Powers: Shadow Manipulation - Grayson has the ability to manipulate shadows. Grayson has a radius of at about thirty feet for him to manipulate. It is easier for Grayson to manipulate if he is touching the shadow he wants to manipulate. He can make a shadow longer or shorter. He can make a shadow sharper or softer around the edges. He can also make shapes out of the shadows. Grayson also has the ability to blend into shadows. The side effects Grayson get from his shadow manipulation are insomnia and terrible headaches. When Grayson does manage to get to sleep, no one should wake unless it is a life and death situation. Grayson isn't a pleasant person when he first was up.

General Appearance: Grayson is 5 feet and 9 inches tall. Grayson's long legs give Gray long strides when he walks. His long arms make it easy for him to reach things on the top shelf. His fingers are musical skilled to play the violin. Across his broad shoulders Gray has a dragon ouroboros tattoo. Grayson's facial features are sharp and strong. His dark brown eyes are tense. Gray's hair falls into his eyes and covers the back of his neck.
As for wardrobe Grayson has sloppy looking clothes to neat looking clothes. His sloppy clothes consist of faded jeans, t-shirts with worn spots, and old beaten up sneakers. Gray generally wears these clothes on the weekend or if he is doing a project and doesn't want to ruin his neat clothes. His neat clothes have slacks, button down shirts, and dress shoes. He would wear his nest clothes during work or if he is going somewhere where he needs to look nice.
Personality: Grayson is a strong independent young man. Grayson had live by himself since he was eighteen, so he had learn about being responsible and being independent. He is good at problem solving. He has a logical way of thinking out answers. He also can think creatively to find an answers to find a solution. He Grayson isn't afraid to step up and take leadership. He able to compromise and leave people through a project to get it done. The only thing that Grayson can't manage well his his finances. No matter how many different methods to manage his finances he never seems to have enough money and struggles to pay the bills.
Besides his strong side, Grayson is also a big soft teddy bear. He is very caring. He takes care of the people around. In a nurturing environment Grayson shines, whether he receiving the nurture or he giving the nurture to someone. When in a relationship, Gray is a sweetheart. He will make sure his special someone knows how special she/he is to Gray.
Grayson is someone who you would want to avoid when he first wakes up. Grayson is not a pleasant person when he wakes up. Because of his powers it makes it hard for him to fall asleep and then stay asleep. He has a very short fuse and will snap at the close person to him. If anyone had to wake Grayson up it better be a life or death situation or wise leave the man be until he wakes up.

He was born on March 2nd, 1989 to Ryuto Tanaka and Mei Tanaka. Grayson was a healthy baby boy. He lived in Kyoto, Japan. A month after Grayson was born his father walked out on him and his mother. After that Grayson's mother took back her maiden name, Habiki, and also gave it to Grayson. Grayson continued growing up not knowing whom his father was. Grayson didn't retain any memories of his father because Gray was too young.
As the years went on Gray's mother started to date an American man named Samuel Knight. Grayson met Samuel a few times while his mother was dating him. Gray was 5 years old when his mother and Samuel got married. Gray had gained a stepfather and younger stepbrother named Alexander. Gray was quite happy with having a brother who was close in age. The new family continued living in Kyoto, Japan. A year later the Knight family moved to Samuel's mansion in the United States of America. Grayson's name changed when he moved to America and enrolled in school. His name went from Ryusei Habiki to Grayson Knight. Samuel was the one who gave the name Grayson to him.
The move was hard on Grayson between the whole process of packing, the plane ride to Los Angels, and settling in Samuel's mansion. There was many rules that Grayson had to follow. There were certain rooms that Grayson wasn't allowed in. There was no running. And many other rules. Grayson had his stepbrother, Alex, to play with. Having his little brother did make the move a little easier on Grayson to have someone who was close to his age. Besides all the rules, living in a mansion gave Grayson plenty of space to go exploring.
School was not one of Gray's favorite things. He only spoke Japanese at the time, which made going to school and making friends difficult. Grayson was the quiet kid who got out casted. It was simply because he could not communicate. As Gray's English improved things got easier for Grayson at school. His grades started to go up. He started to make friends. School was still not one of his favorite places to go.
The next big change in Grayson's life was when his new baby half-sister came home. Grayson was six years old when he became a big brother to a sister. To Grayson having a little sister meant that he had someone else to play with in the huge house.
Once again, Grayson had another big change in his life. It was a few months after his thirteenth birthday shadows around Grayson didn't seem right. He couldn't figure it out, but sometimes the shadows would move when Grayson was around. They didn't move like a shadow of a tree being blown in the window. The shadow would grow bigger or smaller. Grayson knew for certain that something wasn't right about him was when he stood in a shadow people couldn't see him. It was like Gray was blending in with the shadow. About two weeks later someone came by the mansion. The stranger said that he was from the Hammel Institute and that Grayson was a meta-human.
The next thing Grayson knew was that he was being sent to the Hammel Institute in Pilot Ridge, Vermont. Life was different from living in the busy city of Los Angels. In Pilot Ridge things were slower, more spaced out, and had clean fresh air.
While at Hammel, Grayson spent a lot of time with is shadow trainer. His trainer was a big help. Grayson was learning control and how to use his shadow manipulation and shadow walking. The side effects weren't as big of a toll on Grayson like they were when Gray was first starting his training.
Grayson was part of the Class of 2007. His time at the Hammel Institute was done. He had his high school diploma and excellent control over his powers. The side effects didn't have such a toll on Grayson with the exception of the insomnia. Gray's plan wasn't go to college like many of his peers. Grayson was going to a take a year off and work. After that he would go to college with the money he had earned. In the mean time, Grayson was on his way back to L.A. to see his family.
He had gotten used to the quiet and fresh air of Pilot Ridge. He forgot about the busy and loudness of Los Angels. Grayson was happy to see his mother again. But things were awkward when he came home. Yes, his mother was happy to see her son again, but there was a distance between them. There was a distance between him and his two siblings, who were both in high school. Grayson didn't feel like he belongs anymore. He stayed at home for six months. During those six month Gray found himself a job a department store.
After six months, Grayson want to live on his own. He had lived in Kyoto, Japan and had no clear memory of Kyoto, Los Angels, California, and in Pilot Ridge, Vermont. There was a whole country between L.A. and Pilot Ridge. And Grayson wanted to see that country. Grayson legally changed his name to Grayson Sato to keep his Japanese heritage. He took what little money he had and the essentials and set out to see America. Eight years Grayson was on the road. During those eight years, Gray had worked many different jobs. He worked everything from being a garbage man, to waiting on table, to running the drive through, to washing dishes, and many other jobs.
Towards the end of those eight years, Grayson found himself back at Pilot Ridge, Vermont. Grayson went to stop by the Hammel Institute to visit old teachers and to see how Hammel had changed from when he went to school there. In his reminiscing of his high school days, Grayson had applied for a job at Hammel to be a dorm monitor.
His application was accepted and Grayson started his life at Hammel again. But this time he was a dorm monitor rather than a student. He had settled in. Grayson had gotten himself a roommate. Grayson's roommate was a gerbil named George.Roleplay ExampleGrayson finally got settled in. He was starting his second life at Hammel. It felt good to be back in some familiar territory. It did feel a little weird to Grayson. To be a staff member instead of a student. It was going to take a little bit before the weirdness would wear off. When Grayson was student, he didn't think that he would end up getting a job at the school he went to. Now it was his turn to help the current students get through their school days. Grayson looked around his new room. It was most certainly weird but right. He picked up the notes that the other dorm monitors left for him. Notes were on which students to keep a close eye on.
Gray was tried. He didn't get very much sleep in the past few days. Maybe ,since he was in familiar territory, sleep would come to him easier. Perhaps he would try to take a nap. He turned on some classical music. Grayson made himself comfortable on the couch to take a quick nap. He closed his eyes when there was a knock on his door. He groaned.
