Black Belt? (open)

Ashleigh breathed in and out calming herself, centering herself. She needed to practice it had been almost a week since she practiced her karate, and if she ever wanted to make it to a full black belt she had to practice more.

Most people were surprised when they realized that Ashleigh was a brown belt in Karate. It was something that she was very proud of but not something that she bragged about. Over the years being able to hold her own in a fight had come in handy. Ally loved to get the two of them in trouble and it was usually Ashleigh that had to get them out of it.

Ashleigh began to run through her program clearing her mind of all things other then her body and moving each muscle just the way she want.

It took her nearly an hour to finish everything and afterward she felt much better. It was getting cooler outside and she would soon have to resort to practicing inside somewhere. But for now she would enjoy her training outside.

Ashleigh went over to the bag she had brought with her and pulled out an old frayed blanket, it was a perfect blanket for laying on the grass. She spread it out and then laid down on top of it. Placing her ipod ear buds in she stared up at the sky.

Avery sighed as she went to her dorm and changed. Rumaging threw the clothes she had yet to unpack she found it. The perfect relaxing outfit. A long sleeve lavender top, a pair of semi-loose fit jeans and lavender low top shoes, with the white tip. She smiled as she changed, then started to put her clothes away.

Being organized as she was, it didn't take long to put her tops and undergarments away. She hung up her jeans and placed her shoes in the bottom of the closet. Most of her shoes where black or white. But then she had the ones that went to tops. All of her purses were hung up as well then she put her pajamas in her dresser as well.

In all it took her a good hour to do all this but she was happy with it. Sitting down on her bed she took a breath, turning her head around and smiling. Soon her cell rang picking it up she said hello. "Mom? Are you crying?", 'Well sweetie. I'm happy and sad at the same time. I'm pregnant. And I'm getting married', "Mom you and dad have only been 'divorced' for about a week. If that.", 'Well honey, I have been seeing this guy for a month. Me and your father have been broken for awhile.', "So thats it?", 'No sweetie, I'm moving to Main with him! Aren't you excited for me?'. Avery hung up the phone.

'I can't believe this. My mom is leaving.' Avery grabbed her hoodie as she mumbled it over and over. Walking out the door she took a deep breath. Not even noticing where she is going or how far she had walked. Soon she couldn't stand it and she started to jog. Tears started to pour down her cheeks. Avery knew it was coming when it started to rain. Pulling up her hood she started to wipe at her tears. Stopping she looked at the pond she almost didn't notice. Not even noticing the girl that was by her. "Stupid rain, stupid tears, stupid mother..." Avery spoke out of sadness.

Ashleigh was humming along to her music with her eyes closed now enjoying her time and letting her mind wander. She thought about that math homework she had been ignoring, maybe if she ignored it long enough and hard enough it would just go away or even better it would just do itself. She still needed to write that book report for English but she wasn't too worried about it. The book was one she read before and the assignment wasn't difficult at all. That was all the homework that Ash could think of for the moment and soon her mind wandered off to more random and more fun things.
Ashleigh was brought out of her daze when she felt a rain drop hit her cheek. It had been clear and sunny just a few minutes ago and now it was raining? There was only one reason that made any kind of sense. A weather controller was really upset, and in all likelihood near bye.

Ash sat up and looked around, she quickly spotted a blond girl next to her with tears streaming down her face. Bingo. Ashleigh had a few options she could just simply walk away, she could mimic the girl's powers and make it stop raining, or she could actually try and help the girl out. The first two options were the easiest ones, but it was the third option that was the right thing to do.

Ash took out her ear buds and turned to the girl. "Hey I, um, I don't mean to pry or anything but are you okay? You seem to be really upset about something."

Avery didn't even notice the girl until she spoke. A little startled Avery jumped. Wiping away a tear she sighed. She had no clue what to say. She felt like a freak and just wanted to go home and be normal again. As the rain kept falling so did her hopes of being normal. Thats all she really wished since she found out.

Not even turning to look at the girl, she spoke quietly."I didn't know anyone was here. I'm sorry I..uh...got kinda bad news today and its just been rough. I just don't understand everything yet. I feel lost" Avery didn't care about sharing her emotions right now. She didn't even feel shy at the moment.

Avery wasn't worried about caring at this point. It was already raining and she figured it couldn't get worse. He mood was so low. Her tears didn't even slow down as she turned to the girl. "I'm sorry to intrude. I'm not usually like this. I just hate this!" She pointed to the sky as a crack of thunder roared and her body straightened. Her tears started to pour faster and she tried not to be angry and sad at the same time. As she realized things could get much worse.

Looking at the girl in front of her Avery tried to stop crying. her eyes a little puffy and red. "I'm...Avery" She said between breaths. She was trying to make herself stop crying but part of her felt like her mother was replacing her. Taking a few steps closer Avery held out her hand, though it was shaky from her sad mood and crying.

Ashleigh felt bad when the girl jumped, she hadn't meant to scare her. Evidently the girl was new around here. Ashleigh new that there was no way that could have been easy, she had been lucky coming at a young age and with her twin sister. To come here all alone and at about 16 couldn't have been fun.

Ash wanted to hug the girl, but touching an unknown person with unknown power and power control was not a good idea.

"I can promise it gets better around here. I mean, I don't know what bad news you got today, but as for understanding and feeling lost around here it does get better. People here in general are really nice, and there are counselors and teachers that can help you with whatever you need help with."

It started raining harder as the girl started crying harder, she must be a weather manipulator. "You aren't intruding at all, I was just relaxing. Promise."

Ashleigh smiled when the girl finally introduced herself. Avery, that was a pretty name. As Avery stuck out her hand Ashleigh took a hold of it and introduced herself.

"I'm Ashleigh, most people call me Ash though."

Avery smiled as they shook hands. Pulling back slightly she took a few deep breaths and sighed in relief. She was still very sad but the rain went away, and all that was left were a bunch of dark clouds."I'm sorry to literally rain on your day. I'm just a little upset." Avery is usually a shy person but considering the moment she really wasn't paying much attention to the fact she was meeting someone new.

Closing her eyes and letting her body relax Avery smiled. trying to pretend she felt better. Her emotions where not under control at the moment and she hated that feeling of uncertainty. "I like your nickname. Friends from my old place use to call me Brookes. Its my middle name. I always wanted a cooler nickname but...I ended up here. Sorry to be so gloomy I just have family issues right now."

Avery looked around and sighed. The friends she was going to meet and the people she did, they would basically be her family now. Her mother was gone and her father wanted nothing to do with her so she knew she had no one but the friends she would make at Hammel. Letting the days events lift of of her was something Avery wasn't that good at. However, she decided to think of some fun memories. Sure enough the day went back to being its normal self."Sorry about that. I can't really control myself yet."


Eyes still a little red she finally laughed a little letting out her tension. "Thank you for telling me that it gets better. I needed that. Hammel wasn't at all the issue. It wonderful here. Even though I still kinda feel like a freak. i mean I still feel out of place. Like I don't belong and having my mom leave me now too. It just got over whelming. I really tried to control myself. I guess I just lost it for a little while there." Her hands lay down at her sides and her posture became straight again.
