These long days were starting to get to Jesse.
Up early to head to his morning classes, pay attention all throughout those. Power training, that was draining mentally and physically. More classes, and more mental exhaustion. By the time he was done his normal classes, some days the last time he wanted to do was drag himself to Pilot Ridge, to the M.S.A.D. compound. He loved nothing more than causing destruction through Gabriel’s private tutoring. But it was exhausting. He was lucky if he made it back to Hammel by curfew, and if his homework got done between then and when he actually went to sleep, it was a miracle.
That was his problem right now. He’d endured a full day of classes, and a gruelling session with Gabriel involving memories. It made it difficult to concentrate on the physics problems he was working on when his classroom memories were fuzzy. The better he got at controlling his power, the better his side effects would be. He knew that. And he was actually managing to keep memories altered now. That was more than he’d have ever done at this point through Hammel alone.
But fuck, it was making this hard. The little blond was sprawled across a bed in one of the spare rooms. All of his homework was spread out in front of him. He’d finished a bit of geometry, but it was physics he was stuck on now. He normally got this. It was easy. But his pages were blurring and he couldn’t focus properly. Every so often his head would drop slightly, not-so-elegantly faceplanted in his books. Maybe if he just closed his eyes for a moment, things would improve. Then he could finish, and head back to Hammel just before curfew.
Maybe.
