The Basics
Name: Edith Jennifer Love
Nicknames: Edie
Age: 15
Orientation: Unsure, she has never actually dated anyone.
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Biological Manipulation. At this point she has only learned how to use her powers to heal physical wounds. She can heal just about anything, but it takes energy on her part. So far she hasn’t managed neurological control, so when she heals someone it hurts like crazy! Basically, it feels like someone is performing surgery with no anesthetic, which, in a sense, she is. As a sub-part of her power, she is eerily good at seeing what is physically wrong with someone, as long as it is something she is familiar with. (For example, if she has no clue what an appendix is she can’t tell if someone has appendicitis, only that they have an infection.)
Play By: Emma Watson
The Details
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Green
Any Piercings? Only ears
Any Tattoos? No
Any Scars? Nothing unusual
General Appearance: Fairly short, freckly, fair skinned girl with messy, wavy brown hair. She grew up on a farm with a bunch of brothers and looks it! She wears nothing but loose, comfortable jeans, shorts or coveralls and t-shirts or button-ups. Almost all of her clothes are hand-me-downs from her brothers, so all of her jeans are permanently grass and mud stained and she almost always looks disheveled, even if she’s just showered and brushed her hair. She is really one of those people who could be pretty if they tried, but she doesn’t, so she just looks plain.
Edith isn’t really thin, or skinny, or willowy. No, she’s straight up scrawny. She has basically no curves and when she had her hair short was often mistaken for a boy. Her angular face doesn’t help her look girly either. She doesn’t really mind, though, and if people point it out she lets them know that if they don’t like her looks it’s their problem, not hers.
Personality: She comes off as sweet and sheltered, which is exactly what she is. She tries to follow the motto “if you don’t have anything good to say then don’t say anything at all”, but it doesn’t always work. Though she is a really nice person 90% of the time, if you piss her off she gets seriously angry! The thing that ticks her off most is people messing with or talking smack about her family or close friends. If someone insults her, she’ll just brush it off, but if they go after her mom she’ll punch them in the jaw.
She is highly compassionate and enjoys helping people, which makes sense with the ability she developed. (Though super strength would have been far more useful for dealing with her brother Joe.) She is also a highly independent person, but will not turn down help or companionship if it is offered.

Strengths: Anything athletic besides stuff that requires a lot of physical strength, mathematics, dealing with animals, hard physical labor
Weaknesses: Homework (procrastinator!), holding her temper, actually acting like a girl
Fears: She dislikes heights
Secret: Not yet!

History
She is the second oldest of six children and grew up on a farm in North Carolina. She had a relatively happy childhood, though it was violent because of all the testosterone in the house. She grew up without television or any other form of electronic entertainment, but she was rarely bored. There was always something to be done by on the farm, and on the rare occasions there wasn’t she and Joseph (and later everyone else) would have adventures in the woods around their house. She lived in a small ranching/farming community that was very closely knit, everyone knew everyone else and everyone knew everyone else’s business. Because of this she was never lonely or unsupervised, even when she was by herself.
Her life was relatively unexciting until her little brother Stephen broke his leg. She was out with Joseph, Richard and baby Stephen looking for crawdads in the stream by their house when the rock Stephen was standing on slid and sent him tumbling. This wouldn’t have been a problem, but the rock rolled right on top of his tiny leg! When the others finally managed to get the rock off the screaming baby, it was obvious his leg wasn’t just broken, it was shattered. Horrified, Edie did what came naturally. She grabbed his leg and just willed it to be better. His screams and cries intensified for a few seconds, and then suddenly stopped. His leg was perfectly normal again, just as if nothing had happened! (Well, except for the torn and bloodied pants.) Her brother’s looked at her as if she was a strange creature they had never seen before. There was no denying it, she was definitely different. This wasn’t just some act of God, this was something she’d done with her own two hands. She’d saved her baby brother’s leg. \
This happened when she was just a few months away from turning 15, and she’s been at Hammel ever since, which is only about six months or so. With help from the staff at Hammel she has learned a lot about her power and how to control it. Her main lessons have been in human anatomy and physiology so she can better understand her patients and her power. At first she had to grab somebody and really grip them and concentrate in order to have any effect on them, now she needs only to touch them in order to help them. She is now working on her energy expenditure while using her power and on her diagnostic capabilities, because as of now she can only tell what is wrong with someone if it is something she is familiar with and can physically see (such as a knife wound or broken leg).
Roleplay Example
Today was a day of many firsts for Edith Love. It was her first time leaving North Carolina, her first airplane ride, her first day at a brand new school. It was all just a little overwhelming. She stepped out of the taxi onto the campus at Hammel, her knees knocking. The taxi driver pulled her battered wheelie bag out of the trunk and held out his hand expectantly. Edith absently dropped a $20 bill into it and then watched numbly as her only chance at escape drove away.
She took a deep breath and let it out with a loud whooshing sound. Now Edie, don’t you forget what mamma told you. Being scared or nervous only hurts you, so no being either one! She straightened her shoulders and marched up to the towering front doors, placing a brave façade on her bony face. Right as she was reaching for the door, it burst open, swinging out toward her and knocking her on her butt. A boy came running out – he could only have been a year or two older than her little brother Lukas. She watched him run down the path as she picked herself up. Wonder what has him in such a rush?
By now, the door had swung closed again. She reached for the handle again, wary of more outward explosions. Just as she was about to step into the building, she heard a muffled THUNK! and a cry from behind her. She turned around, and spotted that same little boy sitting on the grass and holding his leg, crying. Poor thang, Edie thought to herself. She sighed, her soft heart winning over her urge to just get this first day crap over with. She jogged up to the little boy, her bag bumping along behind her in a very ungainly way.
“Hey sugar, you okay? You hurt yourself?” She asked the boy in her most soothing older-sister voice. He nodded and sniffled, pointing at his ankle. Edie crouched down next to him and rolled up his pant leg to see it better. It was swelling already, not good. “Oh, ouch!” she exclaimed, “I think you sprained it, and pretty bad too.” She turned to the boy’s tear-stained face. “I can fix it, love, but it’s gunna hurt. Do you want me to fix it?” He stared at her for a second, his bottom lip trembling with suppressed sobs. He nodded and closed his eyes, letting her know he was ready.
“Alright, honey, on the count of three, okay?” He nodded, screwing up his face in anticipation of pain. She gently picked up his leg in both hands and started counting. “One… Two… Three!” She felt the tingly heat in her hands channel and shoot into the boys leg. He screamed once, and then bit his lip to stifle the noise. Edie put his leg down again, “there, is that better?” He opened his eyes slowly and hesitantly, not wanting to see what damage must have been done to hurt him that much. He rolled his ankle in a circle, and then tentatively began to stand up. Edie got up with him and gave him a once over to make sure he hadn’t done any more damage to himself. She smiled at him and ruffled his hair. “Now go on wherever you were goin’, just be more careful!” He grinned at her through the tears that were drying on his face and sprinted toward a building on the east side of campus. Edie laughed to herself and shook her head at how reckless little kids could be.
She walked back up to the front doors. After I find the dorms, I need to find where to get some food! I’m starved. At this point, brave was certainly something she could do.
