A small scar on his left forearm from a fight when he was fifteen.
General Appearance: Charlie’s thin, long face is accentuated by his high cheekbones and large forehead. His brown eyes have a slight almond shape, and are a bit small in comparison. While prescribed glasses, he often prefers to wear contacts; however, from time to time he wear them, albeit for fashion purposes. After years of recreational and competitive tennis and fencing, he has developed lean muscle on an otherwise slender build. He stands at an impressive 6”1”; yet, he is still the shortest male in his family.
Enjoying fashion, Charlie changes his appearance often, not being content to stick to a particular style. Even his hairstyle changes nearly every month, although he never dyes it as it is too hard to maintain. Whatever he is wearing, from eccentric to classic, he always wears a simple gold ring on a chain around his neck, his grandmother’s wedding band. However, he conceals it under his shirt to keep it out of sight.
While going through puberty later than most of his peers, his body made up for the lost time by producing an abundance of stubble daily. However, he tends to shave it before it is noticeable as it is irritating against his sensitive skin, which is also prone to breakouts.
His animated personality is apparent in his facial expressions and gestures, as he often makes silly faces and dramatic hand gestures while talking. Even during his theatrics, he exudes a sense of composure and confidence, pulling of his eccentricities with ease.
Personality: Charlie is the type that can swindle the shirt off a beggar, possessing charisma and confidence as well as a tendency to manipulate others for his benefit. His intents aren’t usually malicious, rather the results of egocentrism created by lavish and affluent lifestyle his parents provided. However, he isn’t aware of impact of his background on his perspective, and can be quite insensitive and ignorant on matters concerning money or needs. Despite this, he can be very generous with his money, but to the point that he can make others feel uncomfortable.
He is the textbook book definition of extroverted, enjoying large crowds and parties, knowing and being known by everyone in a room, and becoming energized when socializing with friends and strangers alike. He is known to be extremely likable, friendly and approachable, witty, and dynamic. An eloquently skilled public speaker, Charlie enjoys being in the spotlight and in leadership positions. However, he is not a capable leader. Although he has the charisma to convince people to follow him, he lacks the patience and organization skills to follow through. He struggles sitting still and focusing on one task at time, leading to mediocracy in school; yet, working and behaving well enough to avoid failure or expulsion.
With his everyone's bestfriend attitude, it is difficult to imagine Charlie being anything but friendly, but truly he is easy to slight and slow to forgive. Those he holds grudges with will be met with glacial content, but he is not bellicose. He would rather throw around a couple hostile words or spiteful jeers than a fist, but still doesn't turn the other cheek if he is attacked.
Most of his banter includes a bit of flirtation, regardless of his attraction or lack thereof towards the recipient and indifferent of their gender or sexual orientation. While he intents it to be playful teasing, he stops respectfully if asked or senses he has overstepped boundaries; yet, if he receives reciprocated interest he might begin to make romantic advancements. He has no interest in a serious relationships, however. Having lost faith in committed relationship through witnessing his own parents failed marriage at a young age, he becomes restless and anxious as a relationship progresses and often breaks them off before they can develop further.
Actively going out of his way to contradict conventions, directions, and advice, he can be described as obstinate or perverse, but Charlie prefers the term free spirited. However, to most it is obvious that his “eccentricities”, while amusing, are shallow theatrics rather than inherent to his personality. Rebelling against his traditional and starch upbringing, he takes pleasure in disrupting the status quo, but always lacking commitment in his professed convictions. He does, however, possess creativity and the ability to think out of the box when solving difficult situations.
Having experienced few true hardships in his life, Charlie has a optimistic perspective on life; yet, paradoxically has a nihilistic streak to his behaviors and attitudes. Since his family has provided a safety net to protect him from the consequences of his actions, he has lived a fairly carefree life despite his reckless live-in-the-moment attitude. And often he acts or speaks without consideration of other's feelings, putting his own wishes and wants above others'.Your VicesLikes:

Until the age of seven he spent the majority of his time at his grandmother’s house on the Chesapeake Bay while his parents worked in Baltimore as attorneys at competing law firms. This already sowed the seeds to the collapse of their marriage, the two renowned for their ambition and ruthlessness; however, Charlie remained ignorant of his parent’s marital disputes and instead the years he lived in Maryland were filled with memories of fishing, swimming, and baking with his grandmother who practically reared him on her own. Still, his distrust of relationships and marriage began to form, as his grandmother recounted tales of her adulterous husband and often swore his name when she got angry or injured.
From the ages of five to seven, Charlie was educated by his grandmother at home, but she was a rather lenient teacher and allowed him to have many “lessons” outside exploring rather than following a structured plan. He was the apple of her eye, and as a result she ignored many of his indiscretions and gave in to many of his whims. However, as a supplement to his informal education, his parents hired a tutor to teach him the basis of a classical education, the trivium of grammar, logic, and rhetoric as well as basic Latin, Greek, and piano. A trainer would also come by every Saturday for a private tennis lesson, even though he detested the sport. Worried that he wasn’t getting enough socializing, his grandmother took him into town at least once a week, not only to go to the salon and shop, but also attend meetings of her sewing club, where his love of fashion cultivated and his extroverted personality bloomed. At one such event he gave his first speech at the age of seven and never before felt as confident and grown up in his life.
Everything changed during his mother’s second pregnancy when he was seven. She had just received an American consul position in Germany, and Charlie lamented the thought of leaving his little paradise in the Chesapeake Bay with his grandmother and the women of the sewing club who treated him as one of their own grandsons. However, the blow was softened when he discovered that his grandmother would live with them in Tuebingen. Before the family could relocate to Germany, his mother’s affair with Yannick Bauer, a physics professor at the University of Baltimore, was discovered by his father and the realization that the child she bore wasn’t his added insult to injury and he demanded a speedy divorce.
The separated couple quickly remarried, and had children with their new spouses, Charlie finding himself the older brother of two half-sisters and a half-brother in a period of three years. Regardless of how much time has past, however, the two could never reconcile and were unable to even be in the same room, even during their son’s birthdays Charlie’s relationship with his father deteriorated as he moved with his mother and grandmother to Tuebingen to live with her new husband as she worked in the American consulate office there for the next seven years.
Life in Tuebingen differed greatly from the Chesapeake, the most obvious difference being the change of language. It only took him a couple of years to understand conversational German, however, because he attended school, for the first time, at Ludwig-Krapf-Schule. During his primary school days, he was able to form a large friend group despite the language barrier, and the liberal culture of the university town prevented him from experiencing significant racial or xenophobic discrimination. His grandmother was less impressed with their new home, having lost most of her friendships in the move and having a more difficulties in connecting with the few older women and men in the youthful town. However, although he spent most of his weekdays at school or in fencing lessons, the weekends still belonged to her, and the two explored the town, enjoying the variety of cultural events sponsored by the town from chocolate festivals to their annual poled boat race. These idyllic years were transient, however.
In his last year of primary school was marred with tragedy with the death of his grandmother when he was ten. On her deathbed she gave him her wedding band, which she kept despite her difficult marriage, handing it to him without uttering a word before passing away a couple of hours later. Even as he aged he didn’t understand her intentions, whether it just a memento of sentimentality or had a deeper significance, but he has kept it on a chain around his neck ever since. His sisters, who were three and one, were too young to mourn with him, and his mother still too busy, he sought the shoulders of his friends, Felix, Kurt, and Maxine.
While his friends were loyal and supportive, there was a noticeable increase in behavior problems and decrease in academic performance. He would often skip class to pull pranks around town, and occasionally would bully other students he felt had wronged him. While his mother thought they were a bad influence, it was the reverse. Charlie was the instigator, and his silver tongue made it easy to persuade others to join him. While their antics were innocent, he experienced few consequences for his actions other than a brief scolding from his mother or stepfather.
At fourteen, Charlie and his family moved back to the United States, this time settling in Atlanta, Georgia. While previously sheltered from the nastier aspects of life such as racism and homophobia in the small liberal town of Tuebingen and the isolation of living on the Chesapeake Bay, he was exposed to them in abundance in the larger city, even in their affluent neighborhood in Buckhead. The boy was also exposed to more temptations, made attractive by his impulsive and reckless nature. However, before he could get himself in real trouble his powers manifested.
In his new private school in Atlanta, Charlie formed more enemies than ever, even his charm unable to compensate for his distinct otherness in the way he spoke (using German phrases or pronunciations), his below average height, and the often eccentric way he acted or dressed, and as a result he got into verbal and physical fights fairly often. When arguing with one of the boys he disliked outside of school, it was Charlie’s intentions to incite the boy to make him angrier, and he succeeded. Unexpectedly, the boy snapped and began pummeling Charlie, who was much shorter and smaller at the time. It took three other students and a teacher to drag him off, but he had three broken ribs, a fractured wrist, and countless bruises and scratches as a result. When he was taken to the hospital it was discovered that boy’s drastic change in temperament was a result of an ability that Charlie himself didn’t know existed.
His delayed puberty resulted in him beginning Hammel Institute later, becoming a freshmen at the age of fifteen. While his mother made sure to tell him that she loved and accepted him before he left, he felt little homesickness. Other than his grandmother, his ties to his family had always been weak, with his mother and stepfather constantly working, and the age gap between him and his siblings too large. While his father was notified of the manifestation, he refuses to acknowledge it when they talk, and Charlie doesn’t know if an ability will in his younger brother, or if it will ever.
Practically a pro at derooting, he adapted to the environment with ease, once again accumulating groups of friends, as well as creating a few less than amicable relationships; yet, also for the first time experimenting with relationships, albeit short ones. The time between his freshman and sophomore year, Charlie grew almost a foot, going from barely 5’2” to an impressive 6’1”, and also learnt of his interest in men, or rather more accurately his indifference of gender altogether. Although he is open of his sexuality in Hammel and Pilot Ridge, his sexuality remains a secret to his family. Even though he is not ashamed, he realizes that he will not be accepted in his traditional and conservative family. In his first year he went on a dating frenzy, his average relationship lasting barely a month, earning himself a not so stellar reputation. He has slowed down slightly now in his sophomore year, but still is notorious for his blatant flirting.
Additionally, the behaviors such as truancy, pranking, bullying, poor grades, and fighting, which were only punished with a slap of the wrist back home, were more severely punished at Hammel. It was a shock for him to receive the consequences for his actions, which was apparent by his outwardly contempt for those in authority. However, Charlie is beginning to realize that he needs to change, but it wouldn’t take much to revert him back to his old ways.Roleplay ExampleHe felt a prick in his chest, then fell onto his knees... then... then nothing. Only darkness and dreams.
Harsh winds stung his face as he ran through the desert planet, clutching his bleeding stomach as his clothing was stained red. He was being chased by foes he couldn't remember by name or face, but by fear and danger. His face and body was younger then, and less marred by wrinkles and scars earned by a lifetime of a difficult and stressful job. He would earn a few of those marks that day however, as he ran for the ship where a crew was waiting for him.
Shouts and grunts could be heard behind him, but he dared not look behind him as he continued his trek to the ship... only a few yards away now... but it was getting further... why? They were leaving him, departing from the surface and into the sky, a trail of smoke in their wake. It was a sign that the engine needs some repair; he had promised to check up on it before he left, but now they were leaving him. It made no sense.
He felt a hand push down on his shoulder and jagged rock split open his forehead, warm liquid rushing down his face.
Gasping and shouting, he sprung from his laying position and grabbed a woman's wrist, glaring at her with a fury that matched the hot sun from the memory of that day. He had a thousand other nightmares of distorted memories that could he could have dreamed, but that one was especially nasty. It reminded him why people weren't to be trusted.
Regardless, he wasn't sure where he was, but he recognized the woman in front of him slightly. She was the one that appeared before he was tranquilized. He hadn't meant to grab her, but he would use the situation to his advantage. Finding a scalpel on the cart beside him, he held it against her neck.
"Don't scream; don't even speak. Just get me the hell out of here." he slurred his words, the tranquilizer's effects still present. While he meant to be threatening, his expression betrayed his words as he grimaced as his actions put pressure on the wound on his chest. What About You?Name: Remy
