The BasicsName: Iris Samantha Applegate
Nicknames: The Human Glowstick, Sam, Iris, etc...
Age: 18
Orientation: Pansexual
Desired Rank/Job: Hammel Student.
Powers: Light Manipulation and Bioluminescence
Sam has the ability to manipulate light; for example, the ability to create rainbows and redirect light rays into peoples' faces. Sam is good at this since it requires more concentration and effort to master than her other ability and so she put more time into it. The side-effects include poor night-vision and sensitivity to natural light.
She also has the ability to glow in the dark, and although she can make herself flash for about 10 seconds of light, Sam occasionally flashes in anger or surprise and tends to glow in the dark whether she wants to or not which can make it difficult to sleep. Her luminensce is about as bright as a newly cracked glowstick but tends to increase or decrease in brightness depending on her mood. The side-effects can include luminescent sweat, insomnia, and a tendency to attract insects.

General Appearance:
Iris looks slightly older than her actual age and used to embrace this when she was younger; before she realized that this meant people expected more from her. She has a pale complexion but wears a very light amount of make-up to make her pink lips and dark hazel eyes stand out a bit more. Iris has long reddish-brown hair that curls slightly around her her face.
She stands at around 5'7 and is fairly skinny; Iris was and still is a picky eater. However, her arms and legs have lean muscles from wrestling with her brothers when they were younger so she can pack a powerful punch. Iris has also become quite flexible, increasing her hypermobility (inherited from her parents) by doing yoga with her mother before coming to Hammel.
Usually, Iris wears a black and white top; either a striped tank-top or a black blouse; and denim shorts or jeans depending on how cold or warm it is. In formal events or when she just wants to look nice, Iris enjoys wearing a spotted down town dress that her mother once bought her. During wet or very cold days, she wears a navy-blue duffle coat with a white-furred hood.
Personality:
Iris is fairly childish for her age; falling back to sticking her tongue out at people when they annoy her instead of using logical reasoning. This infantile behavior can make her seem a bit innocent, so it always surprises people when she makes suggestive comments or jokes. Iris is surprisingly dirty-minded though she usually keeps this to herself until she is comfortable with the person she is with; roughly after five minutes. The brunette has no sense of personal space, no hand-shake for you! Have a hug instead.
Iris can be very trusting which is both a bad and a good thing. The good thing is that she can always make people in confide in her, the bad thing is that she always confides in people. Though this is more gullible than naive, it can be hard to see Iris as the sort that understands to world; so it can be a bit of a shock when Iris gives some incredibly rare useful advice. Usually her advice is very basic, "don't stick a fork in the toaster".
Iris can be lazy sometimes, due to her insomnia. This has led to her developing a rather laid-back attitude to most things; especially about classes. The brunette usually skips morning classes, asking for extra work near the end of the day to make up for the time she lost.
Although she isn't usually the fighting type, when Iris gets mad, she gets mad. Instead of giving someone a fist to the face, the brunette will simply flash them with incredibly bright lights until they are dizzy and disorientated. If that doesn't work, her mouth can unleash a hell load of venom.Your VicesLikes:

Before they were born, her mother, Elizabeth, and her father, Greg, were struggling to have children. In hopes of increasing her chances of becoming pregnant, Elizabeth was prescribed with fertility drugs by her doctor. Needless to say they worked, only a bit too well. Her mother ended up giving birth to four children, three boys and a girl. The pregnancy was a worried time, both Elizabeth and Greg worried for the safety of their unborn children since multiple births could potentially end with still-borns. The labour was stressful and the birth was difficult and took well over 24 hours; thankfully, her mother managed to survive it, exhausted but still alive. Iris was the smallest of the four but she was the loudest; hollering her lungs out until she fell asleep.
By god, the toddler stage. During infancy, Iris was the loudest, Ryan was the most curious, Jayden was very quiet but greedy and Jordan was almost always asleep. When they were toddlers, this only got worse. All four were inseparable but Iris and Ryan were the worst; Iris's devious nature and Ryan's curiosity got them into trouble at least five times a day. Jayden and Jordan would follow and get up to mischief as well but Jayden could be tempted to stay still with food and Jordan would sort of... fall asleep wherever he could. When Elizabeth and Greg finally found Iris and Ryan, they would try to distract them with safe toys and games so they wouldn't go causing any havoc.
Middle school and high school were the same but different. The quadruplets were fairly popular; at the very least, they were a common topic of the school. The interest stemmed from the four being quadruplets but only escalated when Iris and Ryan accidentally set fire to one of the tables during a science class. Iris still blamed Ryan for the fire, and he still blamed her for it. Jayden became known as the Human Hoover and the lunch ladies always ended up chasing him away from the cafeteria since he usually lurked around, waiting for people to give him free food. Jordan was just Jordan, but he was smart, especially when he wasn't sleeping.
The four tended to stick together though, even when they had arguments over tv channels and what superhero was the best. They argued like angry sparrows but still remained close.
Iris developed her meta-ability when she was fourteen during a holiday; her brother Jordan also developed an ability a few months after her. She and Jayden were playing a video-game in the living room, Ryan quietly doing his homework and Jordan was watching them at a rare awake moment. The sun's glare landed directly on Iris face, much to her annoyance, and the other seats were taken up by her siblings.
Trying to block the glare with a hand, Iris squinted as she tried to make out whether that was an alien or a soldier on her playing screen. Two clear, and one muffled with food, gasps ran out as the light flickered away from her eyes but Iris didn't know why. She risked a short glance away from the tv screen, well aware that Jayden enjoys using tricks to get his way in games, only to drop her controller as she saw the sunlight that had hit her face had bent into another direction mid-way.
Iris glanced at her brothers, an instinctive response to strange/scary things, before staring at the light again. Concentrating, Iris flicked her hands towards Jordan, who was lying on the sofa, with such force that she toppled side-ways and fell off her side of the sofa. The light wavered slightly before bending towards Jordan; flashing him in the face. Jordan grumbled at this irritating phenomena and rolled off his perch, Ryan stared at Iris with wide eyes and Jayden sprayed crisp crumbs everywhere.
The four got up and found their parents; explaining what had happened. Elizabeth and Greg were certainly interested but were still very worried, as most parents would be. Thankfully, Hammel shortly after found Iris. It was decided that she would transfer after the holidays were over, in roughly two weeks.
Having never been separated from her brothers before, Iris was very scared of moving schools and refused to leave her bedroom for two days. The thought of being alone in a school terrified her. Thankfully, Ryan managed to get her to see the logical side of the transfer and made her see reason. It wasn't as if they were going to forget about her. That same night was also the night Iris discovered her bioluminensce; a very loud curse word rang throughout the house when she discovered her fire-fly resemblance.
Even though Ryan spoke truthfully, the rest of the family were scared of Iris leaving as well. They had always been tight-knit, even when Jayden, Jordan and Ryan got in a scuffle over things. It was decided shortly after that they would move to Vermont as well. However, it would take some time before the move was finalized and Iris would still have too spend a good few months at the school alone. But it seemed less scary now so Iris grouchily agreed to go.
Iris moved into one of the dorm rooms and slowly began to get along with the rest of the students, developing her abilities more and more with training. Soon enough, she was able to strengthen one colour of the spectrum into a visible beam. At least that's what her trainer said, she could basically turn her finger into a laser pointer.
Her family moved into a three bed-roomed house within Pilot Ridge, Jordan joining her in the dorms when he also developed an ability during the last month of the moving plan; Tactile Anesthesia. It was so suiting for Jordan, earning him the affectionate nick-name Pillow Boy. At least until he put the name-caller to sleep, before promptly falling asleep himself. Iris also earned a nickname due to her light-green nightglow, the Human Glowstick. Ryan and Jayden attended a human school but tried to hang around with Iris and Jordan at Hammel as much as possible.
During the last couple of years, Iris had been studying biology; hoping to become a doctor for metas, if there was such a thing; and has been practicing her abilities.Roleplay ExampleIris clapped down the silver lid of her laptop with a light 'tap' before flopping onto her back, the soft covers of her bed coiling around her slim frame. Her dark gaze drifted over the white feathers of one of her dream catchers before flicking to the specks of light that bounced off the crystal wind chime which hung beside her window. Pursuing her lips, she then blew a raspberry.
Why didn't Ryan understand that Speed Stingers were the best dragon? That quadruplet was so hung up about how awesome Nightmares were. They were cool but c'mon, tiny raptors are the best. Iris propped herself up on her elbows before shoving herself back into a sitting position. She glanced around her room again; it was oddly quiet without Ryan or Jordan or Jayden running up to bang on her door bout something. It was still strange, even after all these years.
The brunette jumped off her bed, a loud thud echoing as she landed. Ryan had emailed her, saying he was going to charge over with a whole set of diagrams and flowcharts on why Monstrous Nightmare's were the best dragons. Small arguments like this were a common occurrence around Iris. But they were enjoyable, especially when she won them.
"Just wait until he sees my slideshow of Speed Stingers." She grinned malevolently, rubbing her hands together in delightful glee before starting to set up her side of the argument. What About You?Name: Pastel or Python is good.
