Step On The Crack, Break Someone's Back (open)

Katy rubbed at her forehead with one hand, the other rested on a pile of papers that lay messily sprawled across her desk. Thankfully, there had been no serious injuries since her time at Hammel; even though the substitute doctor had been over-joyed to leave when Katy arrived. Understandable, metas weren't exactly the safest of people, herself included.

The brunette raised her hand and turned it over to stare at her palm; a slight twinge and a subtle flex later, a sharpened shard of bone at least three inches long protruded from the back of her wrist. Katy turned her hand over to study the slightly jagged bone shard out of boredom. With a tired sigh, she stood up; only to slip on the paneled flooring, the strong bone scraping the papers, knocking over a cup of coffee onto the surviving papers and puncturing her laptop screen.

"Bugger me." She grunted as she scrambled back to her feet, the bone sliding back into her wrist with a quiet 'shhk', only a small exit wound remaining. Katy grumbled to herself as she spotted the mess she had caused; as stated before, metas weren't the safest people. She managed to mop up the coffee spillage and was about to sort out the shattered monitor when there was a knock at the door.

Wiping her hands on her shirt, Katy headed over to the door and opened it; raising an eyebrow at who stood before her...

A technopath plus dodge ball equaled nothing good. Kingston was sent from gym class to the doctor's office with a bloody nose. Apparently, the rule of no head shots was ignored and Kingston was the poor soul who was the victim. King's focus was on a dodge ball that just narrowly missed him. When he changed his focus, he saw another dodge ball coming at him. The next thing Kingston saw was stars. The stars went away pretty quickly but the blood continued. He walked through the halls to the school's doctor with a wad of tissues to stop the blood.

He arrived and stood outside the door. Both his hands were holding the tissues so, he couldn't knock or open the door. Maybe knocking would be better in case the doctor was seeing someone. Kingston was going to knock on the door with his foot when the door opened. Kingston stood face to face with the school doctor. "Um," Kingston could feel the wetness of his blood on the tissues, "my nose is bleeding."

Katy remained quiet for a while as the student spoke, observing the student and what could ail him. Well... it was pretty obvious. Especially with the blood spurting from his nose. Katy still remained silent even after the student finished speaking, you could practically hear her brain whirring. 

"...I thought my nose was bleeding..." She spoke slowly, her accent echoing through each word. "But its snot."

Before the student could laugh at her immortal wit, Katy turned around and went back into the infirmary; gesturing for him to sit down in one of the chairs. Thankfully, nosebleeds were easy to deal with. Almost too easy... Katy grabbed a filled ice tray and sat down in a chair opposite the one she gestured to. With her forefinger and thumb, she pinched the fleshy part of her nose, blocking her nostrils. "Pinch your node like dis." She spoke, her voice sounding strange and nasally.

Kingston was totally oblivious to Dr. Sherlock’s humor. He didn’t register a joke was even said. He followed Dr. Sherlock into the office. He took the seat she had gestured to. Kingston pinched his nose like instructed. King sat there with his mouth hanging open so he could breathe. King wasn’t sure when the bleed would stop but he hoped soon.

His eyes keep moving around the room. He wasn’t sure how he liked the doctor watching him. King wasn’t sure when the bleeding would stop but he hoped soon, so he could leave.

Katy waited a few minutes before speaking again, handing the boy the ice tray before walking over to her laptop and sitting on the fun spinny chair. She wrote about each injury in a short report since it made it easier to keep track of who hurt who and which kid punched the window.

"When your nose stops bleeding, put an ice cube in your mouth." Katy said, hurriedly writing up what the symptoms were (a bloody nosebleed) before realizing that he might question why. Some kids were always curious or were just skeptical and demanded to know why they should do something. "The cold will lessen the blood flow and give the wound some time to close over." She said, glancing away from her laptop to the student.

"What's your name and how did your nose became a face peri-" Katy hurriedly stopped herself. The other teachers told her that some things you shouldn't say to students. "How did your nose become... bloody?" She asked, forgetting that she requested the student to put ice in his mouth.

Kingston took the ice tray from Dr. Sherlock. He didn’t get why she handed him the tray, but he didn’t ask questions. Kingston watched as Dr. Sherlock went over to her computer.

He took away the wad of tissues from nose to check if it was still bleeding. The bleeding totally slowed. He put the ice cube in his mouth like he was instructed. He got up to throw away the tissues. King took his seat again.

After a few moments Kingston’s mouth was really cold. He held the ice cube between his teeth in hopes he could warm his mouth up some. Kingston pushed the ice cube against his cheek so he could speak. “We were playing dodge ball in gym class.” He switched the ice cube to the other cheek. “I got hit in the face.”

Katy sighed at the first mention of dodgeball. Almost all school-related injuries came from the P.E teachers; she would have to have stern words with the next one she saw. Though, there are some that come from science, usually when one kid swallows something they shouldn't - like magnesium.

"I swear, those PE teachers are obsessed with their balls." She muttered, unaware of the possible double meaning in her words.

Katy raised an eyebrow to herself at the 'getting hit in the face part though'. Wasn't the whole point of dodgeball being able to dodge the ball? Oh well, she wasn't exactly the most agile or fastest student in her school either. The doctor sighed and gently pushed at the monitor as it glitched slightly; the pixels realigning despite the broken screen. She would get it fixed after school.

"Has the bleeding gone down?" She asked over her shoulder.

Kingston's mouth was numbed with coldness. The ice cube was about half way through melting. Hopefully Kingston didn't need another ice cube. Kingston wiped his nose with the back of his hand. There was some blood. The blood flow definitely slowed down. "Yes," King answered.

He poked around his nose. His nose was tender. Most likely King was going to have sore nose for few days.

Katy swiveled her chair to face the student, studying him. The wound didn't seem to be anything serious since he was still walking upright. Nose bleeds were common in disastrous PE lessons.

The doctor felt a twinge of irritation - she was really going to have a word with one of those teachers. She might be a doctor but that doesn't mean they needed to put any effort into sending students to her.

"Do you think you can go back to class?" She asked. Even if Katy couldn't see any problems, it is always best to ask the patient themselves how they feel. After all, she won't be able to detect a throbbing in the skull just by looking at a person.

The ice cube had melted. Kingston exhaled through his mouth to warm it back up. Besides his cold mouth and sore nose Kingston was feeling good. He didn’t have any other aches or pains. No reason to not to go back to class. “Yes.”

Kingston got up and headed to the door. “Thank you,” he said before he left.
