weariness, it plagued the girl. She was overwhelmed and exhausted. Not only was it the move to a new town, new school. No, it was sheer weight of the knowledge that had been passed to her. She was a telepathic. That little bit of new weighed more heavily on Jenni's shoulder then her mothers final breakdown, or her abandonment by her friends. She was freak, she was a meta-human, and the fact terrified her.
How on earth was anyone supposed to learn anything when their entire world had been turned upside down? How could anyone concentrate? Yet, they were expected to learn normal stuff as well as power training. Jen just hoped she could have a little time to get used to everything. Being thrown in the deep end was not a favorite thing of Jennifer's. She sighed softly, trying to keep the tears that threatened behind her eyes. She couldn't cry, not yet anyway.
Her phone rang, and Jennifer let out a barley audible groan before picking it up. She didn't even check the caller id before speaking.
"Hey mom" She nodded as her mother babbled on at the other end. "Yes, yes I know mom. I'll be fine." Jeni set her pen down and flipped her diary closed. "No, mom, I'm fine. I've made a ton of friends... wait no, don't cry mom. Look, i have to go... No I don't hate you... I have to unpack... Mom! I have to go, I love you. Bye!" Jenni hung up and stared at the phone, utterly bewildered. Her mother flip-change attitude had left Jennifer feeling a little lost since her dad left... but this, way, way out of her league.
Turning her phone of, Jennifer tried to ignore the threatening headache. A new one brewing. Yay. She'd had enough of them to last her life time, yet she knew that she would suffer them for a long while longer. Today had been a trying day, and all the thirteen year old wanted to do, was to unwind. But her mother and her headache, and the threatening tears prevented her from doing just that. She wanted to cry, and scream and storm, but mainly, she just wanted someone to talk to about it. Sure the official had explained everything, in an objective kind of way. But Jenni needed more. She had never felt so alone and cut-of from everyone else.
