The Sound of Silence (Open)

Cici groaned, sitting on her bed and staring at the book lying in front of her. She had homework to do. Boring homework. Necessary homework. She had better get onto it. Stretching her arms widely, she cast her eyes around the room. Just to clear her mind, she told herself. Really, she was looking for a distraction from the homework she hadn't yet done. As her eyes landed across the room on top of her drawers, she smiled. Found it. Standing, she bounced across the room to get her headphones, and slipped them on, then pulled out her phone and connected it to her headphones via bluetooth. Music would help her focus on her homework. It would calm her and get her into the right mood to do it. The opening chords for the song Psychosocial by Slipknot flooded her ears, and she bobbed her head to the fast, angry, a smile playing on her lips.
Although she had said to herself that the music would put her into a calm mood for homework, she found herself getting pumped up and suddenly her dorm room was unbearably stuffy. Eyeing her homework, she smiled wryly to herself as she got up, promising herself that she would come back soon and finish- sorry, start- it. Music blasting loudly in her ears, at odds with the cheerful smile on her face (a result of the music, she loved metal), she slowly walked outside, unsure of where to go. She could text a friend or find someone to hang out with, but she decided instead to head to a quiet place where she could freely enjoy her music.
Finding no one at the school pond, she smiled at the fish and took a seat, listening to her music. The song had just switched and she grinned as she recognized the song- The Sound of Silence, a cover by the metal band Disturbed. Even though it wasn't as heavy as what Cici normally listened to it, she found it had been love at first sight, uh, listen. It was such a beautiful cover and her favourite song at the moment. It felt like the music filled her soul and she couldn't help but sing along to it.
"Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again..."
Her clear voice filled the silence and Cici smiled, letting her eyes slide shut and relaxing.
