Powers: Cold and Ice Manipulation: Aurora can alter the temperature of her surrounding, emanating a chill. She also freezes objects and even people with her touch. At the present time her powers react to her emotions, generally when she is angry or upset. If the emotion is extreme nearby water sources will freeze as well. However she cannot yet purposefully use her gifts, at least not very well. Side effects include sensitivity to heat and fatigue after power use.

General Appearance: Aurora is exceptionally pale, her skin a white alabaster hue. Her hair as well is pale blonde, almost white. She wears it long, often is carefree waves that fall midway down her back. Her eyes are her most striking feature, a piercing blue which contrasts to her paleness. She is slightly taller than average, at about 5’7”, and of slender build. She is rather petite with gentle curves. She generally wears an expression of indifference or annoyance and rarely smiles.
She moves with a notable elegance and dresses to match, preferring clothing of sophistication. Items such as dresses, skirts and on occasion slacks, are her staples. She prefers to dress very feminine and in shades of blue as well as neutral tones such as gray, black and white. She accessorizes with gems and silver, generally selecting lovely and unique pieces.
Personality: Aurora is in a nutshell an Ice Queen. She has a very cold personality, always holding others at arms length. She is generally indifferent to others, and comes across as extremely selfish as well as arrogant. She tends to make enemies quickly, however she is rather skilled at manipulating others and can be quite the social butterfly when she chooses to be. She does not hesitate to use her charms and wiles to get her way if need be. Having been an only child most of her life, she is also exceptionally spoiled and impatient. She comes across as extremely confident to the point of narcissism, yet this is merely a façade. She is truly a sensitive soul, but very guarded and skilled at hiding her emotions. She is secretly terrified of caring for others for she sees it as a fatal weakness and so she forces herself to remain aloof and alone, trusting no one. She is highly independent, hesitating to rely on anyone other than herself. Her four year old sister is her weakness however. She dotes upon Summer incessantly and it is only in her presence that Aurora ever seems truly happy.

History
Aurora lived a charmed life. Her parents had believed they could have no more children and so they spoiled her, leaving Aurora wanting for nothing. However, when she was thirteen, her mother fell unexpectantly pregnant. Aurora hated the idea of a sibling, but when her mother died in childbirth she quickly came attached to the child. Her father fell into a deep depression, leaving Aurora to care for her sister. She loved her sister, trying to take her mother’s place. However, her father’s depression lasted until Summer was almost three, an intense reaction to his wife’s death. Aurora never forgot this. Seeing how easily love could destroy someone she vowed to never allow herself to suffer love. Even as caring for her sister stirred up desire to have a family, and she developed many secret crushes over the years, she never succumbed, seeing all too often the heartbreak it led to. Such fleeting happiness could not be worth that price she decided and so she escaped into books and fantasy. Her cold demeanor grew even more so over the years until she was dubbed the ice queen during the later half of her sophomore year. Students whispered that the very air grew cold around her, but she ignored these rumors. It was at seventeen though that one day, a boy was dared to kiss her. She snubbed him, but he tried to steal a kiss. As his lips met hers, her cold rage froze him, his lips and part of his face becoming coated in ice. She was then to be brought to Hammel. She was content to go, for not being able to control her powers would be a weakness she simply couldn’t allow, but she was sad to leave her sister and concerned for her well being. Her father is slowly returning to his old self, but Aurora worries he won’t be able to care for Summer alone. So she spends her time at Hammel mostly studying and trying to master her powers as quickly as possible.

Alyssa climbed the final steps of the mountain to reach the top. She paused, her body hunched over and her breath harsh and labored as she surveyed the view before her. She saw the valley and the castle it contained, the location of the rumored safe-haven for people like her. She smiled slightly, exhausted, but determined to continue on and complete her journey at long last now that she stood so close to her destination. She slowly began the decline of the mountain, her legs growing weaker at the constant strain, yet she ignored her pain. Suddenly her weakened body collapsed without warning, her legs crumpling under her slight weight sending her tumbling down the remainder of the mountain. She cried out weakly, her voice hoarse from a lack of refreshment. Finally she landed at the base of the mountain, rolling slightly into the meadow until her body lay still. Her eyes fluttered as she rested on the brink of unconsciousness, her stubbornness willing her awake as she attempted to stand and walk the remaining distance. Her body was sore and weak, scraped and bloody, but nothing seemed seriously damaged. However, as she began to stand she screamed as pain pulsed through her leg, her ankle giving from beneath her once more. She winced as she fell to her knee, panting heavily, her eyes closed as she tried to block the unwanted tears which came unbidden to her eyes. She stood, resting her weight on her good leg as she began to limp towards the castle which loomed before her. She did not make it far before her body protested against her efforts. She made it a few feet farther before the dizziness hit her. It, along with the constant throbbing pain in her leg, was simply too much for her to bear. Her body was no condition to continue on, despite her desperation to. Her gaze was fixed on the castle as it began to blur before her eyes as she fell into a state of cursed darkness. Only a little farther…. I’m so close… I know I can… make it… she thought until at last unconsciousness claimed her.
