Sunny Adams was not a daylight sort of person and couldn't help but be thankful for the early sunsets during the winter. Sure, it tended to be colder, but that was what black jackets like the one she was wearing were for (and Sunny was a girl who never found herself in need of more black in her wardrobe). And sure it made her octopus earrings a bit uncomfortable, but she was willing to suffer for odd fashion. Unfortunately, most businesses int he small town of Pilot Ridge were only open during the daylight hours and the woman needed them to, you know, not starve. This on top of her school work kept her procrastinating until well into the evening for anything she needed.
Today had started off as a light snow but only seemed to get worse as time went on. Sunny was certain she would have time to stop for all of her errands for the day, but the ever increasing snowfall was enough to make her have her doubts. She decided it would be best to fill her tank, just in case she got stuck on the road and needed the heater to keep alive.
A slight breeze nipped at her bare hands while she filled her car's tank at the gas station, a small establishment that was the latest in a long line of shady but cheap gas stations on this corner. The place only had four pumps, but it really didn't need more in such a remote location and the owner seemed to get by well enough on the cheap beer and burritos he sold inside.
Cheap burritos happened to be Sunny's favorite study food and were enough to lure her inside with a casual saunter after she filled up her car. The place was mostly empty, thanks to the saner folks remaining at home, though a bored clerk lazily greeted her when she entered.
The storm outside continued to build despite the wishes of all inside.
