Hair Color: Gray
Eye Color: Brown
Any Piercings? One in either ear

General Appearance: At 5’3 Ingrid is a short elder woman who despite her height has a tendency to look very imposing. She’s slender with a slight stomach, but not noticeably muscled. Ingrid has relied more upon mental strength then physical and it shows. Over the years she’s developed a number of wrinkles and her hair went gray early in her thirties. She never bothered to dye it. Her hair is kept short and out of the way, and though she’s almost 70, only needs her reading glasses occasionally.
Her clothing style is no nonsense, Ingrid feels she has outgrown the need for frills or trends. Instead, she wears a mix of business causal, though she never wears pants. She likes to indulge in the femininity of skirts as was expected in her youth. Ingrid doesn’t wear much makeup or use many cosmetic products, she likes to think that true beauty is from the mind not the body. She likes simple designs when it comes to jewelry; she rarely wears more then a pair of earrings and a nice watch. Overall her look could be described as minimal but classy.
Personality: Ingrid has lived a long life. She’s a woman set in her ways and much to stubborn to change any off them. Once she’s got her mind on something, it would take an act of congress to make her let it go. Ingrid’s work as a teacher at a school for meta-humans has left her hard to surprise. She’s heard everything at least once and hardly acts embarrassed by even the sauciest of topics.
Ingrid is blunt and straight forward in her manner of speech. She feels she has earned the right to honesty after being around so long. Her comments are often mistaken for distaste against others, but if she really disliked you, you would know it. Ingrid doesn’t beat around the bush when she hates someone and never tried to hide it.
As said, Ingrid is honest to the extreme of it being harsh. She’s not the type to sugar coat anything. She’s also quiet strict as a teacher and is known for giving hard lessons. Around test time, it’s not uncommon to hear her name being cursed throughout Hammel’s halls.
However, Ingrid isn’t all bad. Despite her harsh ways, Ingrid does genuinely love her students and co-workers. If she see someone at the school in need, she’ll do anything to help them. Ingrid has a bleeding heart when it comes to children. She strives to be fair and to keep her temper, even when someone has set her desk on fire three times in the last semester. She even has a sense of humor, though it tends to be dry and a little black.

History
Ingrid was an only child born to a stay at home mother and a father whom was off fighting in the last of WW II. Her father was injured during the war and lost his ability to walk. However, unhappiness was never a part of Ingrid’s life. Though he was immobilized, her father taught Ingrid many life lessons and was her number one supporter throughout life. So when at age 12, Ingrid began to exhibit powers, her father took it as a means of pride instead of disgust. She was taken to Hammel shortly afterwards.
Ingrid liked her time as a Hammel student. She excelled in classes and learned, though slowly, how to control her powers. She was honestly sad to see her date of graduation approaching, believing that this was meant to be her home. After debating for a while, Ingrid made the decision to come back and teach there someday.
Ingrid’s had always loved children, so it came as no surprise that she wanted to teach. She’d held an affinity for the sciences ever since she was discovered as a meta, so Ingrid graduated with a Biology degree. It was shortly after graduation that she met Richard and they were wed after only four months of dating. Ingrid has never regretted this.
She went into teaching at Hammel less then a year after marriage and was relieved to find the joy she had there as a student still remained. It was a few years later that she was pregnant with her first child, Samuel. Ingrid left the institute for a few years for her son and then again for the daughter, Renee, that came along quickly afterwards. Ingrid went back to teaching for a long time before her third child was born. Denny came as a surprise to Ingrid and Richard, but he was loved none the less. His older siblings had never shown signs of mutations, but around Denny’s 11th birthday he began to use Atmidokinesis (ability to control vapor). Since she had a position at Hammel, recruiters were called in immediately and Denny was sent to the school.
Having her son was in school wasn’t easy for Ingrid. Denny was something of a hellcat in his early years, and as his mother, Ingrid was the one left to deal with him. He tended to act out to try to fit into Hammel and no matter Ingrid’s disapproval, Denny didn’t straighten out until after he left. She wouldn’t never admit it, but she was relieved when he graduated.
Her oldest children married young and went on in successful lives. Samuel went into law enforcement and married a quiet Irish girl he met during a holiday. Renee became a pastry chef, whom married a store manager. Between the two, Ingrid was gifted with three loving grandchildren.
Denny, however, ran off about a year after graduating. Ingrid heard little from him, only a few letters, until about two years ago. He called and apologized for his long absence, and what proceeded was one of the hardest conversations in her life. Her son had ran off with a school mate, Alex Hanson, and the two were engaged. Richard did not take the news well, and Ingrid had to do a lot of damage control to keep the family intact. She made both boys come over for the holidays, and locked her husband and child in a room until they worked things out. It took a lot of time for everyone to settle into the news, but Ingrid being the stubborn woman that she is, has made it work so far.
As for her opinion on the matter, Ingrid has always had the inclination that Alex and Denny weren’t just close friends and she was quick to welcome her son’s fiancé into her family. There was nothing a child of Ingrid’s could do to lose her love. She’s still a little upset that her son felt he needed to keep it from her for so long. Ingrid is still trying to get them to set a proper date, and continues to pester them about letting her plan the wedding.
Ingrid is currently continuing her work at Hammel, watching her students grow and stubbornly refusing to leave. It is likely that she’ll retain her position until someone forces her to retire, in which case it has already been stated that she will still pop in on the school from time to time. Ingrid’s expecting the birth of Renee’s third child soon, and is overall, very happy with her position in life.
Roleplay Example
I've already got Emma here but:
“Yes, yes.” A loud laugh, and the distinct rise of Jazz in the background. “Well, tell the kids I love them. Goodbye, Renee.” A sharp click, as she hung up the phone. A rustle of papers, as she went back to her work. Ingrid leaned over her desk, marking tests with he favorite red pen.
The song switched and Elvis played softly in the background, as she finished grading. She then turned to entering the grades in her grade book. Most teachers now days used computers, but Ingrid was old school. She’d have to make someone help her input them later. Besides she didn’t trust computers, or just about any technology for that matter. She still kept a tape player in her office instead of buying an ipod.
Once she finished, Ingrid began to tidy her desk. One of her students was dropping by to discuss a paper, and she wanted everything to look welcoming. She turned off her music, and dug out a bag of hard candy from a drawer. She set it out in one of the crystal bowels Alex had sent for her birthday. Ingrid smoothed out her navy skirt and returned to her seat. She heard the soft knock at her door. “Come in.” After a moment of hesitation, in popped the head of one the juniors. “Sit please.” Ingrid smiled and leaned back, gesturing to the cushy chair in front of her. “Why don’t we get started?”
