblings and parents.

When she was twelve, she started noticing something strange about one of the girls at her school. She felt attracted to this girl and drawn to her, like destiny was bringing them together. She was flustered by this realization, trying to hide it as best as she could and avoided her. When she expressed this concern to her sister Sapphire, Sapphire told her to just talk to the girl. When she finally approached the girl, she got a sudden blinding flash of knowledge and light, a sensation that told her the girl was not normal. She ran from the situation in fright, heading back home to try and collect herself. She didn’t mention the event to her parents but did mention it to her sisters on the same day it happened, Sapphire in person and Emerald by e-mail. Sapphire was concerned over the story and told he parents, who took her to a psychologist. It took a week for them to get in an appointment. Luckily the psychologist happened to be a meta and contacted Hammel while politely informing the Parker family what was going on. It took only a few days for the association to show up,

In her first few years at Hammel, she tried to run away three times when she became overwhelmed by the presence of so many metas at her school. She finally settled down when she could find a meta-disspeller on the staff to go to when she started getting itchy and when she had at least a few visits with her sisters. She now finds herself in the odd position of having a highly demanded natural skill but a family who prefers classic education achievements.

Minion, it's great to see another character from you, and Ruby looks like she'll be an interesting addition to Hammel, but she requires a couple of changes before she can be accepted.

The first two have to do with her power. 1) We need to check, but when you say "dormant," you mean "not being used" as opposed to "not having yet manifested", yes? Second, you do a great job with limitations, but can you please detail the side effects? Overwhelming would be a natural consequence rather than a side effect.

Next, in her appearance section, you do a great job with her clothing style, her hair, and the like, but you should also include a bit about her body type. Pretend we don't have a picture.

Last, in her history section, how long passed between her first interaction with the girl at school, and when she ended up at the psychiatrist's office? And then, after the psychiatrist contacted Hammel, how long did it take for them to come find her?
