A bit too much? (Open)

When Jenni asked to keep the drawing, Benji looked a little perplexed, but he nodded his head. Carefully, he tore the paper out of the notebook and smiled as he passed it to her. He wasn't sure why she wanted it, but he wouldn't say no. It was just a simple little doodle after all, but if she found some sort of comfort in it, he'd be happy to give it to her.

Benji had often dreamed about the types of powers he'd seen in movies and cartoons even though he knew they weren't real. He'd dreamed about being able to use his power without side effects. Most of all, though, he wished he could bring his voice back. He knew that he may never talk again, the doctors had told him as much, but he couldn't keep from dreaming that someday he'd be able to talk and laugh again just like he used to.

Pursing his lips thoughtfully, Benji began to write again, "You might be able to make it better with training?" He'd only had a few training sessions so far, but they gave him hope that one day he'd be able to use his power without the fear of hurting himself. "But I think I understand. Sometimes I have a hard enough time keeping up with my own thoughts, not to mention having to worry about other people's thoughts!" He looked over at Jenni and offered her another little smile. "It feels like a dream, doesn't it? Being here, I mean."

Jenni smiled even more when Benji said yes. She watched him carefully tear the page out, and when he handed it over, she looked at it once more, before putting it on the table in front of her, making sure not to crease it. It may only have been a doodle, but to Jenni, it represented welcome, and friendship. She was eager for both right now.

Her thoughts were far away, she remembered the good old days, when everything was easy. In someways, she was glad to be at Hammel, she got away from the problems at homes, but if she looked at the big picture, she realized how much she missed her crazy mood-changing mother.

The girl would be lying to herself if she said she never wished she had powers, often when she was younger, she would pretend she could fly, and she would plan all the things she would do if that wish came true. But she never dreamed of being a mind reader. That never entered her thoughts, and yet here she was.

"Maybe" Jenni said, paling a little. She hadn't even thought of training yet. What would she have to do? Would they make her read other peoples thoughts on purpose? She shuddered and pushed that thought aside, Ignorant Bliss was still loved by Jenni. "I guess so." The telepath replied, 'I just wish I could wake up.' Her thoughts were quite loud, and of course Jenni didn't know that. She never knew when she projected, it just happened.
