Name: Charles Thomas Edison
Nicknames: Charlie
Age: 17
Orientation: Heterosexual
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Mirror Travel- Charlie's ability allows him to create a portal between two mirrors just by touching one and mentally picturing the other. The effect is temporary and only lasts until he's passed to the other side of the portal. When he touches a mirror he can also sense other mirrors within the same area as his ability allows him to travel (~ 1 mile radius). Inanimate objects can pass through with Charlie as long as they maintain physical contact. After he uses his ability his vision blurs a bit, eventually progressing into double vision (what you'd see when crossing your eyes) if he uses it too often in a single day, and takes a few hours to clear up.

General Appearance: Charlie is what most people would call average. He stands at a healthy 5'10" and he has enough meat on his bones to not be considered scrawny, but he isn't muscular at all. He's tried to tan before just to seen what it'd be like, but his skin just goes from slightly pale to lobster red, so being in Vermont most of the year leaves him on the pale side. His hair is a medium length, he likes it that way even though it's constantly falling on his face and has a constant 'just got out of bed' look. Unless it's a special occasion, every day consists of a comfortable pair of jeans, whatever t-shirt he can find clean, a pair of sneakers, and the brown suede jacket that belonged to his biological father. When he does have to dress up, like long-sleeved and buttoned shirts with weird khaki pants, he'll try to look good, but he definitely won't be happy about it.
Personality: Charlie is normal, or at least he isn't crazy or anything. He's a generally nice guy, besides being a bit too sarcastic and liking the company of girls more than guys. He doesn't have issues with his step-father or step-sister, they were there since he was six. He and his step-stepsister, Alicia, have a sort of love/hate relationship and drive each other crazy, but it's mostly playful. She is the catalyst for his sarcastic tendency, and whenever he isn't paying attention to what he's saying it slips into his conversations. He gets along pretty well with his step-father, Graham, though they don't really have that much in common. Graham is into all those outdoors activities: hunting, fishing, camping, stuff like that. Unless he's taking pictures with his camera, Charlie stays away from the actual 'forests and mountains' outside.
Charlie never played much with other kids growing up, and up to the point he came to Hammel he didn't have any guy friends. Before his little sister was born he clung to Alicia like he was her shadow. He always got mad when she went to a friend's house and he wasn't allowed to go, but she would always make it up to him by playing video games with him. Once his little sister was born, he became the protective older brother. Being one of those kids that stayed inside, he learned a lot of domestic skills early on from his mother like cooking, doing laundry, and taking care of babies. He isn't effeminate, he just knows how to do those types of things. He's pretty good at interacting with girls, at least the normal kinds, and prefers their company. As far as relationships go, he's had a crush or two, but never acted on them or had a girlfriend. He can be clueless when it comes to noticing someone else's feeling for him and can misread flirting as just playful banter.
Due to accidents that happened because of his power, he tries to shy away from talking about the meta-human topic, even at Hammel with others like him. Of course, he doesn't really see himself as exactly like everyone else and has feelings of inadequacy about what he can do. He has the mindset that people who know what he can do see him as a pervert, even if they don't outright say it, and tries to be as vague as possible when new people ask what he can do. He started keeping a journal recently because of some weird dreams that he wanted to record.
He doesn't really know much about his biological father, except he got his middle name from him. He gives him mom a hard time because she married Graham and he went from Charlie Thomas Fletcher to Thomas Edison. He wears an old suede jacket that belonged to his birth dad as a memento, and to remind him that the man did in fact exist.

Strengths: Growing up with both an older and younger sister, he's used to dealing with girls on a day to day basis and usually gets along pretty well with them. Charlie enjoys taking pictures of things, sometimes people, around school and wouldn't mind pursuing a career that involves photography. He's also a good enough cook, nothing spectacular, but he can follow a recipe and make his way around a kitchen.
Weaknesses: He isn't the greatest at making friends, mostly with guys. Being around girls is easier for him, but he has a habit of acting more like a doting brother than a friend. Not to mention he's completely oblivious to flirting and can't pick up on someone being interested unless they straight out tell him. If he's around a girl he happens to like he becomes standoff-ish and gets nervous. When it comes to sports, or anything outdoorsy, he fails hard. He likes to use sarcasm when talking, but he can take it too far sometimes. Charlie has never been an academic kind of kid, getting mostly C's in his classes.
Fears: His biggest fear is one of inadequacy. He thinks that once he's done with Hammel and moves on to the outside world he'll just be another random person with a dead-end job. Then there's the fact that he's a meta-human, but his power is so pointless and weak that he can't even use it to defend himself if he ever ran into trouble. A smaller fear is that when people find out about his ability, they see him differently. A person able to go from mirror to mirror, with most residing in bedrooms and bathrooms, can be unsettling to some and doesn't really help in the dating department.
Secret: None at the moment.

History
Charlie was born to Thomas and Jennifer Fletcher in a medium-sized Colorado town on November 14th, 1993, and was a pretty normal baby. His parents were young when they had him, his dad still in school and his mom just starting her career. His dad was killed in a car accident when he was four years old and he doesn't remember much about him besides the stories he heard from his mom.
When he was six, his mom remarried to Graham Edison, police man, and that's when he met his new big sister Alicia. They got on well enough, though they never missed an opportunity to poke fun at each other. About nine months later, Chloe entered the picture, the baby that really tied the new family together. Charlie loved his new sister to death and would help his mom take care of her whenever she'd let him. He never really played with other kids, so when he wasn't in school he stuck to his mom, learning to cook and watch Chloe; or he'd play with Alicia, mostly on their N64.
His childhood and most of his early teen years were normal. He started using his mom's old camera to take pictures when Graham dragged him into doing some father-son wilderness thing. Developing pictures in a darkroom was something he enjoyed doing, just being away from other people felt nice.
The summer before ninth grade was when it first started. Charlie would walk by a mirror and get a funny sensation throughout his body. He noticed whenever he touched a mirror he could 'feel' other mirrors in his head. He tried pushing on his bathroom mirror during one experiment to see if he could sense mirrors farther away, but instead his hand went straight through. He continued pushing until he was on the other side, which happened to be the bedroom of a neighbor down the street. Suffice to say they weren't too thrilled with a 13 year old boy suddenly appearing out of their mirror while they were getting ready for bed. The whole thing was a mess, but he was able to convince the police it was an accident and that he didn't know he could do that before he tried it. By the end of the week, a school in Vermont, Hammel Institute, was in contact and wanted to teach him how to use his ability.
When he arrived at Hammel, he was excited; it was like being part of a real version of X-Men. There were people all around just like him. There was even power training, and a guy who could read minds, though he wasn't bald or crippled. Even an incident his first day of school, which made people think he was some kind of pervert, didn't dampen his enthusiasm. The only problem seemed to be his ability. Other people could do amazing things, and kept doing more amazing things. Even when he'd been to the school for two years, all he could do was find mirrors and then travel through to them, within ~1 mile radius. That's it. He had one of the lamest powers around. He hated it, and did everything he could to just forget he was at a school for superpowered teens. It was just a school.
Roleplay Example
Charlie ran the comb through his hair as swiftly as possible, trying both to straighten it and sweep it out of his eyes. He knew he was minutes away from being late to his first class on his first day. It wasn't that he wanted to be late though. Was it his fault he stayed up until three in the morning from nerves and excitement? He was at a freaking school for the gifted, like 'oh yeah, I can kinda fly' gifted. That excuse probably wouldn't work on the teacher, who might actually be able to fly. That'd be cool.
Satisfied with the slightly presentable way his hair was looking, he turned back toward the door where his backpack was propped against the wall. After securing it on his shoulders, he climbed up on the sink, rested his hand on the mirror, and concentrated on the men's bathroom down the hall from his first period. He'd only been there once when he was walking around in an attempt to find his way around after getting his schedule. Finding one of the mirrors he knew was in the right area, he shimmied his way through while prodding around with his feet so he could balance on the smaller sink on that side. Before he was completely on the other side, he heard a shriek and the sound of running water. His right foot slipped on the wet porcelain, and went tumbling onto the ground in the bathroom.
Charlie had his eyes closed for a minute as he lay on the ground, thinking about what had happened. What kind of guy would scream like that? He could tell the bottom of his pant legs were drenched. Then he opened his eyes and looked in front of him. Bathroom stalls, some with doors open, some closed. He looked to his right, toward the exit. The hell? This doesn't... All the urinals were missing. Glancing to left, he found the source of the shriek from earlier. And it was wearing a skirt.
"Shit."
