Thread Roulette: So It Begins

The Churchkey Bar is owned and operated by Cecil Wathen, a well-liked man who has no reason to shy away from his meta-human status. The other night, someone smashed the windows to the bar.

Remle Boyd, Samantha Rayburn, and Grayson Sato have come to clean up the damage.

Samantha crouched down onto the floor, staring up at the empty window frame and then at the shattered shards of glass which were hazardously scattered across the ground. Seriously, why? Hammel was known for its meta-humans; if people didn't like them then they should just move away.



It is possible that Samantha's meta-human status conflicted with her thoughts - her dragonfly-like pixie wings fluttering irritably against her navy duffel coat. As they fluttered, the translucent appendages cast a faint sea-blue light against the glass, which reflected it onto the floor in turn. Samantha would've thought it pretty if the recent aggressive acts against metas hadn't put her in an unusually grouchy mood.

Reaching into her pocket, the Hammel teacher pulled out a plastic shopping bag and started to pick up the larger glass shards; dropping them into the bag. Samantha winced and flicked her hand as she caught her fingertip on the edge of one of the glass pieces. "Ow." She muttered before continuing to dispose of the sharp shards.

Remle's boot heels clipped slowly across the floor as her broom made agitated "shush-shush-shush" sounds against the floor. She had a deep frown etched into her features as she silently demanded to know what the hell people were thinking to do such a thing. She really didn't understand it at all. She imagined that was going through a lot of people's minds right now since it seemed like several businesses were being targeted. She moved the shadows around the floor in order to find pieces of glass that had deviated from the origin point and diligently swept them up.

She heard Samantha's soft exclamation of hurt as she added to the pile of shards she'd already piled together. "Are you okay? I think I saw some gloves earlier?" she asked as she looked over to the few pairs sitting on the bar. Remle's own hands were gloveless but she had a pair tucked into the back pocket of her black pants, her long sleeved shirt rolled up to her elbows so that glass wouldn't be caught on the fabric when it became necessary to gather shards. She pushed her glasses up with the back of her wrist, and started tidying up the pile of glass she'd made in case she needed to fetch a pair of gloves for Samantha.

Gray never had worries about being a meta-human. The only time where he would risk exposing himself was when he got really angry. With the strong emotion it got a little difficult to control his shadow power. Other than that he didn’t have any fears of being a meta-human. There were places Gray had been to where he didn’t feel safe during his travels. Pilot Ridge was not one of those places. Gray always felt safe in Pilot Ridge. He considered the town as his home. Gray thought nothing was going to change that. Now Gray was squatting in a bar cleaning up glass.

The series of crime seemed to be after meta-humans. If anything happened to the school things would get so much worst than it was already.

He had his right hand gloved. He picked up the glass with that hand and placed it in the plastic bag he had. Gray looked up when he heard the exclamation of pain. Remle was already on top of taking care of Samantha. “Getting hurt wasn’t in the assignment.” Gray called to the two women. “Be careful.”

Samantha turned her head towards the brushing sound, looking at Remle whilst making a questioning 'hm' sound in her throat. "Oh yes I'm fine." She smiled, pushing down her restless thoughts to let her usually optimistic personality peek through.

However, the blonde did stand up and began searching for the mentioned gloves. As she was rummaging, she spoke again; her voice slightly labored and she bent down to search through the shelves and cupboards.. "To be honest, I'm more afraid of getting my wings cut." The last time her wing's glass-like membrane was cut, it had taken ages to heal. Her friend was a doctor but even then the other meta just wrapped the wing in clingfilm with a shrug.

Finding a pair of rubber gloves, Samantha snapped them on before returning to the broken glass with a brush - sweeping the shards into the bag. This would've been a wiser choice in the first place. "To be honest," she responded to Gray, "I'm a bit worried about being attacked. Do you think those vandals will come back?"

Remle didn't have wings to cut but could imagine that it was probably painful, at least she assumed so. Samantha's other question caught her attention though and she stopped sweeping to give it some thought before dismissing it. "I don't think so. They'd have to be all kinds of moronic to strike the same place twice, this time with at least three witnesses standing around," she concluded. "Besides, I plugged my phone in just a little bit ago, while it's charging I can access anything, watch," Remle turned towards her phone and raised her voice.

"Hey Siri~" a beep sounded nearby as the phone came to life. "Check my email," she ordered it. Siri's electronic voice answered her with the shameful amount of messages in her inbox. It was a testament at how far she'd come with sharing, two years ago nothing of the sort would happen. "See? If I tell it to call the police it'll be super quick," she said as a way to try and make Samantha feel better. "Also I have a broom and I can beat someone with it," she added. She wasn't the violent type but if someone went after Samantha's wings, she would certainly give it a shot.
