Hesitant Introduction (Casper)

It had been a busy week for Dustin, settling in and getting familiar with the school. It was a bit overwhelming, but overall he was having a good time, he felt like he could get used to living here, the football team helped a lot of course. There was just one thing that was bothering him a bit now, who was the other boy in his dorm? He had so far not even seen him, not that Dustin had spent too much time in the dorm after the two first days, but he felt like it was really weird to live with someone he hadn’t even seen.

Not that Dustin would normally approach someone he didn’t know, but he thought it would be a good idea to at least say hello and introduce himself, he really hoped this guy was someone cool who he could hang out with. While he had met some cool people, especially the guys from the football team, he still didn’t really feel like he had made any friends, he knew he needed to make some effort to make that happen, but that was not very easy.

He stood outside of Casper’s door, then he knocked on the door. He put his hands in his pockets and felt a bit uncomfortable, was he going to look stupid for just randomly knocking on his door? He had no plan or suggestion as to what to do if they were going to hang out, this could get awkward and stupid. He was considering quietly getting back to his own room and phasing through his own door so that he wouldn’t make a sound when he closed the door.

Casper was new to the place himself. But he wasn't exactly busy exploring Hammel. Instead he mostly stayed in his room. He wasn't exactly the type to go around meeting everybody. He barely knew anyone, and Casper wasn't jumping at the chance to change that. He had met his roommate, Cici. She was nice, but high energy. She nearly gave him a heart attack when he turned around and there she was. He stayed holed up in his room so much that he didn't even realize he just got another roommate.

He heard more movement in the halls of their dorm, but he just figured Cici had some friends over. She was sociable after all. So when a knock came on his door he jumped. Was that Cici? Or maybe one of his sisters visiting? He adjusted his glasses and went to the door.

He opened it just a bit and peeked his head out, not being a fan of people in his space. It wasn't who Casper expected. In fact it wasn't even someone he knew. He stared at the other boy for a moment before finally saying anything. "Hallo... uh.." He wasn't sure where to go from there. How did this kid even get into their dorm? "Can I uh.. Help you?" He finally asked through his Dutch accent.

Dustin turned around and slowly started walking towards his own door, but before he had taken two steps, he heard the door open and he turned around and saw the other boy peeking his head out the door. He put his hands in his pockets awkwardly and looked away.

“Hey, I’m Dustin, I’m new here, I’m in this dorm too and figured I’d say hi” He shrugged and probably went from looking bit awkward to bored, which was almost how he felt, this guy didn’t look like what he had hoped for, his first impression was kind of nerdy and awkward, which wasn’t the type of person he would want to be around.

“So uh yeah... Figured I’d uhhh ask to hang out, but it’s fine if you don’t want to, whatever” he shrugged again, he felt so stupid and lame right now, he promised himself to never ever do anything like this ever again. “So uh, you play any sports?” He knew the answer to that question just from looking at Casper.
