The BasicsName: Rory Delilah Lennox
Nicknames: N/A
Age: 14
Orientation: Heterosexual
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Telepathy
Rory has the ability to read the thoughts of others, as well as share her own. With practice, she will eventually be able to extend her range to hear the thoughts of people several rooms over, though this will only happen with intense concentration. As of right now, she is only able to share her own thoughts through physical contact, but eventually this will not be needed. The thoughts she hears often come across as several whispers, a constant murmur that she needs to focus on to silence. With training, it will become much easier for her to focus on one person’s specific thoughts, even in a room full of people and she will be able to lower the volume of the thoughts she’s hearing and eventually tune them out.
Rory’s ability has several side effects, especially because it is newly manifested. As of right now she has little to no control over her ability. Right now, her migraines and headaches are painful and frequent. They often pop up after a particularly long strain in her ability, mostly when she is trying to grapple for control. Other side effects include hearing a constant murmur of voices, even in complete silence, as well as nosebleeds from overuse.

General Appearance: Since Rory is barely fourteen, she has very fresh looking features, and she looks like she’s at least a year or two younger than she actually is. Her face is round and still babyish looking, although her features are sharpening as she grows older, giving way to higher cheekbones. Her nose is slightly wider, though not exceedingly large and her lips are full. Her eyebrows are are on the thinner side, as she plucks them regularly, and her wide eyes are a very light shade of blue.
She stands at about five feet tall, weighing around around 97 pounds. She is very thin, but despite her young age her muscles are lean and toned from years of intensive dance training. She is still fairly stick straight, although the oncoming of puberty has granted her with some slight curves.
Rory’s hair is a lighter shade of brown, and wavy. It’s very long, almost reaching her her waist and thick. Since her hair is so long, her waves are weighted down by the length, so they are very loose. She usually leaves it down, however, occasionally she’ll feel like doing something different with it and braid it over her shoulder or twist it into a bun. Her skin is olive-toned and naturally tan, although there is a noticeable difference in the winter and summer seasons.
She’s always been known to have a very girly sense of style. She likes dresses and pretty skirts as much as she loves jeans and sweaters. Rory wears a lot of bright colors, especially in the summer time. In the winter, her wardrobe tends to be a bit more muted, but still contains a wide variety of colors. When she’s feeling lazy, or when she’s just coming from dance, she wears a lot of athleisure types of clothes, like leggings and sneakers, etc.
Her makeup on a normal day is light because her parents think she’s still too young to wear too much.. So she usually just wears eyeliner and mascara, sometimes a little bit of eyeshadow. However, because she grew up in the competitive dance world, she’s very good at doing makeup, and knows a variety of techniques.
Personality: For the most part, Rory is like every other fourteen year old girl. She’s loves hanging out with her friends and doing girly things. She’s always been a social butterfly, and makes friends easily wherever she goes. She likes being around people so much that she hates being alone. It makes her feel anxious and lonely; she craves being the center of attention at all times. Like a lot of other young girls she’s also a little boy-crazy, and tends to get all giggly and blush whenever a cute boy comes around.
Rory is highly competitive in everything she does. She has a Type A personality, and everything has to be perfect no matter what, whether it be her dance routines, her grades, or even her room. She always wants to be the best at everything she does, which leads to lot of anxiety because of the pressure she puts on herself. Rory feels like she failed if she didn’t do something absolutely perfect. She often gets snippy with her friends when things don’t go exactly how she wants them to, not in a bratty way, but in the sense that everything needs to be just right. She’s not laid-back at all, and she’ll redo whatever needs to be fixed over and over again until it’s exactly how she wants it to be.
Rory is a very good friend, however, she tends to have a catty side when she gets angry or if someone rubs her the wrong way. She can sometimes be a bit of a mean girl, especially if she feels threatened by someone else. She loves to gossip, and is awful at keeping secrets. She can keep them if she finds out something truly juicy, but only if you beg and grovel on your knees first. She is pretty good at hiding this catty side though, with a bright smile and a sugary sweet personality.
She also can be a little snooty. Even though she comes from a middle class background, her talents on the dance floor lead her to believe that she was better than a lot of people. She acts humble on the outside - or at least she tries to - but on the inside, she’s pretty judgemental of other people’s talents. However, if she feels threatened by what someone else can do, she might put them down without even realizing, usually with subtle, backhanded compliments.Your VicesLikes:

Secret: Ever since of of the older girls at her dance studio told her that good dancers don’t eat cake or “fat foods” Rory is incredibly anal about what she eats and is terrified of gaining weight. She hasn’t been skipping meals, but she eats very little and will only eat foods that are considered healthy.Family TiesFather: James Daniel Lennox | 44 | Lawyer

Any Other Important People: Both maternal and paternal grandparents, and her American Eskimo dog, Little, who lives in Phoenix with her family.HistoryRory Lennox was born on December 29th on a sunny day just south of Los Angeles, CA. Her parents had been trying to have a baby for a few years and were simply thrilled to welcome their little girl into the world. She spent the first two years of her life in California, but her family moved to Phoenix, Arizona after her father was offered a better job there. Her mother was a stay-at-home mom and didn’t work, and since Rory was still so young, the move was quick and painless.
When Rory was two and a half, her mother signed her up for dance classes because she believed every little girl should take them at least once. Her mother also used this time to go grocery shopping and run other errands that would become difficult when toting around a toddler.
She ended up loving dance class and spending time with all the other girls and boys who were with her. When she was five, her teachers recommended bumping her up to a more intensive level, and she begged her mom to let her sign up for more classes. At this point, she’d only been taking classes twice a week, and this level required her to be there four times a week. Her mother hemmed and hawed over it for a few weeks, thinking that was a lot for a five year old, but after much of Rory’s constant pestering, she finally gave in.
She excelled at an extremely fast pace, surpassing even some of the older students in skill and technique. Soon, when she joined her studio’s competition team, she was dancing every day after school, and sometimes on the weekends. Her mother thought it was exhausting and her father always complained that he never saw his daughter, but Rory just loved it so much, they couldn’t take it away from her. And her parents could see that she had so much talent in that teeny, tiny body. It would be wasteful for her to only use it recreationally. Rory’s father was a highly competitive athlete from when he was a child throughout college, so he knew what that type of world was like.
A little prima ballerina, her instructors would shower her with attention and praise, claiming she was the studio’s next star. Of course, all of this attention went to Rory’s head and left her with an air of superiority. She loved the attention though, and sucked up everything they had to say like a sponge. She excelled in several genres of dance, and from the time she was seven she was like a little dynamo on stage.
However, there were other dancers who were jealous of what Rory had to offer. She had several friends at the studio, but she always loved hanging out with the older girls. She looked up them and wanted to be just like them. When she was around nine years old, there were a few girls - who were probably about twelve or thirteen - who could tell that she was already starting to surpass them.
One night, at a dancer’s birthday party, everyone was there. Rory and another one of her friends, Lizzy, were helping themselves to the ice cream cake that was offered. Two of the older girls walked up to them and sneered at their food choices.
“Good dancers don’t eat junk like that.” One of them scoffed, folding her arms.
“Yeah…” The other one chimed in. “That kind of food is for fat kids. Have you ever seen a fat dancer who was actually good.”
The girls laughed at Rory’s horrified expression and walked away. Lizzy told her that those girls were stupid, but Rory was already throwing her cake in the garbage. That was when she became incredibly self conscious about everything she was eating. She didn’t touch any of the junk food in their house and convinced her mom to always cook healthy meals for lunch and dinner. Her mother didn’t take well to the idea since it was a lot of work, but eventually relented since Rory wouldn’t touch anything she deemed too unhealthy.
It carried on that way for the next four years. Eventually, Rory started to struggle trying to balance dance and her studies since she was always at class right after school ended. She was still a straight A student, but she would often be up until the late hours of the night making sure her homework and projects were perfect and just right. When she was thirteen, her parents decided they would homeschool her when she got to high school, figuring it would be the easiest option to compliment her vigorous dance schedule.
One day, right before Rory’s fourteenth birthday her dance studio was having it’s annual Christmas party. There were tons of people around, dancers, instructors, parents, etc. Rory and four of her other friends had choreographed their own dance to perform, along with several other groups. That was when Rory started to hear the voices. It was loud in her studio already, everyone was talking and there were kids running all over the place. But there was a very dull, hushed murmur that overlapped it. And she couldn’t get away.
Her head started pounding, and she moved into the dressing room, which had been unoccupied, to get away from it. The murmurs followed her though, and her headache intensified. What was wrong with her? Was she going crazy? Was she dying?
Two of her friends and her mom found her in the girls bathroom, huddled in the corner and crying with her hands over her ears, in a vain attempt to stifle the sound. Her friends voiced their concern, but she could hear their thoughts over them as well. Her mom was horrified by the state of her daughter, and didn’t know what to think when Rory asked her to stop the voices. Instead, she got her husband and they took her daughter home immediately, and then to the doctors the next day.
It didn’t take them long to figure out what was going on with Rory; a blood test confirmed what they already knew. A few hours later, a recruiter arrived and explained everything. She explained that Rory would have to come back to Vermont with her, and would be trained to control her telepathy at the Hammel Institute. Both her parents were outraged at the thought of letting her daughter attend school on the other country. They refused immediately.
Rory didn’t want to go either. She didn’t want to leave her studio, and threw a fit over the thought of not being able to dance competitively at this new school. It took the recruiter hours to convince the Lennox’s that this is what was best for Rory, and that there wasn’t much of a choice in the matter. And Rory begrudgingly agreed when she was told that her headaches would only get worse if she did not receive proper training.
So she packed up things and moved to Vermont. It was weird going to back to school halfway through the year, especially since she’d been homeschooled for the last few months. She liked it at Hammel, she really did, but she was bitter for the first few weeks because she couldn’t dance competitively. Hammel had their own team, but it wasn’t the same. Rory had never had a hard time making friends though, and aside from the lack of dancing in her life, she’s adjusted quickly to her classes and living away from her parents, since she’s always been relatively independent. However, she struggles a lot with trying to control her telepathy.Roleplay ExampleNahhhhhhhWhat About You?Name: Rikki
