General Appearance:
Exie Yates is a rather short and slender little girl, measuring up at 5'2''. To make up for this, she's often seen in boots and other cute shoes with some sort of lift. Yates isn't the biggest fan of high heels and wont wear them too often unless she feels the occasion calls for them, and when she gets home they'll be the first things she kicks off.
She loves scarves, jackets, and gloves. She'll often be found wearing light scarves and gloves even during the summertime. Her favorite pattern is a tie between stripes and plaid and it's rare to see her out of those. Her style is simple, but girly. She likes to be comfortable in what she's wearing and is never caught without at least three pieces of jewelry. Not a neat freak, she is confident in the power of laundry detergent and its ability to get stains out of her clothes for when she's goofing off.
Her hair is long, going down a little farther than the middle of her back. When she has the time, she loves to put the extra effort into her hair. Bows, clips, headbands...She loves them all. On her very lazy days she'll have it down in one or two braids or under a hood, hat or beanie.
Personality:
The brunette seems like a ditz, and that's definitely because she is one. Accident prone and extremely superstitious, she knows every little thing that could possibly give a person good or bad luck. It always comes as a surprise to others when they realize that the girl is actually quite intelligent.
In her home, she only speaks Italian even though it's just her mother that was born and raised in Italy. Due to this fact, she sometimes forgets to slip back into English when she's talking to other people. Often times when the girl is angry or excited or at any extreme state of emotion she will slip into Italian without thinking.
Exie is also a major nervous eater, this would be a problem for her figure if not for the fact that she has a great metabolism and is very active. The girl enjoys sports as well, and is often running around to keep active and healthy. Vegetarian, she typically eats very healthy outside of her stress eating. Tragically, she is allergic to fabric softener and pineapple. While she's not very upset over the pineapple allergy, she has always been less than thrilled about the fabric softener as she could never borrow friends' clothing unless she decided to go through the trouble of washing them first.

Strengths:
Exie can almost always come up with something positive to say. The girl doesn't know how to say die and never gives up (unless her horoscope was bad) She picks up on things quickly and is very humble. Exie likes to think outside of the box and is very artistic. She has an excellent memory and never forgets a name or a face once she's been introduced. Exie is also ambidextrous. Ambitious and energetic.
Weaknesses:
She's terrible at getting things done on time, she's often running late or procrastinating until the very last second. A lot of the times she's off in her own world daydreaming, and if a teacher puts her next to a window in class it's like asking her not to pay attention to a single word their saying. She's not always sure of what to do when she doesn't have anything to do, slowing down is unfamiliar to her in a lot of ways.
Fears:
The dark, failure, snakes, being left behind, heights, bad luck.
Secret: Nobody knows that she's afraid of the dark, so far she's been able to hide that from everybody. Exie has also never been kissed before.

History
Jackson was in the Air Force, stationed in Italy when he met Elisa. They fell in love and she came back with him to America to settle down. Jackson and Elisa agreed to raise their daughter speaking both Italian and English and decided Italian would be their home language. Due to complications, Elisa was told that she wouldn't be able to have anymore children after Exie was born.
Jackson believed in a strong work ethic and made sure to instill that in his daughter, her procrastinating didn't start up until much later... About the time her quality of sleep started to worsen. Her parents thought it was strange that a twelve year old would be having these sorts of issues, and it wasn't until she accidentally started to slip into their own dreams that they realized there was something very different about their daughter.
When they discovered that their daughter was gifted, they became even more protective of their daughter and she had barely convinced them not to put her into a home study program. All of her outings were supervised, and she was told she wasn't allowed to date until she was eighteen. Sleepovers, understandably, weren't allowed as they didn't want something happening to their daughter. Some minor issues in the home started up due to her procrastination and lack of concentration at points.
Elisa and Jackson still were concerned about the well being of their daughter, how was she going to be a functioning member of society? Her father had hoped for her to join the air force like him and knew they wouldn't take somebody who was only half awake. Around Exie's fifteenth birthday, a recruiter for Hammel showed up. After it was explained to Exie and her parents what she was, that there were more like her and that the school would be a place she could get help with her gift her parents realized there really was no other option. For the first time in fifteen years, they were going to have to let go of their daughter.
Exie was greatly relieved when she was sent away for school for her gifts where she was freed from the sir and ma'am sandwiches and able to dress a little more freely. Unfortunately for her, her late birthday stopped her from being able to start that term, but she was off the following year.
While the girl has had to deal with the culture shock of everything, she has been enjoying herself in her first couple years at Hammel. Although, thanks to the strict 'no boys' policy at her home, she has had a bit of a hard time adjusting to the boys around her and often gets flustered very easily. She has done her best to go without enemies and has done reasonably well for herself. Unfortunately, she still hasn't quite gotten the hang of not having every moment planned out for her. Her first year she mapped out her own schedule and kept herself very busy. The poor girl still doesn't always know what to do with herself when people ask her to hang out and simply do nothing, her parents would have considered it a waste of time after all. Still, she has been adjusting, learning how to relax a little when away from home, and trying to keep up with all her studies.
Roleplay Example
A few thoughts ran through the young brunette's head as she sat at the table, tapping her pen and nursing her fifth cup of coffee, ignoring the empty box of cookies to the side of her. Why was this stupid essay so hard to write? Would the barista cut her off anytime soon? And of course, most importantly, how long until she caved and purchased half of the snacks in their display case?
Finals were around again, and while she had taken care of most of her other classes, there were a few problems with this one. Exie had paid attention to maybe half of what her teacher had said, he was after all a very boring man and had made a tremendous mistake by placing her by the window and right next to that really cute boy from her English class... Between the distractions outside and his smile, she really hadn't gotten much out of the lessons.
To make matters worse, she had been so stressed lately over getting work done for her classes that she had neglected to keep her gift in check. Between popping into other dreams and getting very little sleep herself...She was due for her sixth cup already. Grumbling in unison with her stomach, she huffed and got up with a start. She mumbled under her breath as she walked up to the counter, not alert enough to pay attention to her surroundings, "Bene, si vince stomaco. Io ti porterà un muffin."*Hmph. Stupid stomach. And-- oh! "Umph!" Stupid her... She crashed into somebody in front of her, "Oh, mi-- I mean, I'm sorry..." Queue the blushing, and ugh. Please don't let them know Italian and have heard her speaking to her stomach...
It's like her day just kept getting better and better.
*Fine, you win stomach. I'll get you a muffin.
