Eff This Holiday (Vincent)

Clearly lessons didn't always stick with Jesse Adams. While he was fully aware he was in a better place than he was last year, that wasn't stopping him from pulling the exact same stunt as he had last June.

Bundled up in a t-shirt and light hoodie, he'd shoved his wallet and cigarettes into his back pockets and flipped up his hood. Acting suspicious wasn't the greatest, but it was better than showing his face full tilt and getting smacked down by security. They were used to him slipping outside to smoke, which was why he had a thin white cigarette in his hand already. All he needed to do was look like he was going outside to smoke, and then he'd just... disappear for a while. Get a little tipsy, then come back just before normal curfew.

The fact he wasn't supposed to be off campus was all was being conveniently stashed in the back of his mind. Right now, drinking down his feelings was far more important. And probably not exactly healthy, but what could you do?

Well, a lot of things that were probably much, much better ideas. But for now, this was his best one, and nothing was going to stop him.

Father's Day was a holiday in Japan, but given their habit of celebrating things on a particular date rather than a general and flexible one, Vincent Meian had no particular worries about missing anything his children planned (in their way) by arriving at Hammel early on Sunday afternoon. There was some paperwork that needed finishing, and one of his students had been sick in the Infirmary over the last couple days. No harm in checking in on them, and easily back home in time for dinner to be made. In fact, the arbitrary holiday was far from his mind as he strode through the halls and completely vanished when he saw a familiar figure. Given that the blonde lived on campus, this was not a surprising thing, but...

He stopped, looking out the window curiously. Jesse was still walking towards the edge of the grounds. And while a number of the students on campus who smoked were polite enough to head away from the doors and public areas, Jesse was not fond of being in open spaces and therefore smoked with his back against a wall (usually). Something seemed... odd.

Shifting his bag over his shoulder, the trainer walked quickly through the nearest door and caught up to his student with a call of his name and a wave. "Good afternoon," the older man greeted. "Are you enjoying the summer weather?"

Since Jesse was still a bit on the unhappy side with him, the veteran kept his conversation light and mild. No point in accusing the youth of something, especially if there was nothing to actually be suspicious of. Besides, Vincent was known to interact with his students outside of lessons, especially this student. At least, before he left. Hopefully, he'd have a chance to start that up again; the blonde always looked like he could use an authority figure he could trust... or, at least, not be afraid of.

Jesse hadn't realized he had been holding his breath as he crossed the grounds until he felt the pressure build up in his chest. Slowly exhaling as he neared the entrance to the grounds, he felt his nerves washing away. Yes, he was breaking the rules, but he needed this, and he needed it bad. Besides, despite being of age now, he was sure no one on campus would willingly buy him alcohol and bring it back. Something about it being prohibited on campus.

Well, at least he was only breaking one rule today. He'd learned his lesson last year so far as to know bringing alcohol back to campus was a bad idea. But leaving campus to go drinking and come back before curfew? Perfectly acceptable. In his mind, anyway. He was sure that Dr. Neville, not to mention security and the headmistress would have other ideas, but he could deal with that later. For now, he was leaving for a bit, and nothing was stopping him.

Well, nothing but a voice. His trainer's voice nearly sent him bolting. Instead, he froze. The last time he'd seen him they... hadn't exactly been on the best of terms. He'd seen Vincent lose his temper, and without questioning why he'd simply bolted away. Old memories of his father doing the exact same thing prior to grabbing one of his sons by the collar had been enough to send him running. Sticking around to see what would happen next hadn't been in his plans. Hell, he'd gone so far as to run to Dr. Nik's neck of the woods and had begged her not to tell Vincent he'd been there. Only then had he essentially collapsed with his back against a wall, trying to ward off a panic attack.

Just like he was now. Biting down on his lip, his teeth working against his lip ring, he stayed stone still, though he kept a wary eye on his trainer. "What do you want, Mr. Meian?" No, not Vincent. He'd dropped back to using a more formal tone with him. Less chance of him losing it on him that way.
