Robert Terrell and Sean Nevilel are both doctors and thus were assigned to help sort medical supplies at the clinic, as well as to help with a basic procedures class. Beck Grenier is young and healthy, which means he gets to help with most of the lifting.

Beck didn't expect to be pushed in the direction of the clinic when he signed up for volunteer work. He thought he was going to just clean up some trash, organize recyclables, maybe plant a few trees. Instead he was there because they needed to sort medical supplies. Apparently they thought sending a kid behind in school by a few years to sort stuff he could barely read was a good idea? Yeah, that was going to end well.

He stood outside the clinic for a moment wondering if he should ditch. It was a really tempting idea, but for a kid who certainly wasn't going to get a scholarship, he needed as much of the kiss ass stuff on his records as he could get. If he wasn't book smart, he was just going to make up for it with volunteer work.

With a sigh, Beck stepped into the building. Doctor's offices gave him the creeps. You always had to wait, and when the doctor was ready you went to a room in the back. Sounded shady even though it clearly wasn't. Beck shook off the feeling, and looked for the closest adult of authority. "Hello? Um, I'm here for volunteer work.."

Sean hadn’t expected to be assigned to the medical clinic when he had first added his name to the volunteering list. His only request had been not to be assigned to work with animals, while also including a note that he was turning fifty-nine in a month, and, while he was happy to help however he could, they might want to assign someone younger to certain manual projects. In the end, he had been told to report to the medical clinic, for reasons, he suspected, which began and ended with the “M.D.” at the end of his name.

Whatever the reasons behind his assignment, he had arrived bright and early with a dozen doughnuts and a Box of Joe for himself and his co-volunteers. By being the first one there, he had met with the clinic director about expectations, had been given a list of things to do, and then warned that they might have to work around any patients that came in that day.

The psychiatrist had seated himself in one of the chairs in the waiting area to review the task list, but, when Beck entered, he rose to his feet. “Over here,” he told the boy. “You’re volunteering with me today.”

Rob detested running late, whether it was for appointments, going home, or in this case, volunteer work. He was no stranger to it, and the fact he'd been assigned to the medical clinic in town hadn't bothered him in the slightest. But running late? That was bothering him.

It wasn't entirely his fault. Mitch had been having a terrible morning, and though he'd left with plenty of time once his husband was sorted, his sister had called to harass him, and hadn't wanted to get off the phone until he'd promised to invite her over when Mitch was feeling better.

After parking behind the building, he adjusted his collar and headed into the building. He recognized Sean, but the boy, he didn't. Not that that was surprising. He didn't often work with kids, and the ones he did were... memorable. "Sorry I'm late," he apologized quickly. "What can I do to help?"
