No Exit: Siesta-a respite [Horus+Adrian]

BRIIIIING! BRIIIIING! BRIIIIING!
The security guard poked her head in, noting how unusually empty the student lounge was at this point. Just two boys. "You have to stay in here. We're locking down now; you can leave once the alarm stops. Keep the lights off and stay out of sight of the window or door."

They looked on the older side, what kind of trouble could they get up to?

“No, no, no.”
Adrian verbally rejected each channel as he passed it as he took part in one of his favorite activities: lying on the couch and channel surfing. Unfortunately for his boredom-ridden brain, nothing was on. Everything was either an infomercial, a kid’s show, or boring as hell. He flipped the channels again and again, hoping against all hope that he might find something. He shifted slightly on the couch to get more comfortable, and winced as he inadvertently sent a stab of pain shooting through his body.
“Ugh,” he muttered to himself as the inflamed soreness settled back into a dull ache. “I hate wrestling.”

Yep. Today in gym class, needless to say, they had been wrestling. And, just because he was a few second late to class, the teacher had made him go first. Adrian did not like wrestling. He had never been much of a fighter. He just didn’t have the build for it. He didn’t even have any siblings to wrestle, like most people did when they were kids. So he had a bit of a disadvantage. And, just to put the cherry on the top of an already bad situation, the guy he was up against was massive. Like, Godzilla big. Okay, perhaps not that big, but he had to be at least twice Adrian’s size. Needless to say, Adrian was beaten to within an inch of death. Well, perhaps not that much, but it still hurt. A lot. And when he had complained to the teacher, he had been told, and I quote, to "suck it up and be a man.” And so, he had come here, to the student lounge, to try and forget his troubles with a bit of mind numbing television. There was another guy in the room with him but, for the most part, he ignored him.

Another movement to settle himself and another shot of pain. This really wasn’t worth it. There was nothing on and every time he moved just a little to much, he was in pain. He might as well go to bed and sleep off this his soreness. Adrian swung his legs down from the couch with a groan. Even that simple movement was enough to send another pain shooting throughout his body. He didn’t need to go to bed. He needed to dive into a pool of ice. But since one was not readily available, his bed would just have to suffice.

As he stood up and made his way towards the door, a sudden, loud alarm starting sounding throughout the room. He looked towards the ceiling trying to find where it was coming from, almost as if by locating the origin of this rather obnoxious noise he might find a way to stop it. But he found nothing. Turning his attention back to the door, he took the last few steps towards it and was just about to open it when someone else on the other side did it for him. A security guard.

"You have to stay in here. We're locking down now; you can leave once the alarm stops. Keep the lights off and stay out of sight of the window or door."

“Wh-what? Locking down? Is something wrong?” But she was already gone, closing the door behind her. Adrian tried opening the door but found it to be locked already, stubbornly resisting his attempts to gain exit. He groaned in frustration as he gave up his efforts and banged his head against the door. Wasn’t this just a bitch? Couldn’t she have waited about two seconds for him to leave the room?

He turned back around to the room and saw the guy who would be sharing this prison with him. Maybe he knew what this was all about. Adrian certainly didn’t. He took a few steps towards him and asked, speaking up to be heard above the alarm,
“Hey. Do you know what’s going on?”

Horus didn't care about drills.

The boy had grumbled and trotted to the student lounge after physics with a head pounding full of information he deemed useless. Ignoring the constant flicker of the TV, the blonde had clambered up onto a sofa, grabbed a cushion and simply dropped off to sleep. Anyone who didn't know Horus would have thought he was very ill. Or very rude. The simple fact was, the boy LIKED to sleep, and had gotten himself extremely settled in the corner, nearly blanking Adrian's existance entirely. Lying still, he'd just started to come apart from his sleeping body, when the alarm had started shrieking in his ears. Righting himself and swearing violently, then boy stuck his fingers in his ears.

Eventually the blonde finished cursing and looked round the room with bleary blue eyes. Okay, he had company. Dragging himself across the sofa and all but blanking the security guard, aside from to give a low whistle to her ass as she wandered off, Horus eyed Adrian with a shrug. "'S a stupid drill." Stuffing his hands in his pocket and pinging off a text to Sammy, the boy yawned. "Like 'f some wanker tried t'take th'school an' beat us up or whatev." Scratching his head, then pulling his hat on, Horus put his feet back up. "Don'tcha sweat it." Flopping backwards, the boy began to close his eyes again.

"'m Horus." He added, waving a hand sleepily. "I can putcha t'sleep if y'want? Then y'wont have t'worry for the next hour or whatever." Scratching himself and wiggling his toes, the blonde looked over at the TV. "Hey, 's th'horror channel on right now?" The teen asked, suddenly looking slightly more awake. "'cause they do th'most AWESOME stuff." Yes, I feel I should apologise for Horus' behavior. He's a very, very dopey, useless sort of boy with very little going for him, but at least he's not agressive, or out to cause trouble, so Adrian should probably feel somewhat thankful for that.

Scratching his nose, Horus beamed over at Adrian cheerfully, then suddenly conked out on the cushions, narcolepsy thoroughly kicked in. At least he won't say anything stupid for a couple of minutes, thank your lucky stars.

A drill? This was all a drill? There were drills here? He hadn’t really been here long enough to have participated in a previous one. Of course, there had been fire drills at Adrian’s old schools, back in Washington D.C. and St. Louis. But all those drills involved getting out of the building, not locking yourself inside. Besides, was it really a smart idea to attack a school full of teenagers who all had some supernatural power? Most of the people here could probably beat anyone who wanted to, as Horus put it, t'take th'school an' beat us up or whatev.
“Couldn’t they at least turn the alarm off?” he muttered to himself.

“Adrian,” he muttered absentmindedly, giving his name to his companion. And then, to the question of whether he wanted to be put to sleep, he responded. “No. No thanks, I’m fine.” Despite the fact that just a few minutes ago he had felt like simply collapsing on his bed was the only option, he was no longer tired. He was much too keyed up. He was still sore, unfortunately, but it took a back seat to the distraction of the stupid alarm. He began pacing agitatedly, not sure what to do.

He dropped down onto an empty couch and tried to continue watching television. But nothing had changed. There was still nothing to watch. He tried watching the horror channel, as Horus had suggested. Even that wasn’t good. They were playing some old fashioned horror movie where all the guts looked like ground beef and the blood looked like ketchup. Are you sure this wasn’t the cooking channel? Even if it hadn’t been really it was a fruitless effort. The blaring alarm was drowning out any noise that might be coming from the television. He raised the remote and flicked the screen to blackness.

He stood up and began pacing again. He couldn’t stand just sitting and waiting. He was too fidgety. He had to admit, he was a bit nervous. What if Horus was wrong and this wasn’t just a drill and something bad was happening? He turned to Horus to ask him and was surprised to see the boy passed out on the couch. He raised an eyebrow at the sleeping form and then rolled his eyes. How in the world could anyone sleep with that alarm blaring in the background? He continued his pacing for a few moments before turning back to Horus. He really couldn’t contain himself anymore. Stepping over to the boy, he shook him a bit to wake him, saying,

“Horus. Hey Horus! Are you sure we shouldn’t try to get out?” He knew what the security guard had said, but really, who knew what was going on?

Horus found any drill the perfect excuse to conk out somewhere. In fact, when they'd had a fire drill not more than three weeks ago, the blonde had been found at the evacuation point with his duvet wrapped around him, asleep on the grass. There'd been a lot of prodding, some complaining and a lot of swearing, especially since the boy seemed to have positioned himself in the perfect position to trip everyone over. So for Horus to doze through the lockdown drill didn't seem surprising at all. As Adrian shook him, he continued to sleep, rolling from side to side uselessly.

However, Horus' conscious state was still working, and "outside" of his body, sat there shaking his head at Adrian's serious freak out. "Dude chill!" He tried to shout, aware that outside his body, no one could hear him or see his flailings. He wasn't there, not really anyway. "Dude this fuckin' sucks. WAKE UP." He yelled down at his sleeping body, trying to jab it with his foot. It was only when Horus' eyes fell on a disgarded chicken sandwich that his nose twitched and his eyes opened.

"Mnhn." Horus mumbled incomprehensably, reattaching himself to his physical body. "Nhm." Eventually, sitting up and grabbing around in his bag for sandwiches, the blonde met Adrian's eyes. "Look, 'm tellin' ya, 's just a drill. Like we sit still f'a few hours, right?" Swinging his legs round and eyeing his fellow prisoner calmly. "S' so we're safe if in th'real event someone got t'us, we'd be safe." Yawning, and stuffing part of a cheese sandwich into his mouth, Horus crossed his legs and shrugged. "S'quit panickin', y'makin' me nervous." Laughing softly and stuffing the rest of the crust into his mouth, the teen stretched out.

"F'serious, dude, lets just enjoy extra free time... oooorrr...." The blonde gained a mischievious smirk. "We could tie th'blankets t'gether an' climb out the window? Like mission impossible!" ... Oh dear.

The alarm went off again, just once, giving the all-clear. Within two minutes, a security guard poked her head in, nodding at the people inside. "Thanks. Lockdown's been lifted. You can go now."
