Dorm Sweet Dorm [Talen]

[Avery Sainsbury]

Avery took a deep breath as she looked at her dorm room door. She was afraid to go in. She wondered if anyone was in there, and if she looked ok. Having yet to look in a mirror since she arrived, Avery was scared her hair was messed up or her shoes where scuffed. Opening the door she sighed. No one was in sight as she looked to her left and right.

Looking around as she carried her suitcase, her face was in awe. Eyes wide and lips parted, she looked around. After a few minutes she came to an empty room. Sighing in relief she sat down on the bed and leaned against the wall. She couldn't believe the place she was in. For that matter she couldn't believe she made a tornado tare threw her house.

Wiping a tear away from her cheek and fixing her eyeliner she got up. Placing her suitcase on the bed, then she took her shoes off. Closing her eyes she let out a sigh as her feet with her purple socks hit the floor. Shaking her hair out she walked out of the bedroom to explore the dorm more.

Then she spotted it. She ran to the living room and smiled as she sat down on the couch. 'This place is beautiful.' She spoke out loud to herself as she clicked the t.v. on. Leaning back in the couch she let her dirty blonde hair cascade down her shoulders. Resting her hands on her lap and the remote on her knee.

Talen was currently in the shower, washing up after the intense workout he just had. He just had to run into Zach...the arrogant prick. Grumbling, he stood under the hot water and let the heat relax his muscles. He had worked hard, trying to lose some fat through the gallons of sweat he had produced. No matter; now he could relax, away from that rude LaRousse.

He lathered up with his favorite body soap from Axe, letting the masculine scent permeate the bathroom, and once he was rinsed off he lathered his hair with some nice-smelling shampoo. No, it didn't smell like wildflowers or anything, but it was a clean scent...ocean water and vanilla or something like that. He didn't pay attention as he rinsed off and got out, steam curling over the mirrors and out of the shower.

He grabbed a fluffy black towel and dried himself off, hanging the towel around his neck as he pulled briefs and jeans on. A quick rub of the towel on his hair as he walked out, his bare feet whispering on the carpet, and he heard a new voice outside. Strange; Isidore, his other roommate, wasn't in at the moment, and the voice didn't sound like her. He opened his door and walked outside into the common room.

Well, it definately wasn't her. Those bouncing curls the color of melted gold weren't the same. She seemed to be enjoying herself in front of the T.V. He leaned against his doorframe, arms crossed over his chest. "Enjoying yourself, roomie?" he asked; se just had to be a new roommate. No one else had the keys to the room except himself and Izy.

Not even paying attention, Avery jumped when she heard the voice. It sounded as if it came from nowhere. Then slowly she realized she was in a dorm and it must be one of her roommates.She thought she was alone, how could she have over looked someone?

Standing up she looked at him. Her cheeks flushed as she looked at him without a shirt on. A little red in the face she shook her head. Failing at knocking the vision out of her mind she looked up at him. She didn't know what to say. Her tongue was tied and her eyes couldn't help but stare.

Collecting her thoughts she sighed. "Yea..I..uh...I mean..I am Avery Brooke Sainsbury. Some people call me Brookes." She tried to look away but she couldn't. Leaning against the couch she ran her hand threw her hair. She hated how the sentence came out.

Now she definitely couldn't deny the fact that she was shy and the her roommate was definitely attractive. Then she realized she had to calm herself before something bad happened. She didn't even know how to control her "gift". All Avery knew was when she was mad a tornado ripped threw her house and it landed her here. Taking a deep berath and counting to ten in her head she relaxed.

He felt a little sorry for making her scared, as he watched her jump. He straightened a little when she stood and turned, and he slowly smiled with the flush in her cheeks. She was beautiful, with just the face to turn heads. She kept looking at him, and he looked down; he sighed. Damn, he had forgotten to put a shirt on; all he had was the towel slung around his neck.

Real smooth, Trahan.

She spoke and he looked up. "Avery, huh? I like it," he said, pushing off the doorframe and coming towards her. He extended a hand. "My name's Talen, but you can call me Tal. Welcome to Hammel."

He watched her, noticing the way she acted, and took a step back. Like himself, she was a little shy, and that he totally could relate to. "So, how long have you been here, Avery?"

Avery smiled. Her cheeks turning slightly back to there normal color. "I just arrived recently. I..um..had an incident..." Sighing she thought 'Where I tore down my house and nearly killed my dog'. Shaking the thought out of her head she sighed.

Standing up straight she ran her head threw her hair again. "Are you new too? I mean..I..uh..don't know anyone here and stuff." Her black tank top not very showing of her figure. Pushing her hair back behind her ears she showed she had her ears pierced.

Placing her hands in front of her she smiled feeling slightly awkward. Avery was pretty shy and not use to attention. Her posture and wavering voice showed that. Her mind not sure what she should do next. All she could do was look straight ahead and wonder what to say next.

Thinking she found something to say. "I didn't think anyone was here. I..uh...thought I was alone." That was all she could think of to say. Her mind was still clouded with thoughts.

Ah, he thought. She was one of the tragic ones; ones brought to Hammel because their gfts caused so much attention. He, on the other hand, had been brought quietly, for he had only the gift of self-healing back then. He drew his lonelyhand back to his jeans pocket. "I'm sorry," he murmured softly, looking at her through his bangs.

He raised his head. "I've been here for the past two years," he told her. "I've the gift for self-healing, and very recently the ability to heal other humans...meta-humans too." He tilted his head. "Well, sure you don't; you're new. Don't worry; if I don't show you around, Izy probably would. Isisdore is our other roommate."

He smiled. "I was just like you when I first came here. Luckily I had someone nice enough to show me around; you will too." He slung the towel off his shoulders, showing her the full effects of his ripped torso, and rubbed his damp hair.

Avery smiled as she stared at him. He was quite a sight, she never thought she would see anyone like him. Tal was definitely better looking then the men she was use to seeing. His hair tossed and his abs ripped. Avery tried not to drool over him.

She sighed as she decided to tell him why she was here. "Well...I uh...um...My..uh..'gift 'is weather control. My house..was..never mind." She blushed and looked down at the floor. Avery never really told anyone what happened. She was afraid that people would think she was a freak.

"um...so when will I get to meet her? The girl you talk about?" Slowly looking up. Her mind was reeling and her face felt hot. Her hands holding each other. Avery was definitely nervous. She still felt out of place and awkward.

Bringing her hand up to play with her necklace she smiled. Her face brightened up every time she smiled and her hazel eyes shined brightly, next to her somewhat curly, dirty, blonde hair.

Once she started talking, he stopped drying his hair, and looked at her. Weather control? He ould only imagine what had happened in order for her to come here. Her gift was a "loud" gift, while his was noticeably quiet. He liked it; he didn't like attention drawn to himself, including the attention from the opposite sex because of his supposed good looks. Avery was the third girl he had had contact with; the first being Ariana, and the second L.C.

"Isidore comes and goes as she pleases. I rarely see her, and I've lived here longer," he told her, favoring her with a grin. White teeth flashed pleasantly. When she smiled, she was very pretty, and he wondered if she was his age. He was approaching his sixteenth birthday in another nine months.

Avery decided to shake her emotions out. Starting by shaking her hands out then her head. She was very embarrassed by doing so, but she was afraid basically of herself. She didn't quite understand her abilities yet and she was still stunned that she was the one that did it. Never would she have thought that she could do something like that. The one good thing was now her father noticed her. Thats all she could think to keep herself from breaking down.

"Sorry I just had to shake off some emotions. I guess you could say...I'm..uh...afraid to feel. So how old are you? I'm just wondering, kinda hoping we had classes together so I knew someone." Avery brushed her hair back that was now in her face. Revealing a smile with a slight blush, but nothing to noticeable.
