The look on Kit's face confused Kit for a moment. She was used to her being loud and outgoing. The look of almost uncertainty... well, it passed soon enough, but it still left Joelle wondering what was going on in her mind that would make her do that.
But Kit was excellent at changing tracks, and Jo was happy to go along with it. If it was something major, she trusted that she'd tell her when she was ready. Wasn't that what besties were for? She'd already spilled one of her biggest secrets to Kit, and she'd witnessed another when she'd first entered her room. Hopefully Kit could trust her as much as she had placed her trust in the older girl.
"I think you're probably pretty good at a lot of stuff, Kit. Amazing, really." The list was only growing, and that was only in one afternoon. She couldn't imagine how much she could learn about Kit the longer they hung out.
She made a face as the shower cap went on, knowing full well that she probably looked like a giant dork with it on. But it was worth it, if it turned out as well as Kit seemed to think it would. She was excited to see it when it was done and dry. "So all the extra dye just washes out? And the other stuff just... sticks?" She'd have to forgive her, being a dye-virgin and all. As for leaving it in... well, she could probably handle keeping it on all night. If it got to be trouble, she'd just go and have a really quick shower.
And there went that look on Kit's face again. Something was going on, but she wasn't sure how to go about asking her. She'd been so nice to her, and she wanted to help if something was bothering her... and hopefully it wasn't Joelle herself that was bothering her. She didn't think that was the case with Kit, but you never knew.
But then her phone went, and she glanced down at it, a smile lighting up her face. More success! Swiping her finger across the screen, she tapped out a return message.
6:30 at the parking lot is perfect too. See you then!
Good lord she was giddy, but she couldn't help it. She had a date, and she had a new best friend. What else could go right?
