Last night, Bells had analyzed all of the lesser known rooms of the map on campus, and to her surprise, she could accurately find the most divine room on campus, in her opinion. It was better than fine art, and even better than the outdoors. It was the rehearsal room. She knew that they'd have to have an open area, secluded from everything else. If she was lucky, they might even have a full length large mirror plastered to the wall as well. And even better, Annabelle had brought along her ballet slippers, leg warmers, tights, and leotard with her to Hammel from home. Finally, she could go and release the right way.
She wasn't doing anything wrong was she? Anna had never read about any rules against using the room. After all, it wasn't after hours, and this was just something to do early in the morning before her classes started. It sure beat sitting in her room or aimlessly wandering the halls with nothing else to do. Plus, it wasn't as if she had become buddy-buddy with any of the other students yet, she'd hardly had been here more than a week, that would seem unreasonable if she had found her perfect other half in such a short time.
She went to the bathroom to change into her outfit, and then put sweatpants and a loose, chunky sweater on on-top of her leotard. Now she looked completely normal to be roaming around in the hallways. She wore sneakers and stuck her ballerina shoes in her shoulder bag, grabbed her room key and headed out towards the projected room.
As she neared the room, her heart began to beat more wildly, as if she were doing something illegal, although she could use her best guess to assume the opposite. She shouldn't be getting in trouble for releasing all of this stress and tension. That's what the school was all about wasn't it? Controlling powers and emotions and releasing your leftover energy in a positive way. And that's just what she was doing. If she did end up going into a restricted zone, she could only hope they would go easy on her this time around, given she was a new student and all.
With twenty five more strides and a sharp turn to her left, the door's label read, "Rehearsal Room." She breathed in and held it as she gently turned the knob and walked in, closing the door behind her. She searched blindly for a light switch, and flicked it on, only to see that it was a rather dimly lit room. Well, it would have to do. After all, it wasn't like Anna needed bright lights to dance, she knew what she was doing, as long as she had a clear floor with strong floorboards, she'd be fine.
She made her way to the middle of the room and surveyed the area. It was a medium sized room, which looked like it went from being a classroom to a modified rehearsal room. And she was in luck, there were large mirrors that took over one of the four walls of the room, so that those rehearsing could see exactly what they were doing. It even included a bit of a bar on the opposite wall so that dancers could stretch while practicing their various exercises. This room, in short, was perfect.
Anna sat down plum on the center of the floor, stripped off her sweater, sweat pants, and shoes, replacing them with her ballet slippers. She wrapped the ribbons around her thin, lithe legs, tying a knot at the top of each, which reached about mid calf. From there, she went to warm up. Crunches, three sets of ten, pushups, two sets of twenty, body rolls, and then at the ballet bar, battement en cloche for five minutes, practicing with both legs. Finally, she sat again on the ground, and warmed up her feet and ankles with foot circles, circling both ways.
Now that she was fully warmed up, Bells racked her mind for something that she'd like to do. There were so many positions she could perform; the possibilities were endless. But she gathered her thoughts and decided to just go with what felt natural. Starting at the bar, she began her battment frappe, making sure to keep her body aligned, head up, and hip joints loose. From there, she continued to her battement tendus, promenade into her arabesque, releve, adding a jump, and landing, and finishing in a plié. She repeated this few more times, working on perfecting her body and her position, her control. It had been far too long since she had a room all to herself to practice in, and while she could, she would make the most of it.
