Time Warp: Pin feathers and Pixie dust (Grady)

College, oh how Caelum loved college. If by love you mean you'd really rather be doing anything else, like having facial reconstructive surgery with no anesthetics. Well, he didn't really think it was that bad, but having to write very long papers on a weekend was just cruel. After a good fifteen minutes of trying, Caelum jumped from his desk and headed out as quickly as he could into Pilot Ridge. He knew exactly where he was going, but first to get a giant tub of a very certain ice cream flavor. 

After which, he let his legs carry him the rest of the way to Hammel. Normally he would have flown, but he was on a mission. A mission to surprise his sister Gwen with a hug and ice cream. That and to see how she was of course. He didn't worry so much about Bella, even though they were twins, because she always seemed the more outgoing one. Not to mention they were his sisters and he loved them dearly. 

It didn't take him long to find his old campus, and was happy to see it buzzing with realitively happy students as usual. Now, to find his sister. Caelum knew what room she was in, in fact it was only a few doors down from where his own used to be. As silently as he could, he snuck closer to the door. With a big grin on his face he banged loudly and cried out. "Yo Gwen Gwen, it's your favorite and bestest big brother ever!" Naturally hoping she'd be in otherwise the tube of brownie batter ice cream would go bad.

Gwen was not doing well at school. He (he had been thinking of himself as a "he" for a while now even though he still thought of himself as "Gwen") had been struggling with his gender identity and hiding it from most of the world. The only person he had told was his twin sister, Bella. And though she had been amazing and continued to let him vent and be supportive, the secret was starting to eat away at him. And he was sure that some people knew by the way they were looking at him. And the slurs they muttered behind his back. Probably some telepath had been in his head and spread the word. Or maybe they'd figure it out by the way he was dressing. He hadn't been exactly femininely dressed lately. And though he still had his long hair, he'd recenlty started shoving it underneath a hat. He wasn't sure how he felt about cutting it, but he knew he wanted to do something to it. Maybe dreads? He'd even been trying to talk lower and bought a binder with his birthday money. He only wore it some days, but when he did there were times he caught his reflection in the mirror and thought "There I am!".

But today Gwen was excited because he had saved for weeks and bought his first packer. One the way back to his dorm from class he had discovered he had a package and couldn't wait to get back to his room to open it behind the safety of a closed door. As he ran back to his room, he realized this was the first time he'd grinned like this in a while. Things could get better, right? Even if he had to keep this secret at least there were little things he could to to make himself feel more comfortable with his body. It could work, right?

Once there, he'd thrown down his books and tore open the box. And just as he did, he heard his brother call out. "Uh...just a second," Gwen called out, rushing about his room to clean up things, hide any evidence. He closed the notebook on his desk of the list of names he was considering and tossed the box with his packer in it under the bed.

With one last glance around the room, he went to the door, tossed his hat onto his bed and let his head down, and opened the door for Caelum. "Hi!" he said. And while he was pleasantly surprised to see his big brother (and his favorite sibling apart from Bella) he was a little upset about the timing. And nervous...well because these days it seemed Gwen was always nervous. "Whatcha doin here?"

Caelum leaned against the door frame as he waited for it to open. It wasn't that he was impatient, but he just didn't enjoy standing still. When her voice rang out from inside, he perked up. Straightening up, he took a step away from the door and hide the ice cream behind his back. It was supposed to be a surprise after all. For a brief moment, Caelum had a moment of panic, because he wasn't sure if he had taken his medication that morning. It wasn't that Gwen didn't know, but he didn't want to slip into one of his "moments" around her. Right as the door opened it hit him that he had indeed and plastered on the biggest grin he could manage.

Tilting his head, he chuckled at her. She seemed nervous about something, but that was probably just him over annalyzing her. It was his chosen profession after all. Well, what he was going to school for anyway. "Can't a guy just come see how his little sister is adjusting to school?"

He took a step closer and waited for his invitation inside. "Besides, I need someone to eat this with." With that, he produced the bucket of icecream from behind his back and wiggled it in her face. "Its your faaaaavorite." Again Caelum chuckled, being his goofy self, as usual.
